80,000 expected on Saturday night according to the MCG website and the Australian.
Eighth-placed Richmond host Essendon in Saturday night’s Dreamtime match at the MCG in a bid to go one game and further percentage clear of the Bombers on the ladder.
The contest is expected to attract at least 80,000 fans. The two clubs have played each other twice in each of the past four seasons with the spoils shared each year.

Waiting for Connolly and flobbo to come out with the "tigers best team since Brisbane 3 peat rubbish" articles

Why aren't there any Richmond aboriginals like Phil Egan or something involved ?

A quote from Adam Goodes in an article titled "Constant booing puzzles Swans star Goodes"
"I'm so thankful and grateful for guys like Michael Long for standing up for what they believe in, and Nicky Winmar, because if they didn't do that, would we have seen Buddy (Franklin) or myself running around today?"
And he wonders why he gets booed :lol

nothing wrong with Goodes. Great role model and a family man.

I think we should get that 12 year old girl in the centre square and point at her before having her arrested and shackled.
It would also help if we dressed Eddie McGuire up in a King King outfit and made him scale a light tower.
More for my amusement.
-
Yeah that was wrong but you would think her parents would have dragged her out anyway without those guys
I know if my daughter called someone that she would cop it and be dragged out
Anyway moving on
Is it just me or does anyone love the win this game more than last week. Forget cornes I would love nothing else to spoil their little fletcher party
Massive game against these cheats

Agree first point
And yes would love to totally upset the party, fmd we are due for a dreamtime win.
To win this week would be huge and even if we fell short against ladder leaders Freo it would be 3 more games won than what I first thought.
-
dont care about freo mate this is the one i want. We owe these cheats a beating after last year's debacle.

This is a massive massive credibility test for Richmond this weekend .
Our last couple of efforts in Dreamtime have been deplorable ....have made an average team like Essendon look like premiership contenders

Match preview: Tigers v Bombers
Jennifer Phelan
afl.com.au
May 27, 2015
SUMMARY
The Tigers stopped their season sliding into the abyss two weeks ago when they beat Collingwood, and backed that up with an emphatic away win over Port Adelaide on Sunday night. The wins came on the back of four losses in five games and have restored confidence and fight to the group, as well as getting their season back on track. Meanwhile, the Bombers are also on four wins, four losses after snapping a two-game losing streak with a win over the Brisbane Lions on Sunday. They kicked 21 goals, which led to their highest score since round three last season after struggles in that area this year.
WHERE AND WHEN: MCG, Saturday, May 30, 7.25pm AEST
LAST FIVE TIMES
R20, 2014, Richmond 14.11 (95) d Essendon 11.11 (77) at the MCG
R11, 2014, Essendon 15.14 (104) d Richmond 7.12 (54) at the MCG
R23, 2013, Richmond 15.14 (104) d Essendon 9.11 (65) at the MCG
R9, 2013, Essendon 13.13 (91) d Richmond 9.8 (62) at the MCG
R22, 2012, Richmond 13.24 (102) d Essendon 8.9 (57) at the MCG
THE SIX POINTS
1. This will be the ninth Dreamtime at the 'G contest since 2006; the Bombers have won six games to three on the occasion.
2. But the Tigers beat them in round 20 last season as they marched to the finals, with Anthony Miles and Brandon Ellis key players.
3. The Bombers might have improved their scoring power on the weekend with Joe Daniher booting six but they remain the worst centre clearance side in 2015, having averaged just 10 per game.
4. Their plight at the clearances extends to around the ground. They're ranked 17th in the competition with an average of 35.2, compared to the Tigers' 37.5 that leaves them 12th.
5. Brett Deledio carried on his impressive form from round seven's win over the Magpies with another strong performance against the Power. Deledio had 28 disposals, kicked a goal and laid five tackles.
6. Despite Deledio's troubles with an achilles injury this season, he's trending back upwards on the Official AFL Playing Ratings from 75 last week to 68.
IT'S A BIG WEEK FOR …
Dustin Fletcher,
simply because the two-time All Australian is set to line up for his 400th AFL game. Reaching the remarkable milestone leaves the 40-year-old as just the third player in VFL/AFL history to do so, after Michael Tuck (426 games) and Kevin Bartlett (403). He's played 399 games of a possible 516 in his career with Essendon.
PREDICTION: Richmond by 19 points.

wtf are Official AFL Playing Ratings
-
Hardwick talking about Saturday night's game:
* Essendon have changed a number of things. The first four weeks, they probably tended to go backwards and sideways a little bit. But I think over the last four rounds, they’re AFL No. 1 for kicking forward. Their mark-play-on rate is incredibly high now. They’re playing a faster brand of footy, which probably suits them more from my point of view. So, we’ve just got to slow them down and get the game on our terms, which is very similar to the Port Adelaide game last week. If we defensively come to play, we think we’ll get the result we’re after.
* I think, the last three to four years, we’ve split games at both ends but we probably haven’t won the first game at any stage. We’re looking forward to amending that and making sure we start off on the right foot.”

The issue for me after the Port and Pies wins was how we would handle the media attention and supporter expectation going back onto us this week leading into a big (home) game with us being slight favourites with the bookies. But with Fletcher playing his 400th, the media has virtually ignored us as if Essendon is the only team playing on Saturday night.
-
I hope Fletcher remembers it is the Adam Goodes round and it isn't all about his massive milestone.

Interesting view although the players know its a big game .they aren't really affected as they just do there job that is asked
Keep in mind last 2 weeks would have had bigger expectations .especially against Port after what happened in the final last year

Yep, we will poo ousrelves. I think we'll lose again
-
A major difference i can see is that they have no Patty Ryder who normally rips it up in these dreamtime games..
-
We could really poo the bed and get done tomorrow night. Big game, build up, leaders normally go missing.
But I'm not so sure. I think we will probably go ok.
Maybe I've just fallen into the Richmond comfort zone again. We haven't really beaten anyone who is going OK.

Hating RFC is a double edged blade.
At times one can overestimate the competition.
Essendone are pooful and hird is coaching like a man who is shitnn his pants about pending legal issues.
Even RIchmond will beat this shamble of a club.

RICHMOND v ESSENDON
(http://s.afl.com.au/staticfile/AFL%20Tenant/AFL/Files/Images/85.jpg)
Hot: Alex Rance has scored 58.9 points in the past month, which is ranked 31st in the competition. This is the best four-week period of his career to date. Bombers speedster Travis Colyer has climbed the overall standings from 378th to 275th this season, which is the biggest relative rise at Essendon.
Not: Ben Griffiths has averaged just 5.9 points this season – a drop of 24 per cent on last year. Courtenay Dempsey has scored just 17.8 points in the past month, which is the lowest-scoring four-week block of his career. He has donned the green vest in a few games though.

Essendon will initially be pumped up due to Fletcher's 400th and love to get off to a fast start in games while, apart from last week, our first quarters have been ordinary. So we need to be switched on with our intensity and tackling pressure, take our chances with our scoring shots and for a change start well in these Dreamtime games (touchwood).
-
Bigger build up than the 2000 Olympics.
8 pointer

They may be pumped but lets hope thats all they have.
I hate the vomits and with every win we have against them I relish it with great delight.
With Dusty playing his 400th it's good to know that Bartlett and the Tigers lost his 400th game and then Tuckie and the hawks won his 400th game which means that the footy world is due for a loss of a 400th played game.

Let's hope we can party poop 2 weeks running. Need to play the richmond way tonight (whatever that is) ;D

Maric getting a bath early doesn't help

Lucky they are crap. Some very soft efforts by us. Mind you it was a free to mcBean but the ump didn't pay it because it was Fletcher ::)

Grigg shot falls short. Rushed,

-
Well done Macca. Turnover and finds Titch on the lead. Now we are missing :P.
22 - 12

Looks like Griffs hurt his hip with the dud kick :P.
-
Dumb mistakes by both sides.
Btw how was Goddard not pinged?
-
Maric pushed in the back - no free?
-
Kick in to Grigg straight down the guts to lids. Lowers the eyes to Jack 45m out. Misses.

You're an idiot umpire. Heppell into Miles' back and then Miles gets pinged :banghead.

Soft goal :banghead. Houli fumbled and fell over when all he had to was gather and allowed Essendon to waltz in.
-
Third fumble in the last 5 minutes from Houli
-
Houli needs to be read the riot act at halftime has been fumbling and bumbling all bloody game. Pull your head and get your poo together absolute changed the momentum of the game with that soft poo
-
Gave up 2 soft goals in the last 2 minutes :banghead
Half-time
Richmond 3.2 5.6-36
Essendon 1.4 3.7-25
Goals: Cotchin 2, Riewoldt, Martin, Griffiths
-
But Houli is silky and exotic?
-
And there you go another one and its game on.
Ffs, that's where the modern game poos me, players make a couple of mistakes in the old days and they'd get called to the bench and told to get it together quick smart, these days nothing. Sometimes players need to be read the riot act to snap them out of it
-
But Houli is silky and exotic?
I don't mind Houli normally, but fairs fair when you stuff up you need to be held accountable
-
I fairdinkum can't stand softies at half time frakar.
Should've been an all in!

Three stats that show we aren't playing like we did against the Pies and Port. Losing contested ball and the clearances but the worst is having just 23 tackles for a half. That's just one a Tiger. Not good enough :banghead.

That;s crap Richmond :banghead
Why not kick to the top of the square instead of dicky little kicks that go to the loose Bomber defender :banghead. Bombers run it down for a goal :banghead
-
We have some players that really let us down...ffs.
-
Menadue makes Flossy kick good. Off to Lids who hits up Jack 50m out. Outside his comfortable range. McBean almost takes makr of the year but it's rushed thru for a point.
45 - 38
-
Can someone please explain to me why when kicking from outside 50 we chip to 40 metres out rather than hitting the goal square. Surely the danger spot is the square when all players are marked up.

Bloody hell that will be game.

How do we do this
-
Structure Richmond. Where's our structures? :banghead. Loose Bombers all over the ground in the last 5 mins. Falling for the counterattack like North do to us.

This is why that style of play sucks, once the opposition get on top it's good night. We are better than this poo!!

How the hell did we milk 3.30 off the clock at the end doing stuff all. Its awful footy to watch and it must be shameful for the players to play. Still we did it a hell of a lot bettet than we did in the past. I said I liked the look of our selected list. The kids had good games too McIntosh et al, Ellis kicked a nice goal.

Brandon Ellis runs himself into the ground. I wonder if its to his detriment when he gets to the contest he's stuffed. But at least he makes it there.
-
Who else notuced we had some luck with not giving away free kicks in the last. One i noticed was houli grabbing round the middle right in the goal square. Our game is still brittle. That free could have turned things.

it was a free

umpiring was poo all night. lots of missed frees and a few paid that were WTF.
in saying that, unsure what the drama is about the morris 50. you cant just jump into someone who is in the air going for the mark.

I know winning like this doesn't look good but its efficient. Personally tonight I thought the players were terrific again. Defensively excellent again. We coughed up some goals from mistakes but overall I thought it was a good performance. Last week Menadue kicked a ripping goal, this week young Corey Ellis delivered when it counted most. If we can get some more classy outside run and more speed that would be great. I thought Ben Griffiths was very good for probably 2 and half to 3 quarters. Overall I thought the players tonight were good and Hardwick knocked over Hird in the coaching battle. Well done to all.
Give Hardwick a 10 year contract ;D

the spread in the last 10 seconds was very nice
looks like its only taken six years to understand tatics and zoning :pray

Serious? We got maggot-raped in the last!
-
Outside of maybe 1 or 2 decisions we got slaughtered tonight by the umpires.
-
Great ugly win by the boys. The positives are that we have heaps of improvement in us.
I will say the bombers are silly using Carlisle up forward I would trade Vickery, Chaplin and some picks to get him to Richmond play him at full back.
Chaplin is a liability and almost lost us the game. :banghead
He gets W.O.G award tonight.

if you keep rance
and you play carlise in the chaplin position
that would be 8)
chaplin is crap
-
carlisle is exceptional in the air, but a cad of a kick.
if you cant put the ball between two sticks from a set shot, how can you pin point teamates coming from defense?
would be an infuriating player to have in your team

Disagree Al. He's a gun player and definetely a confidence player. He's a natural defender reads the ball very well and won't have the pressure of being the main goal kicker so will kick better in the defensive 50.
We could also have the luxury of switching him forward if necessary.

maybe, but to kick a goal all you need is accuracy.
to hit a target on field you need decision making , to be able to weight the kick correctly, and more often than not precision skills.

you dont think the druggie supporters wernt pulling their hair out tonight at his misses?

Wonderful win, nothing better than beating the drug cheats.
Very professional performance. Our weak links are getting fewer. Chaplin and Morris still stand out like dogs balls.

There are many replacement options for Morris: Gordon, Lennon, Donuts, Foley, Conca, Knights etc.
but who will come in for Chaplin? Elton? Astbury? Chaplin is just awful. Makes Rance life tough.
-
I watched the game on TV.
Why does Brian Taylor hate us so much. Did we shaft him when he left for Collingwood .
His commentary is a disgrace . The call tonight was so pro Essendon - all I can say is eat s$&t BT
-
pretty sure my neighbours know that i agree with you on that mat, and i live on a 5 acre block.
Taylor vacuums roosters. He is always the same when Richmond play.
-
Look forward to another week on the forum without the usual chicken idiots
That's what I reckon too
-
If you are missing all the negativity - Bomberblitz is a good read tonight :snidegrin
-
Did anyone else think the booing of Chapman tonight was a bit racist?

Love em hate em stupid jumper love em tonight stuff the drug cheats
Sooo happy yep I'll take it every day

Beating Essendon is always sweet. :thumbsup
What tonight emphasises for me is how much we need Rance to stay.
Our defensive structure will be stuffed without it.
Time and time again repelling Essendon attacks and marking, spoiling, smothering.
Right time, right place defender.
What I love in the last three weeks is kids like Ellis, Menadue and hopefully other kids getting games.
Sure they may not have an impact all game but it has sparked up the side, made selection more competitive and the side has played more accountable and competitive footy.
The kids don't have to be superstars they just need game time. Let them play.
Last week Menadue kicked an important goal in the last quarter, this week it was Ellis, in big wins for the RFC. The type of stuff that would make these kids feel that they belong at this level.
If only we had done this from Round 2.
Anyway, keep it up Tigers the new selection formula and attitude is working. :thumbsup

We were two years and 33 games per player younger and less experienced than Essendon last night :thumbsup.

It was pure magnificence to see Fletcher subbed off in game 400 and to wave Essendon supporters good bye as they left with 2 minutes to go

Yep, I could hear you from my place Al and I was just as loud agreeing with you!! BT is a tool.

3 weeks of feeling good about the club. lots of positives from the Tiger lads.
:gotigers

Anyone notice Rance and Chaplin arguing a fair bit?
Chaplin is so unaccountable and Rance mops up his mistakes. He is awful in the air. I worry that if Rance is 50-50 on leaving it doesn't help he plays next to a lazy poor footballer in Chaplin.
-
Chaplins contract shouldn't be renewed. We need to find a ruckman to take over from Ivan when he retires, we need a big key defender to help Rance because Chaplin is nearly at the end, another inside mid and a pacy outside mid and small forward over the next 2 draft and trade periods.

I think you are drawing a long bow there Pope - our back six is probably our greatest strength at moment.

That's going to happen when the opposition has a 40 year old playing his 400th game.
Got the shock of my life seeing Dustin Fletcher's son run out with the team - looked old enough to be playing

wouldn't be surprised if Rance is moving to the Vatican to get away from chaplin
crap player

Think you'd find most people find it easier to kick to a person than through the goals.

Apparently, if Fletcher is stilling playing in two years time then his son will be old enough to be drafted and play alongside him :o.

Cotch in the clear from the MRP.
Other matters assessed:
Contact between Richmond's Trent Cotchin and Essendon’s Jake Carlisle from the half-time break of Saturday’s match was assessed. The players were moving from the ground at half-time when the teams came together. Player Carlisle was next to Cotchin when the Richmond player pushed him with an open hand to the chest area. It was the view of the panel that Cotchin's action was not a reportable offence. No further action was taken.

Cotch (HFF) and B.Ellis (Int) have been named in the AFL website's team of the week ...
TRENT COTCHIN (Richmond) - The Tigers are charging again and their captain is at the forefront. Cotchin collected 24 possessions on Saturday night – 14 contested – and kicked two goals as well as winning six clearances. He was challenged, along with Brett Deledio and Ivan Maric, at half-time to be more influential at the stoppages, and delivered as the Tigers got home by 13 points.
BRANDON ELLIS (Richmond) - In one of the young Tiger's best games, Ellis helped his team over the line against Essendon with 33 disposals, eight marks and five clearances. Ellis ran himself ragged at both ends of the ground and typified Richmond's relentless workrate.

Ellis didn't do that much.
Ran out of puff and gave up the chase. I saw that......
