Title: Griffith's 2nd half fade-outs.
Post by: (•))(©™ on May 31, 2015, 05:11:03 PM
He doesn't seemto be breaking the reputation,or at least with any consistency.
I live him but this is the area that he needs to get on top of to complete his game and contribution
He should be kicking four a week.
One a qtr.

he was good yesterday. his contested marking is a feature for us as is his long kicking. let him continue to develop. he has come a long way in the last 18 months.

Has improved from where he was at 12 months ago, I'm hoping he still has more improvement left in him, I agree he rarely plays a 4 q game ...has the ability to impact far more than he does

Agree Ox. Needs to find more consistency. We could have used a big contested mark or two in the second half.

Looked like he was spent late in the game.  Either that or got a knock and wasn't 100%.  Agree though, he is such a tease....

He was brilliant in the 1st quarter. I just hope he learns to kick more goals.

If it were between him and a fit Vickery I'd select Vickery everytime ahead of him

Not fit enough which I find disappointing after all the talk coming out of the club about how fit he was. He looks spent in the 2nd half, needs to improve his aerobic capacity.

Jackstar said he sustained a nasty corky in the second term.  If you have had one you would realise how they can hamper you.

must keep persisting. showing very good signs consistently. now we need it to go for longer during games. needs to continue to build a tank and his fitness.

Don't forget that when you have a corky there is a Murphy's Law that the ball will come to you more than it normally would, meaning that it makes it you look like you are having a real shocker.

I don't think he's fit enough, to be fair he's built up his running capacity the last off season which appeared to be a focus given his role was changed to move further up the field in 2915. He will need a couple of pre seasons to get the fitness necessary to play out a full game.
He's trending up in all key numbers this year - avg goals, marks, kicks, inside 50s and score involvements.
Just needs to continue the trajectory

Ive had one  ::)

Im not talking about this one game, its a common theme in every single game, he looks spent in the 2nd half-  he needs to get much fitter

Maybe we should take him out the back and behead him, perhaps he will play better in the second half then... :snidegrin

I agree, Im a big wrap for Benny G, have been from day dot, just disappointed that he still seems so far off it aerobically after the club specifically came out preseason and talked him up in a richo wing role he was that fit. So naturally you would expect to see a significant gain in fitness which doesn't seem to be the case.

Griff talking about his year so far ...

VIDEO: http://www.richmondfc.com.au/video/2015-05-31/round-9-the-richmond-review

* I feel really confident, I just need to get a bit of match fitness back. I think I only played a quarter in three weeks, which was really frustrating. I’ve just got to keep playing my role and then, hopefully, I can start building from there.

* I thought my contested marking was starting to get a bit better as well. It was really good to start clunking a few but it was a bit annoying that I slowed down in the second half.  That’s where I need to get better and start playing the four quarters.

* If I can take five marks a quarter, I’ll be having a pretty strong impact on the team. It’s just a building block - go from there and start hitting the scoreboard a bit more.

Corkies don't make you look like you're puffed out

Just waiting for the day this guy kicks properly straight. He'll jag 4-6 goals in a game eventually. Hope to god I'm there at the MCG...

Yep. Doesn't look capable of getting to contests and crashing packs as the game goes on. Need him to be a reliable target in the clinches.

If he had kicked that goal in the last, all would have been forgiven.

We are a better team with Griff and Tyrone BOTH playing. They are not duds when then ball is on the ground for 200cm players.

You can tell it is in his head now. Never looked like kicking that one in the last. Hopefully he drills a couple and goes back to kicking with his natural motion.

Help set up the win in the first quarter but was mostly not sited after that. Should have IMO been sub in the last quarter leaving both Ellis and Menadue to give us more run. He is coming off an injury and little game time recently so it made sense to me subbing him. Even Richo in the commentary said that one of Vickery or Griff should have been sub. Anyone else agree?

agree BT, richo laughed at himself when Ellis was the sub, but I agreed with his logic and call

Tone, Richo is a star and was just being respectful IMO but deep down I think he thought it was the wrong move. Best quarter of footy I can remember EVER watching that first quarter. Our pressure, skill level and free flowing footy is a credit to all involved, it's the first time I've been really impressed with the way we played. Our second half we went back to playing a bit negative but that's what you can do when you have a great lead.
