Tyrone Vickery wants to stay at Richmond but wants to play more games

IN-DEMAND Richmond tall Tyrone Vickery wants to stay at Punt Road — as long as he can build on his total of just four games this year.
Vickery was hot property last year as rivals attempted to lure him from the club, but the Tigers refused to budge on trading Jack Riewoldt’s foil.
The contracted 24-year-old becomes a free agent at the end of next year, with clubs including Brisbane already inquiring about his availability for next season.
But the much-maligned forward came back into the team on Friday night against Fremantle after form and fitness concerns this year.
He is challenging himself to fit into a three-pronged Richmond forward line, lifting his tackling pressure and kicking goals as a stay-at-home forward.
But in his seventh season he also wants to be playing footy every week after a career that has stagnated since his 37-goal 2011 season.
Vickery kicked 27 goals in 2013 and then 23 from 12 games last year, not playing after his Round 18 suspension for a hit on Dean Cox.
The Tigers are in a strong place with their list management given six first-year players as well as Taylor Hunt have taken the field for them this year.
While they missed out on St Kilda’s David Armitage they believe they have reaped some quality from 2014’s national draft given this year’s version is much thinner.
But they remain nervous over the prospects of Alex Rance, who is weighing up whether to play next year.
Richmond has denied suggestions Rance wants a year off before returning to football in 2016, but he could retire entirely.
His manager Tom Petroro said on Sunday he had five months to consider his decision.
“Alex has been pretty honest in publicly saying that he’s still weighing up the decision as to whether he wants to play or not next year,” Petroro said.
“So I think there’s a little bit more to this one than just a player weighing up what offers are out there.”

Don't waste your time reading poo from these so called football writers. They don't sell papers :sleep

Hope it's true. Vickery played well last night but so what, on the balance of what he's served up over his career he's totally expendable..... McBean will be better in the long run as a forward at least......clubs always pay overs for tall forwards - Brisbane will have high picks and are desperate - get it done Richmond.

Stanley for pick 21
tyrone top 10 / top 5 ??

Plays 2 good games and suddenly he thinks he deserves more games? Being gifted 10 games last year wasn't enough?

Sam McClure on 3aw last night said Collingwood were after Vickery and would offer him a large contract to try and get him over to the Pies.
Ty is contracted until the end of 2016 when he becomes a free agent.
-
Must keep him, starting to come good.
Cant believe people want to trade him and keep Conco.. :o :o :o
Griff is injury prone and Hampson doesn't have long left, get rid of Vickery after all the time and effort we have put in and it's a sham. It will come back to bite us.

I can see why they're are interested.
He has to stay now for mine unless they replace him with someone unbelievable which is not going to happen.
Also explains the Treloar scenario as pies are trying to drive prices up.
stuff they are filth

Conca. LMAO. Fools.

No wonder Pies want Vickery - Jessie White's kicking for goal has probably cost Collingwood a place in the finals.
-
tyrone would be worth heaps to collingwood
-
So does everyone rate him now that Collingwood is supposedly interested?

I've always rated him
Young for his size still. Ruck / key forward
Can mark a bit and kick straight sometimes. Unlike many key forwards
Stanley went for a high pick... Tyrone should be worth heaps

Sam McClure was just on 3aw again. He added Collingwood will approach Vickery at the end of the season and Richmond may need to extend Ty's contract early and pay him more to keep him.
-
I hope we do this kind of thing to other clubs

So win/win for pies
They either lure a need for their list or they drive up his price and potentially affect us getting Treloar or whoever else is on the table behind the scenes.

Thereby reducing our available salary cap and putting ourselves out of the market for Treloar. Nice try you feathered f#@ks, go try and fool some other club.

At the end of the day Ty is still contracted for next season. We could potentially push a flag next year and if that means not knee jerking and risk losing someone like Vickery for the following year because we instead decided to trade or sign in some big talent then so be it. Happens all the time and we would have a season to prepare for it.
-
3aw again today were mentioning the 'Collingwood are into Vickery' rumour. Richo said there was talk of this rumour prior to yesterday's game and that if you hear another club is interested in you, you'd possibly be motivated to play well against them.

Fair old trade value now
