"It's 99% half mental"
;D :snidegrin
-
Its about time we gave this mob a hiding after the embarrassments they've handed out. Was it 05 when we last smacked them, Nathan Brown putting on a clinic?
-
They are putrid club.
-
Must win game!
-
Smash them l say. The worst club in the AFL ever Carlscum & its supporters

Match preview: Tigers v Blues
Jennifer Phelan
afl.com.au
July 7, 2015
SUMMARY
Six wins from seven games has Richmond sixth on the ladder and on track for a third consecutive finals berth. On Saturday afternoon, the Tigers won "ugly" against Greater Western Sydney, according to coach Damien Hardwick, and had to overcome a 15-point deficit to get over the injury-riddled Giants. Carlton pushed the Western Bulldogs on Saturday night but fell 11 points short in what was another competitive effort in John Barker's fifth game in charge. The Blues won their two previous games against Port Adelaide and Gold Coast, and are 16th on the ladder.
WHERE AND WHEN: MCG, Friday, July 10, 7.50pm
AEST
LAST FIVE TIMES
R1, 2015, Richmond 15.15 (105) d Carlton 11.12 (78) at the MCG
R2, 2014, Richmond 14.14 (98) d Carlton 12.14 (86) at the MCG
1EF, 2013, Carlton 18.8 (116) d Richmond 14.12 (96) at the MCG
R21, 2013, Carlton 16.10 (106) d Richmond 14.12 (96) at the MCG
R1, 2013, Richmond 14.22 (106) d Carlton 14.17 (101) at the MCG
THE SIX POINTS
1. It was the Tigers' forwards who were the difference in their round one win over the Blues. Jack Riewoldt kicked four goals, and Ben Griffiths and Sam Lloyd three each.
2.Riewoldt has been in form since the Tigers turned their season around in round seven. He's kicked 20 goals from seven games, including three bags of four or more.
3. While the Tigers have recent good form against the Blues, you have to go back to 1977-78 for the last time they won three consecutive clashes against them.
4.Neither side has been strong on the tackle front this season. The Blues are ranked 18th with an average of 57.2 per game, and the Tigers 17th with 60.2.
5.The Blues have been better in the middle though, and are ranked the No.1 centre clearance team this season with an average of 41.2. In comparison, the Tigers have struggled and are 14th with 36.8.
6.Riewoldt has soared up the Official AFL Player Ratings this season with his impressive run of form. He started the year at No.79 overall and is now No.38, and is the top-ranked Tiger.
IT'S A BIG WEEK FOR …
Shaun Hampson. With Ivan Maric suspended for a week, the opportunity has presented itself for Hampson to return to senior level against his former club. Despite not playing at any level since round nine because of a knee issue, the fact Hampson was held over from his VFL return on the weekend indicates an imminent return to the AFL stage.
PREDICTION: Richmond by 35 points

Carlton look set to be bolstered significantly by the return of key players for their meeting with arch rivals Richmond at the MCG on Friday night.
The club expects Andrew Walker (knee), Troy Menzel (knee), Sam Docherty (hamstring), Andrew Carrazzo (toe) and Sam Rowe (back) to overcome their injuries this week and be available for selection while Bryce Gibbs is due to return after a two-game suspension.
However, promising youngster Nick Graham is set to miss two to three weeks due to a stress reaction in his foot.

Have no confidence this week, our intensity since the bye has been questionable to say the least. With the forced changes I believe we are at our most vulnerable and given the Blues always seem to find their best against us its going to be an uphill battle to get the 4pts. Maric is a huge loss for us and along with Lids has proven to be one of our most important players. If Hamspud comes in then we lose a lot around the ground which is made worse given we are also missing Griff. Contested marks is not our strong point so losing a couple of our best won't make things easy.
-
If Carlton make 5 or 6 changes like the article suggests then they will be up against it to win.
-
If Carlton make 5 or 6 changes like the article suggests then they will be up against it to win.
Shhhh
-
Guys lets not make excuses if we a top 8 team we should win against the blues no questions asked with or without Maric and Griffths. The only question I have which Tigers will rock up.We just switch off and loose it mentally games we should win.
-
Definitely a danger game. No matter where the blues are situated on the ladder they always rise for matches against us. Need to be switched on from the beginning.
-
I think our biggest danger game is next week against the Saints.
If the Saints play the same fast, high presure, hight tackle game like they did against the Bombers then they'll do us cold. My only hope is it's tough to play that style week in week out, hopefully they ran there race last week.
We should beat the blues comfterbly....
-
Not overly confident about this game at all, in fact not at all despite recent maturity and will to run out games.
I just hope the team is hungry to go out there and run over the top of the blues.
We have not beaten them twice in a row in a season since 2006
2006 season round 5 & 20
Round 5 Fri 28 Apr 12:00am Blues MCG 54815 Win 92-848J. Bowden 25 M. Richardson 3

Not confident at all.
My hatred for the cheating scum is making me all the more nervous and I will not be satisfied unless we smash all the improvement out of them & send them back to mediocrecity.
-
Confident we'll win. She won't be pretty tho
-
I'd be more confident if Ivan was playing. Hampson may remind us tonight why he hasn't played senior for 12 months if he drops sitters, misses goals from 20m out and his ruck taps go to the Carlton mids :-\ .
Tonight is another test for our collective attitude. Will we finally turn up to a home game ready to play from the first bounce at the intensity and pressure that we can play at our best? We didn't last week and we didn't in round 1 against Carlton.
Add to that, have we learnt from last week's game to put the overkill sideways, backwards handball away and that long, quick and direct footy deep into the forward line is the sensible way to play in wet conditions?
-
Lmao what is up with these Bingle dancers? :lol dead set embarrassing

Bingle skydiving as well. Got to promote and please the sponsors :dancing.

They were canceled due to weather. :clapping
The Cho with a goal :bow
-
Lmao what is up with these Bingle dancers? :lol dead set embarrassing
Are they any relation to the "I didn't do it" dancers?
-
Ex-Blue Bannister umpiring tonight :-\.
-
Laura Bingle's dancing? Any poles involved? She could always use the goalposts.....
-
Jack first minute :gotigers.
6 - 0
-
Hampsons tap work really is quite good
-
We look 'on'......for a change
-
No frees tonight? Scragging allowed?
-
Eff you Jamison
-
Pimples with the point
-
Hampson holds a mark :o
If TV goes for a accidental head clash then the rule is a joke.
-
Lucky they are missing.
-
Gordon what the.....
-
Lids quick snap = point.
7 - 2
-
So no head high frees tonight? ::)
TV whacked in the jaw by Kreuzer (accident).
-
Some very dumb stuff out there :facepalm.
Titch should have just kicked it off the ground. Lids' snap misses.
8 - 4
-
That's better play and use of the footy. Switch to Rance who finds Lids on the lead. Goal :gotigers.
That hurts Carlton who misses 4 chances.
Rich 14
Carl 4
-
This IS a weird game. Casboult kicks one from 70m out :P.
14 - 10
-
Wtf richmond
-
That's not a mark! ::)
-
WTF is this poo richmond :sleep
-
Another quality first quarter ::).
1/4 time
Richmond 2.2-14
Carlton 1.4-10
Goals: Riewoldt, Deledio.
Need another Dimma spray to wake us up again. Some slack stuff out there :banghead.
-
Carlton stink, only getting footy off our wastefulness and then we're letting them chip it all the way up the field. Reckon we'll be right but we need to pull our finger out.
-
Vickery lost a tooth, the old vickery would be effected and not be seen. Let's see how he goes
-
Hampson took a mark.
-
Newman and Morris 0 possessions
Cotch, vickery & batch 1 possession each
-
Cotch's kick out the centre isn't great but Macca breaks the tackles and spots Jack on the boundary 30m out. The around the body kick is across the face and hits the behind post.
Dusty somehow while tackled kicks over his head but Ty can't grab it and it's point.
Macca marks the kick-in but Lids misses as well.
16 - 10
-
Have a shot Dusty instead of kicking to a contest!
-
Our kicks inside F50 has been pathetic!
-
WAKE UP
-
Great stuff Titch :clapping :gotigers
Rich 22
Carl 12
-
Edwards MAJIK :gotigers
-
Need to be 4 goals up at half time and keep pushing onwards.
Need to win and by a decent margin
-
Chaplin vs Casboult on the wing = slow motion :lol.
-
:gotigers
-
Geez we are playing horribly. Again. Simple as just hitting targets
-
Started well but Hamspud is back ::)
-
Terrible decision making TV. You had Titch running past on his own.
-
This is absolute horse poo
-
Ty so many options and picks the worst. Lobs it up nicr and high. So many poor decisions tonight made by rfc players
-
This is the worst game of footy I've ever seen
-
Brilliant kick by Jack to Cotch but Cotch misses a sitter :P.
Hampson limping.
23 - 19
-
Yeah. Good on you cotch. Captain material ::)
-
Jack tunnelled no free ::)
-
Going sideways and of course we cough it up :banghead
-
Most frustrating pure crap to watch. Don't let Newman play again please !!!!!!
-
This is the worst game of footy I've ever seen
What about last week?
Its a common theme, our games are poo to watch 9 times out of 10
-
Hunt off HB risky towards Cotch on the wing but Cotch gets the free and then Yarran gives away 50. Set shot 30m out. Goal (just) :gotigers.
Rich 29
Carl 19
-
Remember a finals bound carlton repeatedly giving us hidings?
Doesn't that burn inside them?
-
Gordon back to the ressies after this 'effort'.
-
Could we choose the worst option anymore tonight :banghead
-
Gordon fumbles and bumbles everything. Like watching a child play. We are so slow. Skills are so poor. Decision making is horrible. Would hate to see the score if we were playing a good side
-
Lmao Hampson was so shocked he marked it he didn't know which way to kick.
-
Half-time
Richmond 2.2 4.5-29
Carlton 1.4 2.7-19
Goals: Riewoldt, Deledio, Edwards, Cotchin.
All I'll say is it's lucky we're playing a crap Carlton because that was utter slop! :facepalm.
-
FFS :banghead
-
This is very embarrassment. :banghead
-
Too many forward 50 turn overs then letting them chip uncontested up the ground. Backline keeping us in it. Need to start trying to score rather than being too cute.
-
Again bottom 4 are hopeless. Newman Morris and Gordon are awful
Hampson is not fit
-
Without doubt the worst i have ever seen us play and still lead at half time. It was almost comical watching us move the ball forward, was cringing every time a player attempted to kick or handball, so many hospital passes they may as well be wearing nurses uniforms. Can someone tell Dusty to be selfish, could have rammed home at least 3 goals but instead he chips the ball when already inside 50, FFS take the game but the scruff of the neck, needs to dominate more than he does. And Newman, i know he isnt alone so far tonight but this guy is a deadset witches hat, cannot for the life of me imagine how he gets selected each week. If he didnt play and wasnt replaced i dont think anyone would notice the difference.
-
I don't like it. And I have the right to say it :banghead
-
Only Titch, Lids and Rance look like they've come to play with their heads screwed on.
-------------------------------------
Brett Deledio was influential in the first half with six score involvements, whilst Alex Rance restricted Carlton's entries with 18 disposals and four possession gains.
In that quarter, Richmond were able to transition from their defensive 50 more easily than Carlton. They launched an inside 50 from 62.5 per cent of defensive 50 chains compared to Carlton's 18.2 per cent.
Despite winning the clearance count 16-14 and making 13 more tackles than Richmond, Carlton's disposal efficiency of 7 per cent in the forward 50 has been poor. As a result, Richmond has launched 6 inside 50's from this zone creating 3 scores.
The Tigers have been efficient creating an inside 50 from 64 per cent of defensive half chains, but have only scored 1.1.7.
http://www.afl.com.au/match-centre/2015/15/rich-v-carl
-
Just 27 tackles for the half. That's just over 1 per Tiger.

Grigg 11
Cotch 11
Macca 9
Hunt 9

Lambert 0 .... (sub not used)
-
Grigg free (high) 45m out. Goal :gotigers
Rich 35
Carl 19
Needed that one.
-
Dusty on the run hits the point. That could have broken the game open.
36 - 19
-
Newman or Gordon take your pick
Wow
-
Jack clever over the back handpass to Cotch = Goal :gotigers
Rich 42
Carl 19
-
It really makes a difference when you're carrying 4-5 instead of 1-2
-
Great mark Jack. Goal :gotigers
Rich 48
Carl 19
-
Don't need our best players injured (Titch). Hopefully only a knock :-\.
Hunt to Jack on the lead. Goal. His 3rd :gotigers
Rich 54
Carl 19
-
What was Chaplin doing there? He could have jumped 3rd up and spoiled that.
-
That wasn't a mark to TV but it should have been a free instead for chopping the arms. Point.
55 - 25
-
Back to sleep again.
-
Why would you kick to 4-on-1 with our 1 (Jack) behind the 4? :huh
Costs us a soft goal on the rebound :banghead
-
Aaaand that'd the end
-
We get 6 goals up and switch off again and let them back in the game :banghead
-
These umps have no idea.
-
Yep it's game on again
Unbelievable how we switch off
-
Too many duds in the team
-
Yep agree bents
-
2 holding the balls to us there not paid. As I said these umps have no idea.
-
Odd balls.
Umps I just can't read
-
Titch subbed off (calf injury).
Lambert on.
-
3/4 time
Richmond 2.2 4.5 8.7-55
Carlton 1.4 2.7 4.9-33
Goals: Riewoldt 3, Cotchin 2, Deledio, Edwards, Grigg.
Stepped up a gear in first half of the quarter and then went to sleep again :banghead.
Losing Titch is a significant loss as we lose his line breaking.
-
The umpires :lol
-
So unpleasant to watch.
-
Can't get over how poor a judge of the ball in flight Gordon is, never seen a player run under the ball so often, ducking pathetic tbh
Newman has found a new level of poo tonight
-
Win lose or draw Morris, Newman, Gordon and Chaplin have to go.
How much longer can we preserver with these fools ::)
-
Carrazzo LOL :lol
Rain pouring down now.
-
How smart is Jack :bow.
Misses though.
56 - 34
-
Clever lids and it lands up with Gordon 35m out. Runs out to the right and misses to the right.
57 - 34
-
Clever lids and it lands up with Gordon 35m out. Runs out to the right and misses to the right.
Carlton stuff the kick-in. From the stoppage, Lids sees TV in the pocket who marks and runs into an open goal :gotigers
Rich 63
Carl 34
-
Hampson takes another mark (7 tonight) and this one is a contested park mark inside 50 :o.
Doesn't make the distance though.
-
We've been lucky tonight we've played a crap side.
Can someone tell Dusty to go for the running long goal when there's nothing else on.
-
LOL Hampson almost kicked that,
64 - 35
7 mins to go.
-
umpiring towards both us and carlton is insane...I can't figure it out...
Hampson has had a good game, he might actually be getting rid of his spudism
-
Lambert long and Dusty marks in the goalsquare. Goal :gotigers
And that's the sealer.
Rich 70
Carl 41
3 mins to go.
-
Dusty to strong for Touhy and finds Lambert 40m out. Doesn't mark the distance and is rushed through.
71 - 41
-
A win is a win but this one is getting wiped straight off the IQ2
-
Up to 5th spot.
Final Score
Richmond 2.2 4.5 8.7 10.11-71
Carlton 1.4 2.7 4.9 5.11-41
Goals: Riewoldt 3, Cotchin 2, Deledio, Edwards, Grigg, Vickery, Martin
-
Good to get the win, let's leave it at that
Hampson was pretty good, Lambert for the first time looked comfortable at this level- was encouraging
-
Good to get the win, let's leave it at that
Hampson was pretty good, Lambert for the first time looked comfortable at this level- was encouraging
Hampson very good in the air tonight, did his job, Lambert worth persisting with, he has missed a bit of footy so can take 3-4 weeks to find his feet.
-
We are carrying way to many duds.
Lucky we have some genuine stars to get us across the line the last couple of weeks.
Also thought Ellis was sh17full tonight.
Looking forward to getting the other Ellis back.
-
Wish lids kicked a bit more straight. but he was great as the HHF role tonight
-
Newman and Ellis.
stuff them off
-
The whole team is starting to look tired, think next week against the Saints will test us for speed, simply can't continue to carry Newman especially, offers absolutely zilch.
-
Lambert was good, Hampson was good, unlucky Edwards, Ellis and Dusty were in lala land, our delivery into fwd 50 was pretty poor, especially on our break aways
-
I'm sure that this won't be popular but tonight was our best performance in the ruck
-
Hampson was actually decent
-
Nick holmam
Tom fields
Simon white
:huh
.did Carlton just plucks guys from the crowd
Hampson was actually decent
Thankfully Cameron wood is a dud
-
Hampson was actually decent
and Morris shut down Yarran.
Seems the selectors might actually know what they are doing.
:lol

Again played poorly but won = a good sign
Thought Lambert was a lot better last night. Showed a bit and was up with the tempo of the game = well done
Hampson, a pleasant surprise took some marks, still can't kick well to save himself but can't have everything
Rance is a Champion
As for Newman, Gordon
Terrific, just terrificTM
-
Turf riffing indeed
-
Worst game for some time. Thank god Carlton as so crap. I normally rewatch games before I pass comment but I don't want to sit though that again.
Some players that get plenty of comments
Hampson - Much better than I expected
Newman - Invisible, not sure why the selectors cant see that.
Gordon - Plain Horrible, plays as if he is nervous. Needs to go back and find his game.
Lambert - Much better than the two above in only 1 quarter
Rance - BOG
Jack - Again he stood up, I have been critical of him in the past but he has been very good this year.
Vlaustin - 2nd BOG
Vickery - Was horrid, little better in last quarter but on the whole horrid. One handed, lazy attempts do not cut it.
and for some controversy
Morris - Much better than given credit, he had a job to do and he did it. Yarran had little effect on game. Sure he could of got a bit of the ball himself but if the pass mark was stopping Yarran then he would get one.
-
I thought the conditions last night played havoc with the playing group. The wind was very swirly and the players were finding it hard to judge the flight of the ball. That said, there were many poor decisions going forward. We were lucky that Carlton were worse than us.
-
No frees tonight? Scragging allowed?
Spoke too soon :lol
-
Stiffy has them working hard

Wow
-
I thought Grigg was pretty good compared to others he didnt turn it over as much as some of our more lauded players.
-
Well Martin was pretty abysmal at times....but the other "more lauded players" pretty much won us the game....
-
Again played poorly but won = a good sign

Hampson, a pleasant surprise took some marks, still can't kick well to save himself but can't have everything

Terrific, just terrificTM
Agree. Lambert was quite good as the sub. Gordon and Newman should be dropped for their performances. Both were sub standard.
-
There is a sub conscious stupid ranking system IMHO
