No Newman or Morris being dropped, ffs. I can't believe the selections at this club.
So Lennon and Maric will get in.
-
hopefully newman late out.
he no longer has a role in this team...definite liability....
-
Being a Sunday Game team will be finalised tomorrow around 5pm
-
n. riewoldt is surely still in massive doubt to play given they've named both mccartin and goddard into the squad

Dont know how the forward line will function

Dont know how the forward line will function
I'm confused too :-[
-
Dont know how the forward line will function
Will be overly dependent on Jack.
-
At a guess I'd say:-
McDonough, Lennon and big Ivvy come in with lambert getting dropped.
Lennon gets his chance on a wing and they give McDonough a crack at the forward role Lambert has had.
Personally think Morris did his job last week - Yarran had cut us up over the years, he frustrated him out of the contest.
Would love to see Newman dropped but not gonna happen
-
Dont know how the forward line will function
I think we will have to rely heavily on mids going forward and blokes like Deledio taking turns out of the square.
-
As if Newman will be dropped...need those 7 possessions & 3 tackles he'll provide....combined with Morris....

To be fair, he'll get those touches in the last 5 minutes of the match, when it's on the line.

Not sure about playing 2 ruckman when neither of them are much chop up forward, especially Spudson.
Maric is useful in the forward line, but only when he drifts in there, as a deep tall, not so much.
I am a supporter of playing 2 rucks, but not these 2 together. It makes the forward line look unbalanced.
The selection committee have got a bit of a stiffy about Hampson's form last week, and he was good, but he is a suitable selection as first ruck only and in last weeks circumstances only imv.

Gordon in the starting 18 so he won't be dropped. Not surprised with Titch out and the game at Etihad on a dry track. Our match committee is very predictable that way.
Don't see room for Dea in the backline.
Lloyd didn't play last week in the VFL, so I'll be surprised if he gets picked.
I can't see Dimma and the match committee with the way they think playing McDonough and Morris both in the same side as forwards with Gordon already there. So one of them will be the other one to miss out IMO.

They've given him until Saturday to decide. Don't want to have any late changes on Sunday if they can help it.
People are a little stiff on Lambert. People want the newbies given extended goes and this guy comes back from injury and has improved after each game and people want him shafted. Yet Gordon gets a free pass :lol
-
Still think Lambert will be handy. Just picking up the pace now.
-
It's going to be interesting to see how our structure holds up with this strange mix. To be fair, Hammer did clunk a few last weekend. Although I worry they were his last 5 marks for the year and he is ready to turn in a vintage crab performance on Sunday.
-
Hampson took 8 marks and looked a far superior ruckman than Maric to anybody who isn't as blind as a bat.
If Hampson is properly fit I don't see the point in playing Maric TBH. Neither bloke are any good in the F50 and with Griffiths/Vickery out I was really hoping to see McBean come into the side based on his VFL form.
One of Maric/Hampson will have to be subbed in the 3rd QTR and just hope to goodness they can kick at least 1 goal between them until that point.
-
Gordon should have been gone along with Newman and Morris.Lambert played well after coming on would like to see Donuts and Lennon got to reward form.
-
If one of Hamspud and Maric spend time in the forward line then its really putting extra emphasis on the fact of how bleak our current small forward stocks are. Really the talls should be getting the ball to ground if they cant mark but with no decent small forwards and having ruckmen as forwards who are slow as treacle i fear the ball is going to head out of our attacking 50 quicker than my wife moves towards a shoe shop, and thats quick :-) Really dont understand Newman's role at the moment (if in fact he has one), noticed on a couple of occasions in the last couple of games that he contested marks with Jack which just doesnt make sense, either he is there to crumb in the forward line and/or provide another forward option or its a complete waste of time. Wouldnt mind seeing Lloyd in for this reason, he has much better goal sense than anyone else we have and does have that X factor about him. I think the overwhelming assessment is that Newman should drop out and anyone else who comes in would do a better job.
-

Yes that is indeed true but anyone with half a brain can remember that is Hampsons first good game in 3 years. His last good game was when he gave Griffiths a bath playing for Carlton. If he can provide consistency he is definitely far superior to Maric but at the moment Maric continually provides something around the ground although he is way behind his output of 2012. Rucking has always and will continue to be subpar

The statement that Hampson is a better ruckman than Maric is not supported by evidence.

Just saw that on Supercoach FB page. Surely if he's been carrying it for a few weeks he will just keep playing? Especially considering we've already lost a few. 8 day break as well.

:clapping
Completely opposite feelings to last week's selections. Well done Dimma.
-
Lennon, Mcdo, Maric are playing
Morris dropped
-
Would prefer Morris to Newman to be honest.
-
Maybe if played in his better positon as a backman but honestly reckon he offers less than Newman (if you can provide less than nothing?)
Pretty good selections for once :clapping . Would've preferred Bean or Astbury over Maric

WHISPERS
COULD Richmond be tempted to give Dustin Martin a rest?
The explosive Tiger has been off the boil in recent weeks, managing just 21 disposals at 57 per cent efficiency last week against Carlton. The sluggish outing included seven clangers and just the one tackle.
Richmond coach Damien Hardwick last week conceded he had four or five “very sore boys” when quizzed about the prospect of “managing” players to freshen them up for a finals tilt.
Martin was singled out as one of the Tigers to go into the match with little or no training under his belt.
Dusty posted an old photo on Instagram this week with his hand bandaged — is he telling us something?

Sore hand?
Doesn't excuse kicking straight to the opposition when your teammate is clear. :banghead
Sore boys?
Didn't they rest up during the bye?
-
Lloyd replaced on the emergency list by Thomas :shh
Late in for Martin?
-
It doesn't look like Morris was that good last week then does it. :snidegrin
Must stay out now and we must leave the kids in, trade Morris at the end of the year with Conca!!
-
Lloyd replaced on the emergency list by Thomas :shh
Late in for Martin?
hope not...not exactly like for like...
i would have preferred to have lloyd in than thomas...as someone who can go forward and kick goals, esp as griffo/vickery/edwards are all out.....need a bit more forward line potency...
-
A 50% Martin playing in the forward pocket is better than GORDON, LAMBERT and THOMAS in the team!
No to Thomas :banghead
-
Team reverted back ?
-
I'm not happy. It seems as though we are throwing true team balance and structure to the wind. Or at least taking a series of significant structural risks.
I'm obviously not completely central to the clubs doings but i sense a fair dose of percieved necessity and a heap of arrogance.
