Rest week. I hope they don't rush him back too early. I'd wait until the GC game and then use him as a sub for the next two games.

Late fade-out costs VFL Tigers
By Catherine Durkin
July 25, 2015 6:15 PM
Richmond’s VFL squad has succumbed to a fast-finishing Sandringham, by 45 points on Saturday afternoon at the ME Centre.
After dominating disposal early, the Tigers led for most of the game, taking a seven-point lead into the final break.
But after a four goal to five third quarter in Sandringham’s favour, the Zebras stormed out of the blocks in the fourth, piling on an early lead, which quickly grew to eight unanswered goals.
VFL coach Tim Clarke said he was extremely disappointed with the way the Tigers finished the game.
“At the start of the game we played some really good footy, but we couldn’t control it the way we would like going forward,” he said.
“We had a lot of inside 50s, we moved the ball well, and the players were playing well. But we just couldn’t score.
“That’s a problem when you’ve got an inexperienced side at times. You play some really good footy and then you let yourselves down at times.
“You just hope that as a coach, and as a team, that the let downs don’t hurt you too much on the scoreboard, and they didn’t for the first three quarters. But from there they really got a hold of us in the last.”
Despite applying relentless pressure and holding Sandringham goalless in the second quarter, the Tigers only managed one goal and four behinds themselves, taking a 14-point lead into half time.
The half time margin was to be Richmond’s biggest for the day.
Liam McBean kept Richmond in the contest up forward, kicking three goals in the first half and a total of four for the game.
Reece Conca also provided flashes of brilliance through the middle. He finished with 28 disposals, laid five tackles and appears to be recovering well after spending a considerable amount of the season on the injury list.
Matt Arnot topped the possession stats with 33 (15 contested) and was an integral player in Richmond’s forward transition.
The game marked the return of Corey Ellis after several weeks on the sidelines. He got through the game unscathed and injected some much-needed finesse at times. He also managed to push forward and kick a goal.
Richmond will be tested again next week when they face ladder leader Box Hill on Saturday.
FINAL SCORES
Richmond 3.3 4.7 8.7 15.12.102

Menadue actually touching the ball :clapping
Anyone see where Morris played? Funnily enough got plenty of it but no goals.

Shapes getting plenty of it the last fortnight as well.
Morris was ok - he should be as state league is his level. Wouldn't object to him being brought in specifically for Hawthorn as a backman with all their smalls though. Not that I think he'll be able to do all that much with Rioli, Breust and little Pepe le Ploppo all running at him.

Funny he starts playing what looks to be decent footy again (19 touches and 10 tackles). Did you see how he actually went or do the stats paint a prettier picture?

Do you think there is room for him in the backline? I reckon the only spot he could take is Hunts but even then I don't know who is better.

Was a fairly typical Morro game TBH,, some great courage, hard hits at the man, couple of chase downs, spoilt by some wayward kicking & poor decision making
Matty Arnott was good, wouldn't surprise if he got a call to replace Poodle Hunt

It's a conundrum - I really think Hunt should be dropped and had hoped we'd seen the last of Morris yet thinking about it some more, we almost need them both down there from a defensive point of view, especially for this match - problem is, we definitely can't afford them both from an attacking point of view, especially for this match.
-
In first half I thought last straw for hunt , 4 blunders . Spent sec half in deep defence and was pretty solid , prob do need him for Hawks to play on one of their fleet footed smalls . Don't bother with Morris, I watched a bit of vfl, he was struggling there. Won't get another contract unfortunately for him
-
Excited for conca and c Ellis to get back in the side. Surely Newman out for conca in the next few weeks. Lennon doing enough to keep his spot ? Hunt ? Edwards to come back soon.. Got some good depth building. Probably need a few more key position players and ruck.

Richmond’s VFL coach Tim Clarke's summary:
Matt Arnot
33 disposals, four clearances, four tackles
Played his second really good game in-a-row. Was used predominantly through the midfield, with a small stint at half-back. Had more than 30 possessions, was very good inside, and continues to show impressive improvement.
Reece Conca
28 disposals, five tackles, three clearances
Took another key step in his comeback from long-term injury. Showed very good movement around the ball, but was a bit slow to dispose of it at times. We’re looking forward to him either playing one more game at VFL level, or making his transition into AFL ranks this week. He’s been fantastic with his attitude and effort for us.
Connor Menadue
25 disposals, three clearances, five marks, one goal
Produced the best performance of his debut season with the Club. Played the majority of time at half-back, picking up 25 possessions. He helped set up our offense, and he’s really starting to feel comfortable in this role. Importantly, from a long-term perspective, he now has the ability to play through half-back, wing and half-forward. It’s been a really good opportunity for him to show his on-field flexibility.
Jason Castagna
24 disposals, six marks, two tackles
Continued his comeback from a lengthy stint on the sidelines with 24 touches off the half-back line. He needed, however, to use the ball a bit better, and that will be a focus of his at training this season. But his exciting style of play, and what he brings to the team in setting us up defensively, is terrific.
David Astbury
22 disposals, nine marks
Is playing some really dominant football, either in the forward line or defence. When we needed him as a backman, he limited his opponent’s influence, and also helped set us up offensively. He was able to impact up forward with a couple of strong marks and, even though he didn’t hit the scoreboard, he was still a solid contributor.
Steve Morris
20 disposals, seven tackles
Was outstanding defensively. He also became involved more offensively, which was really pleasing because it has been a focus of his, over the past few weeks, to have more of an attacking impact on the game. We’re hoping, whether it be with the VFL team, or at senior level, he can maintain that focus.
Corey Ellis
18 disposals, three tackles, four marks, one goal
Took a bit of time to get into the game after coming back from injury. Moved very well, and was impressive with his ball use, but he was a little disappointed with his output and how long it took for him to get going.
Nathan Gordon
16 disposals, seven marks, one goal
Played the majority of the game forward, with some stints on the wing. Was very good early on, helping set up two or three shots for goal. Faded out of the game when Sandringham gained the ascendancy. We expect a better performance from him next week and beyond.
Matt Dea
14 disposals, five marks
Didn’t win as much of the ball offensively, as he had been, but took several good, strong marks, which he’s been able to do over the past few weeks. The expectation we have of Matt is for him to play his role when in defence, and he did that again.
Liam McBean
14 disposals, four goals
His critical contest work was much better than it had been in previous weeks. Kicked 4.3, so he was able to hit the scoreboard and have a real impact in that area. His recent consistent goalkicking form is good to see.
Reece McKenzie
13 disposals, six marks
Was very good in the critical contest area, taking a couple of strong contested marks, which is really becoming a feature of his game. There is an expectation now that he does this every time he plays. We’re looking forward to him continuing his strong form.
Todd Elton
Eight disposals
Played only half a game in his return from injury. Performed reasonably, but we require more from him. We expect him to develop as a key defender.
Ivan Soldo
Two disposals, 11 hit-outs
Worked tirelessly for the majority of the game against two fairly good opposition ruckmen. Continues to show improvement with his ruckwork and technique. Needs to impact the game more around the ground, and that will be a focus for him over the coming weeks.
Dan Butler
One disposal, one clearance, one tackle
Returned from a long-term injury and played only a half, in his role as a small forward. Unfortunately, it was the half where Sandringham controlled the game. He’ll get more game time this week and will have more opportunities to impact up forward.

Only worrying thing about this kid.

His disposal is shocking - will probably get another year but won't be around for too much longer than that if it doesn't drastically improve.
