Apart from Hawthorn , who look like they are in a class of their own.
I can't remember a Richmond team this close to being perhaps the second or third best team in the competition.
West Coast are a worthy number two - but the gulf is not huge.
One silly brain fade away from beating the Dockers twice in 6 weeks.
Sydney look shot to pieces
If we can finish 4th ( tough but not impossible ) and play the Dockers in the first week of the finals -
Dare to dream.

It's definitely the gayest.
-
No.
-
Only if we lose the prelim by less than 10 goals....
-
easily the best and most consistent team we have had since 1982
3 finals appearances in a row, beats 2 prelims in 6 years

If we actually gave the c Ellis, Lennon, mcbean a run instead , it might be
-
Yea it would be , some nice depth in the wings too :shh

Let's revisit once the season is over
Right now I'd say - don't know just don't know

Imagine if we were playing West Coast , Fremantle or Sydney in a Preliminary final.
Not saying we would win but it would be exciting times

Unless we crapped ourselves like the Port and Carlton finals. Still a bit suspect under real pressure when the occasion calls for the opposite.

This is the best Richmond team since 1982 at this time of the season and in terms of its ability to match it with the best sides in the comp. The 1995 side blitzed the first half of the season until the loss of Freezer in round 5 and then Richo and Stuart Wigney both in round 9 at the SCG, all took its toll.

I arrived in Oz in 1985, so it is the best I have seen

Like stuffen whoa man , is it ever :clapping

And should be a lot better.
Rockliff instead of Hislop.
Barlow instead of Webberley.
Heppell instead of Conca.
Really, really dumb recruiting decisions
Would be a team last week:
Grimes Rance Houli
Vlastuin Chaplin Heppell
Ellis Cotchin McIntosh
Lids Vickery Martin
Maric Riewoldt Rockliff
Hampson Barlow Miles
Int: Grigg Batchelor Hunt Lennon
with Conca, Lloyd and Newman out of the side
Injury: Griffith Edwards C Ellis Drummond
Backup: Astbury Elton Menadue Lennon Lambert Elton McBean
The big thing about the three (Rockliff, Heppell, Barlow) we didn't take is that they gather big disposal totals, can run through the midfield and create/kick goals. oh and also ooze leadership.
We would be clear premiership favourites this year and for the next five.

We haven't even locked away a place in the finals yet, let alone won a final - how can you say that?
-
1995 we finished 3rd out of 16 teams with 15 wins, 1 draw and a percentage of 107, and played in a prelim.
2001 we finished 4th out of 16 teams with 15 wins and a percentage of 107 and played in a prelim.
2015 we are 6th out of 18 teams with 11 wins and will start favourites in 4/5 final games. We have a current percentage of 112. We will finish with 14-15 wins and a percentage of around 110. If we make an elimination final and don't get belted like 2001 and 1995, best side since 1982. Til then, the jury is out.

Dangerfield, Trelor and a couple others, and all is forgiven

Il let you know in the finals series.

I can't commit at this stage - too many seasons have unravelled over the years.
I do think we are building some good momentum, the wins have been of a higher quality this year. I can't remember beating 3 favourites for the flag in one season - 2 away from home. I've also enjoyed seeing the club bunker down early this season - despite my being one of the dissenters. :santa
Finally, I'm really hoping that there's no resigning Dimma this season. Solidarity but no jumping the gun.
Sadly, I've seen this unravel too many times before and so I'll sit back a bit longer before making any calls.
-
I still think there is improvement from this team, particularly in the backline where Grimes hasnt hit 50 games. Vlastuin is young, Astbury is out injured and under 50 games. McKintosh is under 50 games. Ellis is young and a great kick. Finally we seem to have a pipeline on developing players. Itight not be the best since 82 but it looks a firmer chance that its going to become better than 2001 or 1995.
