Yes
Possibly
Probably not
Not possible
I'm thinking probably not (as opposed to impossible) but this is mainly because there is no stand out team and we have a good record against the contenders is pretty good.
On the flip side, I'd be nervous playing Norf or the Crows at Adelaide Oval.
-
No, still a year or two off. When Ellis and Lennon develop a little further we will challenge.
-
Of course we can
-
Yes we can but we probably won't.
-
Definitely can, we've shown we're good enough, just need a bit of luck at the right moments - like all sides that win it.
-
Need a little luck
Starting with the Saints doing the right thing tomorrow
-
the drought will break in 2016 or 2017
-
We definitely can, but probably not.

Of course we can

Depends on Vickery.
The big log will need to have the month of his life.
Being realistic we are a few players short
-
By the looks of the game so far we will be out in straight sets
-
Change the thread title to can we beat a bottom 3 team?
-
Will we win a final, ought to be the real question. Maybe.
-
yep
-
When was the last time we beat all of Collingwood, Carlton and Essendon twice in a season?
-
My word we can, a quick straw poll of top 8 combatants had the Tigers as the least preferred opponent :shh

When was the last time we beat all of Collingwood, Carlton and Essendon twice in a season?
We didn't lose to any of three in 2006 but we only played the Pies once.
The last time we beat all of Collingwood, Carlton and Essendon twice in a season was back in 1931.

Holy Schnikees! :o

After watching Adelaide smash the Eagles just now l think the flag is open for whoever wants it the most.
Yes l think we have the team & backing to go all the way now. :gotigers

Think the only teams who can't win are Norf and the Dogs
6 can win it !

ironic
two sides that own us
crows match up well on us too
we are good vs. top 4

Which team beyond the top four has the best chance of having a serious crack at a flag?

I reckon it's Richmond who tick the most boxes, provided they can get past a far truer representation of North Melbourne than they shrugged off last Friday night.
Neither a road trip to Perth nor Sydney to play Fremantle or Sydney in week two would worry the Tigers unduly, given they've already won at both venues this season.
The bulk of Richmond's victories in 2015 have been on the back of a steely defensive mindset and the sort of tough contested brand which stands up well in September.
But the Tigers' forward set-up is functioning as well right now as it has for a long time. Ty Vickery's last month has had plenty to do with that, allowing Jack Riewoldt further afield without robbing Peter to pay Paul so much, but Richmond's goalkicking spread has been impressive, too, with 10 or more individual goalkickers in three of their past four games.
The Tigers are entitled to go into Sunday's elimination final favourite. But only marginally. And on a weekend when you could easily tip the card or end up with zero. Not great if you're a punter. But music to the ears of the AFL.

Perhaps its an open flag as they say, or perhaps its not?
Who can win it outside the top 4? Richmond? possibly, you have to believe we can and back the boys in 100%
Last year riding high on an emotional driven game plan Port Adelaide were able to:
Finish 5th on the ladder with 14-8 win/loss
Some of their close losses:
Lose narrowly to Sydney at the scg by 4 pts
Lose to the bombers at adelaide by 2 pts
Lose to collingwood at the mcg by 6 pts
Lose to freo in perth at perth by 8 pts
Finals campaign:
beat richmond by 57 points at home
beat fremantle by 22 points in perth
lost to hawks by 3 points at mcg (eventually premiers)
Thats as close as ive seen a team outside the 8 go for it for a few years anyway.
Our game style is not emotion driven, there is a maturity about our team. Experience in finals and a resolve to not let themselves down again.
We have the quality mids, fwds and backline and on our given day we will trouble anyone.
Dare to dream :gotigers
-
If we can get passed North this weekend our confidence will grow and we will settle mentally. We will be in it up to our eyeballs.
-
We should beat north and I'm pretty confident of beating sydney the week after in Sydney.
Might play Hawthorn to make the big dance???

Gee whiz you jump all over the place
-
Of course.
No room on the bandwagon for non believers..LOL
-
i see no reason why we cant beat north. We have the cattle just got to get a good start. Im that confident i am putting the tigers in very multi.
Time to be positive for the rest of the week lads.
We are certainties for this one, and the big dance
-
We can beat North, we can win every game including the GF, dependent on the Richmond team that turns up on the day. That's my only worry....
If we had beaten the Crows, Dees, Dockers, Eagles when really we should have then this would be in the bag for mine. But the silly slip ups along the way puts doubt in my mind for this game.
-
I think this week is a 50/50 proposition, unfortunately. We are playing a team that made a prelim' last year. They also play a brand of footy that seems to open us up like few teams can.
-
Got to get past Sunday first (touchwood :pray) but if we were to pull off a miracle, then no one will be able to say we didn't earn it, with us needing to win two interstate finals to make Grand Final day.
EF: North @ MCG
SF: Swans @ ANZ or Freo @ Subiaco
PF: West Coast @ Subiaco
GF: Back home @ MCG
The only positive is we've had a good recent record at Subiaco :-\.
-
Its West Coasts flag IMHO. They beat us at the G, I cant see how we can beat them on there own ground. Ill be happy if we win on Sunday. It will mean a very successful year. Load up the list with some new talent and roll the dice in 2016.
-
Yep very impressive West Coast. Have come from no where too. The fact they have a week off to freshen up is frightening .
-
Theoretically we could play in Perth two weeks in a row . Can't see the Swanies winning though .
-
If we were any chance IMO it was through the Hawks at the G. Eagles very good chance to win the flag. Just win Sunday and I think we will be a good show against Sydney (assuming they lose). Amazing year if we just got that far.

We were never beating the Eagles that night - we did well to stay in touch. Eagles have been good all year and that night I realized they were a genuine top 4 side.
-
Have always thought (though have kept it to myself) Win Sunday We are a really good show for a prelim final
Have also been of the belief the winner of last night's game would win the flag, haven't changed that view. It's just a different team now
-
Agreed Willy, it's hard to think beyond tomorrow tho
-
Win tomorrow and lets see.
Will be extremely tough to win two finals on the road to make a GF.
Makes winning your games against lesser opposition like Melbourne and co critical in the final
scheme of things. We only finished two games off top spot yet tomorrow night we could be mothballs.
-
Well if we get through tomorrow we are off to Sydney, to play at that crap stadium ANZ
-

Franklin out
Reid maybe out
Rance would own Tippett
We'd be a good shout vs Sydney
-
Agreed.
I'd be more good confident going into that game than I am about tomorrow.
