Just wondering about the ducks and drakes with Griffith when they openly told the media earlier in the week that he would not be right for the first final. Seems to be an obvious red herring to put the Roos off their strategies but too obvious unless of course they are really thinking of playing him.

Griff is tempting if fit.
Lloyd's game time has been limited since his lengthy stint in the reserves.
A 24 degree day, Griff's hands would be stickier than the carpet of the Royal Hotel.

Do not bring in Morris ffs. He will give Thomas free kicks all day with his clumsiness....could cost us the game.

Conca in if anyone and play the great Batchelor on Thomas, let's see his worth.

Do you think Grimes is agile enough to take Thomas on?

That could be a mistake.

This game will be one by the midfields. If we get the ball out of congestion and win contested possessions we will win. We need to get the ball in our hands and play our way - if that happens North cant beat us.

Hey WAT not to be rude or anything but do you watch many games? Batch has been playing tall all year (apart from when grimes was injured and we had no choice) and Grimes has played on the smalls and done very well IMO. So yes, Grimes will be agile enough

Batch does more right than he does wrong. He is part of a backline which has become one of the most elite in the competition. Dimma loves him.

Even Alex Rance still has " Alex Rance" moments.

I'll back Match Commitee and the coaches on this one.

Lennon might be unfit. His output was way down when the heat was on in the first half last week

Me too but I can tell you he was seriously weighing up his options not that long ago. He thought he might of turned a corner and was leaning towards Tigers but this has probably thrown a spanner in there

We haven't been typically big scorers but NM lose almost every time they concede 90 points. Lloyd and Lennon are good for 4-6 goals. I'm now a little concerned that we are lacking scorers. Griffiths might be good for 2 or 3 but now we're going to require Jack to get on the board and hopefully some more input from the mids.

Fingers crossed! Though I guess it had to be done to stop Hansen from constantly zoning off and picking off the incoming kick. Too often we kicked to a 2 on 1 only for him to send it back out. That being said, we were pretty wasteful with our entries. Sure they were deep but they were always just bombed into our blokes double teamed and more often than not to north's advantage.

No, Derek Kickett was treated rather averagely, Lenno has been given  every opportunity , said himself he wasn't working hard enough, 3 or 4 good games doesn't give you automatic selection every week.

Otherwise we don't have a clue and it's utterly disgraceful. More so,  it puts the result into jeopardy.

Happy with whatever team we go in with as long as we win. Lose and the heat definitely on the selection committee including the coach should Conca and Griff end up passengers. Unfortunately we only get the one crack at it so hopefully all the football brains at the club have made this decision based on the intel available to them and based on that i trust their judgement at this point in time.

HB:  Houli, Vlastuin, Chaplin
C:  B. Ellis, Cotchin, McIntosh
HF:  Martin, Griffiths, Edwards
F:  Riewoldt, Deledio, Vickery

IC:  Grimes, Miles, Conca, Lambert

Emg: Lloyd, Lennon, Morris.

In:  Griffiths, Conca
Out:  Lloyd (omitted), Lennon (omitted)

---------------------------------------------------------

“[Reece] has probably had three weeks of training now on the track and been going flat out,” said Richmond assistant coach Brendon Lade.

“It’s been really positive for him to get through all those sessions . . .

“He adds that zip around the contest and he generally uses the ball very well.”

Griffiths has made a quicker recovery than expected after damaging a finger tendon in the Round 17 loss to Fremantle.

“Ben trained Tuesday and got through and we thought he might be a chance.  He then trained really well on Thursday and did everything asked of him,” Lade said.

“He played really well against North down in Hobart, Round 6, and to have another target down forward is good for us.”

We cant seriously have our coach making selections for a FINAL and having to take considerations and being pushed to select players based on whether they might leave the club if not chosen. If that scenario at all existed Id be disgusted, have to consider whether I wanted to keep supporting this club.

Having said that, Lennon is very stiff. Id almost prefer him over Griff.

I agree with that, was a horrible performance by Richmond. Just reckon it's silly for Lade to claim a guy who got knocked out after doing little was "very good".

His best game was against Freo at Subi in the first quarter. Griff was fantastic then and helped set up the victory. But he was fit then and did not have a tendon injury.
He'll be nowhere near that form now.
He shouldn't play.

If he does, I pray he proves me wrong. :pray

Lennon unlucky. Understand why brought Conca and Griffiths in but big risk because both lack match fitness.

Might be a bit of a master stroke this, I am not sure Lennon should have been dropped but if you think about it we were really lacking forward presence in the first half against North and Griff may just be able to break this game open. Or at least open up the forward line.

I knew Conco would come in..

I just get the feeling Griff won't play and Lennon, Lloyd or even McBean if they want to use the three talls may be the late change.

Bye bye Lennon it was nice knowing you. Hopefully you are part of the deal that gets us a good player not the Yarren deal

Hope you are wrong and he stays with us but if he wants out like any other player.....see ya! I think he will stay :thumbsup

Me too but I can tell you he was seriously weighing up his options not that long ago. He thought he might of turned a corner and was leaning towards Tigers but this has probably thrown a spanner in there

Happens when he and his family get told on 4 occasions he was to debut only to be changed last minute. Including a trip interstate that Ben left available and friends books flights to go watch him but was changed.

Yeah been treated rather averagely, especially when other blokes can walk back into the team

No, Derek Kickett was treated rather averagely, Lenno has been given  every opportunity , said himself he wasn't working hard enough, 3 or 4 good games doesn't give you automatic selection every week.

If you read above, it wasn't just about making it into the team but rather ways they went about it

I wouldn't take what he says around the club too seriously. Don't get me wrong, Richmond are still in with a chance (well they were). Not sure what his dropping will do, depends on a couple of factors.

Returning Tigers get through final session

AFL.com.au
September 12, 2015

RICHMOND looks set to roll the dice with returning forward Ben Griffiths in Sunday's elimination final against North Melbourne after he completed Saturday's final training run at Punt Road Oval.

Midfielder Reece Conca is also in line to play his first game since round 19 and just his third of the season after giving his troublesome hamstrings a workout in Saturday's 45-minute session.

Griffiths is returning well ahead of schedule after undergoing surgery in July to repair a finger tendon, which was injured against Fremantle in round 17.

He had initially been expected to miss up to 10 weeks and said one week ago that he was unlikely to return this season unless the Tigers progressed through to a Grand Final.

The 23-year-old trained with the main group with a glove protecting his injured left hand on Thursday before he was named in a 25-man squad.

After making the final 22 on Friday, he trained in a glove again on Saturday and was marking on the lead comfortably.

He protected his left hand when spoiling or marking in contests and spent a large portion of the sessions working separately with Ty Vickery at one end of the ground.

The Tigers have named impressive youngster Ben Lennon as an emergency, but the classy ball-user trained with the main group on Saturday and is the most likely inclusion if the Tigers make a late change on Saturday.

Emergencies Steven Morris and Sam Lloyd also trained on Saturday in a 27-man group that also included key tall David Astbury and ruckman Shaun Hampson.

Why would Griff come in if he is protecting his hand at training... :-\

I reckon he won't. Dimma is just playing funny buggers. I expect Conca or Lennon to play.

If he wants to go 3 talls, reckon club will be willing to roll the dice and play McBean.

Still cannot believe we went in with Griff hasn't played in 6weeks and Conca 4weeks for a final and dropped Lennon and Lloyd, our team dynamics worked well with them both of late and pure stupidity by Dimma for me we were behind the game before the first bounce poor coaching !!.
