One of the big tests for us is to not only try and build and develop a quality list with depth but to also have guys who will step up with something special and get us across the line in the big games and the finals.
In the past it's been these big games where we haven't even given a yelp and our "top" senior players go missing. We also haven't had that magic cameo player who could blow a game apart in a short while such as a Aker, Davis or Wanganeen. In the 2001 finals it was probably Tivs :o who was arguably one of our best players while other big names were quiet.
So who do think on our current list are or can end up big-game/finals players?

Well I'll pump for the obvious LIDS
Bling could definately be a game breaker.
And if Cogs can stay fit I think he can be much better than he was this year.
Can Tuck improve any more???

Tuck
Delidio
Brown
Richo(depending on his headspace)
Maybes
Pettifer - dont laff. - I think he can step up again this year.
Kane Johnson
Tambling.
Simmonds ? ?

Hard question - Some players that are expected to do well come the crunch dont measure up and then you get your surprise packages - ala tivs 2001.
Have to pretty much concur with oxo cubes - But really only when we get there the real story will be told. Simmonds hmmmmm
-
I think Brown is already one, if his not he will be.
As for the kids, its hard to say really, i'll go with the obvious and say Lids though!
-
Apart from the obvious Lids, Bling etc. I think Chris Newman's ready to step up to a more responsible role and make a bigger impact.
Brent Hartigan is another who I expect to really come on this season. I'll also throw in Jay Schultz. He's got the tools and showed promise in a couple of matches late in the season. If he can get his application right Jay could end up becoming our biggest big game player.

Deledio and Brown
They are the only two that have kick as.s transcendence in them
Can see the likes of Tambling having dominant quarters here and there.

I agree on Pettifer Ox. He's no Brown but he did well after Browny went down. If Browny can get back to near his pre-broken leg form alongside Richo and a resting Simmonds up forward then Pettifer will have only the fourth best defender on him and could cause some serious damage in front of goal :thumbsup.
Krakouer is another one on his day who can cut loose with a bag of goals but unfortunately those types of cameos are all too rare from him as yet.
-
Obviously Brown and throw in Deledio. Tambling will be a game breaker and Krakrouer I think can turn a game as a small crumbing forward
As for others - you can only hope that our first pick in this season draft will be as well :thumbsup
I think Schulz may also qualify, in that I reckon if his first postion is CHB (and that's the plan again for 2006) at a pinch you can throw him forward and he can take a big grab and kick a few goals - could turn a game ifhe becomes that sort of player

Agree with you WP - I think he showed that in his few senior games this year, crashed the pack and managed to dish off a handball in the dying minutes and was very instrumental in the end result.
