Grimes hopes to become Tigers leader
Herald-Sun
15 December 2015
THE working year might be winding down for most, but Richmond defender Dylan Grimes says the Tigers know they’ll have their work cut out for them in Palm Cove this week.
The team travelled to Queensland on Sunday and got stuck straight into training in sticky conditions, with Grimes saying getting the side — particularly younger players — comfortable is a priority.
He might be just 24 years old, but Grimes is hopeful that the camp can provide him with an opportunity to step up as a leader in 2016.
“Personally, it’s a good opportunity for me to work on my leadership skills, being surrounded with a lot of young guys this year,” he told the club website.
“(There’s) a lot of new faces in the backline as well.
“I’m really looking to have some fun and get stuck into camp.”
Grimes says coach Damien Hardwick’s penchant for competition is well-known, with the group excited at the prospect of having to fight for their spot.
“There’s a lot of competition for spots this year, given that we’ve brought some really good talent into the club and some good players from other clubs as well,” he said.
“This is the first opportunity to pin the ears back and really lock horns and fight for that position.
“Everyone’s fighting for a spot for Round 1, and there’s certainly a few up for grabs. It’s going to be really exciting to see what some of the young guys can produce.”

Put him into the leadership group. It's currently stuffed anyways, full of mice in finals. Got to try something different and the boy leads by example.

In a side generally containing Houli. Chappy. Grigg you conclude it's Dylan that's soft
Remarkable stuff clawski

Grimes soft?
He's got bigger balls than most in the team.
Shame that blokes like him and Cotchin don't have the physique that Houli and Chaplin do...

Grimes Japanese fantastical ninja 50/50 was symptomaticof his general toughness and guts

Geez Claw,
I will defend most things from my beloved Tasmania
I will defend everyone's right to an opinion no matter how flawed
but you have clearly lost the plot & are presently depriving some village of its idiot

Thats all good Taz the proof is in the pudding. Besides most of the sheep on here already think im the village idiot what does it matter. I dont post to be everyones friend.
Okay so you have ripped into me tell me why my thinking is flawed. I have seen numerous occasions where Grimes has been as soft as they come. I have also seen him do some brave things.
Im not the one with blinkers on here i comment on what i have seen, and yes i have seen enough instances of Grimes to be able to say in some ways he is very soft.
Its a bit like B Ellis he will run with the flight of the ball and show heaps of courage in taking the mark, yet so often when the ball is on the ground and he has had time to look he pulls up.He will cost us an important game one day.
Any way on this site i am no longer giving reasons why i say things im just here to comment on what ive seen and what people say.. People can slash their wrists for all it matters.I m gunna sit back and wait for others to give opinions and then pick holes in what they say.It is about time the shoe was on the other foot.
-
no longer giving reasons why you say things? :lol when did that ever happen? The only change now is an admission, which as you have acknowledged, is the first step to recovery :clapping

Oh Alison in wonder land. Obsession delusion its all the same thing. Let go mate and seek some help.
-
actually obsession and delusion are two completely different things. they may go hand in hand at times, but they are two different things
a bit like Narcissism and Psychological Projection.
-
Grimes is not soft :wallywink but he does need to work on the offensive side of his game.
He's an old fashioned defender and in the modern game as a 3rd tall back that aint a good thing.
He and Batchelor are ok but i think we need to do better as both have flaws.
Chaplin still a better option than both in the 3rd tall back role because of his rounded game but Chappy is nearly done...
