The Richmond Football Club is pleased to announce a three-year partnership with the Victorian Responsible Gambling Foundation.
As part of the agreement, the Club has signed the Responsible Gambling Charter, committing it’s support to protect young people from the risks of gambling.
The foundation helps people affected by problem gambling, as well as their families and friends, and fosters a greater understanding and awareness of the concept of responsible gambling in the wider community
Richmond CEO, Brendon Gale said the new partnership is important, given the popularity of betting markets in AFL and sport.
“Through our new partnership with the Victorian Responsible Gambling Foundation, we’re able to take a lead in helping the community - young people in particular need to understand the devastating risks associated with gambling,” Gale said.
“To join six other AFL Clubs in signing the Responsible Gambling Charter is a strong stance by the AFL community, and we look forward to supporting the Foundation’s initiatives over the next three years at least,” he said.
Victorian Responsible Gambling Foundation chief executive Serge Sardo says seven Victorian clubs have now signed the responsible gambling charter which precludes clubs from having sports betting sponsors.
"Richmond now joins the majority of Victorian AFL clubs who will spread the word about responsible gambling to their fans,” he said.

This is having our cake and eating it too, is it not?

Woah, we're halfway there...
-
Wow - this is counter intuitive. We generate revenue from Pokies but also support gambling addiction services. Makes no sense.

As long as they're for-profit gambling addiction services we can make money off both ends. Truly enterprising. :p
