Shaun Griggs thumb,?
Surely its his finger, the one he needs to extract it
-
Edwards listed with a shoulder as well as hand? Wonder if he'd have missed this week even without the hand surgery.

Never pay any attention to the HUN's injury list. It is always a week behind
Clubs are required to lodge their injury list updates with the AFL who release to the media tomorrow

What's holding him back from playing in the VFL? Does he do all skills and contact work?

Yarra been 5-8 away for weeks now. Is his injury healing?
I would ignore the time line given by the club. Best to look at what he is doing on the track. He had his surgery a couple of weeks ago. After that he was on crutches. Then he progressed to the special stepping machine at the club. Now he is slowly jogging apparently. So I would think he is progressing. I think the first estimate was way off. I thought it was an 8 to 10 week lay off when I heard about the operation.

surely the club has some peptides to speed up recovery? Have we even got a sport scientist?

Astbury test?

Astbury test?
Astbury was just on Ch7 news, walking with no limp
Said likely to play this week
Looks like it was only a rolled ankle

Astbury's form warrants him to be dropped anyway

Todd Elton who has achieved less in a lesser comp.
-
I reckon he's been OK.
Yeah so do I.
-
Same, Astburys been ok and worth persevering with, just needs to work on not losing his opponent so easily in traffic
Wtf with Yarran? Club can go and get stuffed. Just give us the truth and stop keeping us hanging. I hate hoping that Lids may have been back by rnd 2, that Yaz may be back by rnd 6. Just tell us as it is and we resign ourselves to the fact and move on. I get more peeed at the angst of hoping they may be right bc some wanker at the club has said he could've played this week, he'll be right for next week

Lol Elton is the only other option on the list. If Astbury did not come up who was going to take his place.Talls at Richmond what talls.
Only at Richmond would you go into a season with the kpds they have and expect to make top 4. Same is true for the tall forwards.
Lmfao they tried to trade Astbury out last year and you seriously have to ask yourself would they even have tried to take a kid to take his spot on the list. hows that for list management.

Good point. If he was injured I'd still have played Todd. The guy has stagnated in the twos. Saw him play some good games last year in the twos when our senior defence was good and could not break in. When he did get a chance Derwood (sorry Dio) played him on the best forward at the time in Cloke who was in form then. Why not bring him in and play him on the third tall as a starter? This years form has not warranted a call up but he has banked points IMHO from last year where he wasn't rewarded.
However if Astbury comes up, he stays in the magoos.

Yer I agree about the club feeding us sh!7 about our injured players. I think that is the least they could do with what we all put up with and the money we tip in. We are not asking for game plans or secrets about the opposition, we just want to know when we can expect to see our players back.
You cannot tell me the club doctors didn't know that Yaz and Lids wouldn't be playing by now. And if they didn't then we should get better people.
Do they think by saying "he should be right next week" it sells more memberships? Do they think it confuses the opposition? What?
Stop treating us like DHeads and show some class.
-
Agree BT
-
I said this last week. Yarran's injury and subsequent surgery was never a 6 week injury. You need 6 weeks for the tissues to heal properly and you need another 4 weeks to get your fitness up. Ten was a better estimate. The foot heels slowly especially if you weight bare on the surgical site early.

Yarran coming along nicely! :banghead
-
Have a feeling when he does finally debut (if he does) that it might be another Ben Cousins moment, sprinting down the wing only to do a hammie. That's the sort of season we are having.
-
Yarran coming along nicely! :banghead
Said it before will say it again
Pay no attention to the HUN's weekly injury
Regarding Yarran, he is running and expects to be back in the VFL in about 4-5 weeks (that was the word from last weeks sponsors dinner).

I was taking my information from the club injury list WP - the post above the HUN one. :shh
Anyway, I've heard he is working his behind off trying to get fit. He has payed a high price for letting himself go in the preseason. Wouldn't it be nice to have him running around right now...

Love how they are claiming Cotchin will play. We all know he won't but they will tell us he will so the members turn up only to disappointed again when he is a late withdrawel. This club has little respect for the supporter base. The same reason they signed Hardwick early so the supporter pressure had no affect.. If they continue to treat the loyal fans this way with no respect then they will turn on the club. At this point in time the fans deserve pure honesty and not spin.

hopefully Drummond is not far from playing VFL.

Want to hear what's going on with yarren. His time frame has been completed as far as the supporters would know given the club always misinforms us.

How true
It's like Houli
He tells people he is out for 6 weeks
But club say TBC lol
-
Houli out for 6 weeks
I know this sounds horrible but this is good news for us. He is no good. And DH is too close to see it. His only asset, his kicking, has been terrible this year. Also he has been caught out one on one to many times this year which isn't good for him or us. He simply isn't good enough to be a defender at AFL level IMO.

McIntosh suffered a syndesmosis sprain to his right ankle (last) Thursday (at training) and is facing eight-to-10 weeks on the sidelines.
The 22-year-old will be in a moon boot for the next three weeks and has been placed on the long-term injury list, with rookie Jayden Short remaining on the senior list.

I somewhat disagree. Most (if not all) looked like they had the potential to be superior players but IMO he came across as one of the most equipped to at least make the level.

Lennon now available to be overlooked by Halfstep again.....
Will play back pocket in the VFL to learn how to defend... :shh
-
Don't need blokes with good foot skills - even though Halfstep's gameplan of uncontested keepings off makes them essential....

How long has Lennons lay off been. ?
Has he even had a hit out.?
Personally i would really like to see the club Promote Callum Moore and throw him in the deep end.Would also be looking to give Chol games so maybe we can rotate Moore and Chol in and out of the team.
Griffiths FF. Riewoldt CHF, Moore third tall.
Ideally when Lennon has a few hit outs would love to see us set up in the following way
FF: Butler - Griffiths - C Moore/Chol
HF:Lennon - Riewoldt - Rioli.

That's two posts in a row that I completely agree with! :clapping

- You have to fit deledio Cotchin Edwards martin vlastuin on the ground too ... Where is Lloyd going to fit?
- Do you want to have another cry about jayden short in the backline?
- Quite frankly McBean is getting a very rough go if c moore. Chol (both who I like a lot ) are ahead Unless claws got him CHB / ruck :shh

Hmm how do we fit deledio, cotchin, edwards, martin and Vlastuin on the ground along with the blokes i mentioned.
FB: Grimes - Astbury - Conca
HB: Deledio - Rance - Vlastuin
C: Menadue - Martin - Edwards
R: Hampson - Cotchin - Miles.
HF: Rioli - Riewoldt - Lennon
FF: Moore - Griffiths - Butler
Int: Pick 4 players.
Every player mentioned is available.
Too late to play McBean in defense and at no stage have i thought him a potential #1 ruckman. Common sense says if McBean is going dont pick him regardless of how well he plays in the ressies.
Put the games into C Moore and Chol instead. :shh

4 interchange players for ya Claw -

Lol.
Just look at my sig claw. I'm always wanting them to try our youth because some of our more senior players never deliver when it counts.

4 interchange players for ya Claw -
Lloyd, Grigg, C.Ellis, Short ...
If you had trelor / danger / Prestia for grigg and a half decent ruckman for Hampson (was there a stage you though Hampson had potential to be number ruckman claw?) starts to look half decent side
The only glaring question mark is astbury. Griffiths body not falling apart and continuing his upward curve would help too
C moore is the one needed to come good if we are not gettin Hurley. Broad would be a nice bonus
I'm not convinced chol. Maric. Vickery. McBean. Would be any worse on the ruck than hamspud.

Oh, my mistake! I meant to name Gandalf, Hulk, Superman & Captain Marvellous on the bench, since we're now recruiting from Fantasyland! *Hint - Current players ... you know, we're picking a Richmond FC team from the players on our team list, like ... players who actually play for us ... ::)

Indeed - I was lamenting last seasons trade period and somewhat claiming with a few 'tweaks' and less crap list managment things can turn around fast. The side potentially looking quite competitive with a few key addiditions or if some of the fringe youngsters step up
Trying to continue claws theme which i largely agree with:

Did not want Hampson under any circumstances.Dont know how many times i pointed out his 7 year history at carlton and what he did poorly.
In fairness to him i think he has been servicable this year but like most still think we need to get a more rounded ruckman.
I would keep him as a back up ruckman until we actually grow our ruck stocks. Atm he is easily the best ruckman we have, in fact at times his ruckwork by itself has been excellent.

may as well call it a year for kamdyn, Houli and Ellis. Would rather Kamdyn and Ellis be cherry ripe for preseason ankles and groins can be tricky. As for Houli, 3 weeks then he'll need a couple of weeks in the vfl, may as well let him get right for preseason and play the kids in his stead

Bad news for finals push
-
Richmond Physical Performance Manager, Peter Burge, says Richmond defender Bachar Houli will make his playing return from a wrist injury this weekend.
Houli, who has not played since Richmond's loss to Hawthorn in Round 7, will look to return via the VFL in their match against Box Hill at Punt Road Oval on Sunday.
“Bachar had another scan on his wrist (on Monday) which has enabled him to now participate in full contact skills,” Burge said.
“He’s been doing non-contact skills now for four weeks so we’ll probably play him through the VFL this week in limited game time, around 70 minutes, given he’s missed nearly 11 weeks and next week is a six-day break.
“We want him to pull up well from the game and from training this week and not be too sore, so all those things we’ve got to consider.”
In other news, Burge was hopeful Kamydn McIntosh would line-up before the season’s end, while youngster Corey Ellis is two to three weeks away from returning from a groin injury.
