Richmond examining potential hand injury to midfielder Shane Edwards

RICHMOND is examining a potential hand injury to talented midfielder Shane Edwards.
The nature of the injury is yet to be confirmed, though there is speculation it could put him in doubt for Friday night’s Round 2 blockbuster with Collingwood.
Edwards carried a shoulder injury into Thursday’s season opening clash against Carlton, which was sustained in the club’s final NAB Challenge encounter.
He is believed to have subsequently injured his hand in Thursday’s match, where he amassed 12 disposals and kicked one goal in a narrow nine-point victory.
It represents more bad news on the injury front for the Tigers, who are likely to again be without Brett Deledio for next week’s crucial clash with the Pies.
Deledio has a quad injury, with the club not expected to risk the veteran until he fully proves his fitness.
Reece Conca will miss the first 8-10 weeks of the season with a hamstring injury, while Ivan Maric (back), Shaun Grigg (thumb) and Chris Yarran (foot) also missed Round 1.

Tigers injury woes grow: Midfielder fractures hand
AFL.com.au
March 26, 2016
RICHMOND'S injury woes have continued, with Shane Edwards likely to miss next Friday's match against Collingwood after having surgery on a fractured hand.
Brett Deledio will join him on the sidelines, with coach Damien Hardwick saying he is unlikely to get over the quadriceps injury that kept him out of the season opener against Carlton.
"[Edwards] had surgery yesterday. He's probably doubtful for this week," Tigers coach Damien Hardwick told ABC radio on Saturday.
"At worst he will be out for one week."
Last year, the Tigers took a chance with Deledio and played him in round one against Carlton, but the 28-year-old missed the next four weeks with a calf injury.
Hardwick is cautious of not letting that happen again.
"There is the slight risk that if you push the envelope that he misses two or three more," Hardwick said.
"We'll probably be pretty conservative on that one [given] he's an important player for us."
Edwards played against Carlton in round one but had looked unlikely to play after leaving Richmond's final pre-season game against Port Adelaide in a sling.
However, he escaped with severe bruising and nerve swelling.
Chris Yarran, Reece Conca, Shaun Grigg and Nathan Drummond are also on the injury list.

Tigers lose two guns for Pies clash
Herald-Sun
March 26, 2016
RICHMOND has been hit by more bad injury news with Shane Edwards and Brett Deledio both ruled out of Friday night’s blockbuster against Collingwood.
Edwards had surgery on Friday to repair a hand fracture he suffered late in the Tigers’ win against Carlton.
The Tigers said Edwards, who was cleared to play after suffering a shoulder injury in the NAB Challenge, broke the fourth metacarpal bone in his right hand.
The club did not reveal how long Edwards will be sidelined, but ruled him out for Friday night’s clash against Collingwood.
Coach Damien Hardwick told ABC radio Edwards would likely only miss one week, and added midfielder Brett Deledio won’t return from a quad injury against the Pies.

I thought his username was originally Santa claws. Then he shortened it to the claw for this site.
Haven't seen him admit his name is Claude.....
Maybe I don't know him as intimately as you. ;D
