What a disgrace going forward.
-
Midfield coach wants to hang his head too
-
And the backline was poo too.
-
Not to mention the head coach
-
And the backline was poo too.
yes need to really at that. We had a formidable backline last year - what's happened?
-
Teams seem to easily be able to kick the ball over the back of our defence and have 3 blokes running into an open goal.
-
The forward line hasnt been right for a long time, we consistently have high inside 50 stats but for little result.
Clearly whatever strategies we do have in place just arent working. Seems to me not just in the forward line but alot of players just dont know where they should be, players on different wavelengths to each other.
-
It's jobs for mates at punt road.
Our forwards should strive to be the best tacklers in the team but it's STILL the easiest forward line to run out of.
Richmond FC, ruining careers since 1983. :clapping

once the overlap is created, the back men are stuffed.they must run forward to pressure the ball carrier, which allows an easy over the top. combine that with the opposition mids being able to run forward without accountability and it creates a perfect storm to make the back men look bad. to a large degree, the willingness of the mids to work both ways makes or breaks the back men. it has always been their lot, and always will be

I thought the sideline was ordinary too

Think about that line you wrote.
Why blame & sack the forward coach when the forwards are the ones making many energy wasted leads while the backline & midfielders are wasting energy playing backwards / sideways football which is turned over the forwards don't get a chance. They would be getting anxiety thinking they got alot more goals to kick because of team mate turnover for goals against. When they do get the ball they too are fatigued from wasting leads & going up ground to help. That's alot of ground to cover for a full game.
l would be looking at both the backline & midfield coach & the head coach who is applying the game plan.
l have said for many years stats are meaningless to winning a game of football. If a coach prides himself on the stats board, He may as well quit today. Looking at stats if you overuse the football & kick it sideways proves fruitless. Watch the replay as l watched half of the game live & left at half time wondering. l seen a play of 8 possessions where the ball went across the ground & back again & nothing was gained forward. All they did was waste energy of every team mate on the ground for what. 2 weeks in a row l have seen the Tigers hold possession of the ball on the wing then go backwards to our goal square. Both times they turned it over for a goal. The opposition must have the best laugh on the plane to & from Melbourne thinking we don't have to work hard this week. We playing the Tigers :snidegrin Just flood the midfield & they will take it into our forward line then we will grab them & kick a goal :snidegrin How freakin dumb does that sound. Flood back then the forwards make a fast break & our back line is so pushed up that a 40 metre sprint to get back won't even get you back to within 30 metres of goal while your opponent is running in kicking a goal & the 1st person to touch him is 2 of his team mates who were also on the attacking side of our defenders. Poor Rance is so fatigued the lad near collapsed. WTF is that all about. you going to axe the forward coach for that.
My instructions would be for the midfield to kick it long to our big forawrds. Riewoldt 197cm Maric 200cm Hampson 201cm Vickery 200cm Griffiths 200cm when they go down there. Thats alot of height. Franklin, Roughhead, Hale, were doing it & we beat them If you can't do that get off the ground & go get dressed cause you be playing 2nds next week.
Watch the replay & tell me how many times we do this. l reckon if a coach has a board showing his players stats during the game that l would beat his team every time on basic football knowledge. Who the hell needs a plan his wasting his time at breaks telling his players about stats, While l'm telling my players, "You doing great lads. The score is on the board while they are wasting themselves & will be tired in the last quarter. Just go out there hit them hard & get it too the forwards as quick so they can. They will kick the goals. The Richmond players will take it back to the last line of defence for you. Goals win games. Fatigue stops players from playing 4 quarters & makes them weak when it comes to 1 on 1 or pushing back to protect the goal.
darn you know what. Just sack the forward coach it's his fault. :snidegrin
-
Have you ever seen a team so good at passing the ball by foot in the forward 50 mostly either always to the opposition players advantage or directly onto their chest?
Amazing really. :clapping
And Dumma said statistically, we are the best kicks in the competition. :gotigers

Aside from missing set shots, I think our forward line actually looks quite dangrous at the moment.. Problem is our slow ball movement means they never get any space and the service they receive from the midfield is generally awful.
-
Who's the backward coach ???
-
But more importantly, who's the sideways coach?

Yes the culprit must be found & exterminated ;D
