2016 marks the 6th time Richmond will wear an Indigenous themed and developed Guernsey for the Dreamtime at the ‘G game.
The 2016 version of the Guernsey is unique in that it is based on our yellow clash Guernsey – the first time our Dreamtime Guernsey has been predominantly yellow in colour.

This will be a hard one to lose.
Look for a few soft injuries, a few of our better players to have a bad game, and a few new faces in the team.
However even with these subtle tactics Essendon will be hungry to lose this game as well.
-
we've already lost one crip fight, so who knows?

Chol should get a game :clapping

Soooo right. Start retiring blokes we know are duds and give Chol/Moore a taste...But wait, you do realise that we are diverging from the script.....you know ...the part where we couldn't take a re-build ::)

Match preview: Essendon v Richmond
AFL.com.au
23 May, 2016
SUMMARY
Essendon will take on a Richmond side that has recaptured its confidence after critical back-to-back wins in the last two weeks. The Tigers followed their after-the-siren win over the Sydney Swans in round eight with a comprehensive victory over Fremantle in Perth last weekend. With skipper Trent Cotchin back at the helm and in good form, Damien Hardwick's side looks more settled than it did during its six-game losing streak from round two to seven. The Bombers continue to struggle to score and fell away after half-time last week against St Kilda to drop their seventh game in a row. John Worsfold's team is finding it hard to string together four competitive quarters with a makeshift line-up this year, which leaves it exposed against the opposition most weeks.
WHERE AND WHEN: MCG, Saturday, May 28, 7.25pm AEST
LAST FIVE TIMES
R22, 2015, Richmond 10.14 (74) d Essendon 7.5 (47) at the MCG
R9, 2015, Richmond 10.12 (72) d Essendon 8.11 (59) at the MCG
R20, 2014, Richmond 14.11 (95) d Essendon 11.11 (77) at the MCG
R11, 2014, Essendon 15.14 (104) d Richmond 7.12 (54) at the MCG
R23, 2013, Richmond 15.14 (104) d Essendon 9.11 (65) at the MCG
THE SIX POINTS
1. The Bombers will need to lift their scoring if they're to beat the Tigers this week. Essendon is ranked last for points scored this season, averaging only 60 points a game.
2. This week will be the 198th meeting between the two clubs. Essendon has won 104 games to Richmond's 89, with four draws. Since 2012 it's five wins to three to the Tigers' way.
3. The annual Dreamtime at the 'G was first played in 2006, with the 10 meetings split mostly in Essendon's favour. The Bombers have won six of the contests, and three of the last four.
4. The Bombers have proved to be a high handballing side this year, ranking second in the competition (averaging 191 a game). The Tigers play in a contrasting style, averaging 159 handballs a game (ranking 15th).
5. Richmond captain Trent Cotchin returned to the Tigers' line-up last week in brilliant touch, gathering a career-high 39 disposals (including 18 contested possessions). He had missed the previous two weeks with a fractured cheekbone.
6. Zach Merrett's ascent as a midfielder has been reflected in the Schick Official AFL Player Ratings. The Essendon youngster has jumped to No.122 on the overall list after starting the year ranked 151.
IT'S A BIG WEEK FOR … Michael Hartley. The Bombers defender has impressed in his first year at the club and will face another big challenge in the backline this year faced against Jack Riewoldt.
PREDICTION: Richmond by 36 points

Tiger Ellis wary of Essendon in Dreamtime clash
AFL.com.au
23 May 2016
BRANDON Ellis can't wait for Dreamtime at the 'G, but the Richmond midfielder/defender knows Essendon looms as a potential banana peel for his resurgent Tigers.
The annual blockbuster recognises the indigenous contribution to Australian football and always draws a massive crowd.
And Saturday night's clash against the struggling Bombers and their patched up team comes at a critical point in the Tigers' season.
At 1-6 after seven rounds, a fourth-straight finals appearance appeared a long way off at Punt Road, but back-to-back victories have breathed new life into Richmond's season.
Speaking after his side's 38-point win over Fremantle at Domain Stadium on Saturday night, Ellis said the Tigers would need to keep a lid on their form reversal.
"Essendon have played some pretty good footy this year, they took it up to North last week in the second half, so they're going pretty well and we can't take them lightly," he said.
"We'll have our best foot forward next week."
Ellis had 18 disposals in the victory over the Dockers as Richmond won the contested possessions (155-146) and clearances (42-36) on a stormy Perth night.
The on-baller was pleased with the way his side negotiated the awful conditions.
"It was a tough slog. It was that windy and that slippery, and it kept raining and then it would dry up and then it would rain again," Ellis said.
"We just had to play wet-weather footy, and credit to the boys they put in a pretty good four-quarter effort.
"I thought our mids stepped up and really dominated and I think we won the contested ball and the tackle (counts), which is what we needed to do to get over the line."

Essendon wants to treat tonight like a Grand Final :wallywink.

------------------------------------------------
It also sounds like it's going to be wet weather footy again tonight.
Melbourne area
Partly cloudy. High (70%) chance of showers, most likely in the morning and afternoon. Light winds becoming southwesterly 25 to 35 km/h in the morning then tending westerly 15 to 25 km/h in the evening.
Maximum of 15 degrees.

really pumped for this one. We are really starting to show something now that it counts.

:sleep
Bit of a no win situation really, anything less that an 80 point win is a failure/loss. Which, of course, wont happen. Essendon will lift massively, we'll choke and they'll get the 4 points a la rd 2. Essendon by a (free) kick.
-
For those interstater site members, its currently peeing down and freezing (11 degrees) in Melbourne. More of the same expected tonight.

Pretty sure rain (not that it's raining where I am atm) and wind is meant to die down, but still don't expect much.

Better win this or boy, oh boy, oh boy, oh boy,...and Vickery will get an even bigger BOY, OH BOY, OH BOY, OH BOY.... :snidegrin
-
A complete change from this morning and around midday when it was bucketing down. It's been a fairly sunny late afternoon.
Edit: It's raining again (sunshower)
-
So IF we win this game and some of the lesser players actually have a good game will the RCGG be out in force?? Players like.... well you know... :snidegrin
Will they think we are only an inch away from the grail?? Will they think the depth we have at the club is immeasurable?? Will they be fooled again???

I am expecting us to be flat and to run of legs late in the game

-
We need to score 100+pts, really need to improve our potency inside 50 and this is the game to do it. If we cant get a decent score against the bummers then we need to really look at our forward structures and maybe change things up. Obviously kicking between the two big white sticks would be a good starting point.
-
The drugs cheats are really, really bad
-
Vickery trampoline hands again. Mopped up by essendon, fantasia goals
-
Your goal Morris
-
Great conditions to make the very average smaller players look good.
-
I reckon we are playing disrespectful footy.
-
Geez Daniher is a real plodder
-
Ive said this so many times in the past - we are a stuffing dumb footy side. The amount of times we give away stupid freekicks when we have a 2 on 1 is astounding. just astounding.

Are you getting paid to?
Pathetic qtr Richmond...
-
Geez, if playing the Roos we would be 10 goals down. Our lack of execution is terrible at times. Even on a turnover we cant string decent posessions together. We as usual against weaker sides have clocked off. No killer instinct and the usual laziness and clumsiness creeping in. Deserve a spray at halftime for that lack of effort.
-
Lambert lacks polish

Agreed. JR missing that shot was really poor. Think we just wanna cruse here.

Why does it say Matt Dea is #7 but he's wearing 49 and some other guy is 7?
-
Can anyone confirm if the RFC came out onto the ground after the third qtr???
-
We aint playin no finals this year. Putrid Richmond...
-
We make Essendon look good :banghead
-
Thank god for that goal.
-
I was so expecting this pea heart last quarter and yet again the guys havent let me down, so typical Richmond.
-
Kick the damn ball Ellis :banghead :banghead
-
Taylor Hunt has kept Zarharakas to 9 possessions in the second half since being moved onto him.... :clapping
-
Did what we had to only just, switched off on a number of occasions. Will get smashed by the Roos next week if we play like that, really need to keep attacking when in front, feel the Richmond way is to protect a lead and we simply dont have thw talent to execute it.
-
Drug cheats are Shyte
The do a number of the basics badly
-
Morris was v good tonight. He's a whipping boy but hes been good since he was moved to the backline - his last 4 weeks have been solid.. tonight was nigh on the best game hes played since season 1, took several intercept marks and cant recall him giving away any unforced error freekicks or clangers which is probably a first.
-
Yep
Worth retaining as a depth player
-
Thought Astbury played his best game for us this year. Still a little slow to move the ball along but marked very well.
-
I have come to the realisation tonight that Essendon's version of the grog squad have become the most average bunch of supporters in the league. They are offensive and completely out of line to the point they need to be reported to the AFL.
They need to be investigated for their offensive songs and chants.
-
LMAO at that effort vs how happy they were after.
Hahaha
-
Happy Gilmour is back again.

Agree to all the above.
We tried to play unaccountable bruise free footy using the minimum required 'effort' to get the win. If it was a once in a blue moon slack-off you'd ignore it. However, it's a costly recurring theme year after year for us and reflects our inability to stay mentally focused and put 4 quarters of AFL standard footy together on a regular basis. Even last year when we won 15 games, we were lucky to have 2-3 four quarter efforts. It's not good enough. Coming out of the 3/4 time huddle switched off for the last quarter was no different to how we came out after halftime in the Elimination Final and froze in the 3rd quarter which cost us the final. The same can be said about allowing the Bombers the last two goals of the 2nd quarter through our own stupidity. Our laziness and mental frailties on display once again :help.
We'll take the 4 points but that's all we'll get out of the game. If we get flogged next week then it'll show this win to be nothing but fool's gold. Only a win next week against a top side can make-up for a such an undisciplined, lazy and fundamentally sub-standard performance last night.
-
played very flat compared to last two weeks. despite not having the intensity of the last two games, ......essendon are so crap........
no run at all in the last q.
were actually smart enough to just control the ball after essendons run of goals, and thus the tempo and to just see out the game
-
We won
Thats about it really.
And someone I think it was tony montana said we are a dumb footy team and have some really dumb footballers. Greatest understatement ever.
We are diabolically (is that a word?) Dumb
It is simple mind numbing :banghead
-
Yeah I am shaking my head in disbelief that people could support their team.
How about those idiots at the club start supporting the people and performing when it counts.
Claw and MT are right. A bunch of mentally fragile athletes who turn it on when they feel like it or when no ones watching e.g next Friday night
-

Just like I support a club at a local level despite them not having a great win/loss ratio, I support Richmond. I could not imagine not supporting Richmond. They make mistakes, they lose, they annoy me. However, I will always support clubs at different levels because I love footy. I just can't turn it off and walk away.
-
You can only play what is in front of on the day and we did that comfortably
For those who wallow in misery please do so quietly FFS as its boring

I have come to the realisation tonight that Essendon's version of the grog squad have become the most average bunch of supporters in the league. They are offensive and completely out of line to the point they need to be reported to the AFL.
They need to be investigated for their offensive songs and chants.
The little guy on wheels language towards female Ricmond supporters was just unbelievable. He should be banned! They are investigating a racism issue with a fan. What I witnessed was much much worse. I understand that some people are dealt a bad hand in life but in this case he is out of line. He should not be allowed to drink that much.
The Richmond Grog squad has been critisized in the past for their chants. The chants coming from that Essendon group were worse then anything I have ever heard at the football. before.

I am still shaking my head. How the hell did we not win by 100 plus poinyts against a vfl side. here they are still talking finals nand making all sorts of excuses for the shocking run of form desperately needing wins and just as importantly percentage with no reason at all not to be ruthless and what do we get. Yep a win but how insipid a win.
It is funny praising up playersw who do well against hacks just like themselves.

No team has beaten Essendon by 100 points this year .....so why was last week such an epic failure ?
Are North and Geelong crap because they only beat them by 14 and 30 points respectively. What about the blues who only won by 15.
Essendons average losing margin in 2016 in 46 points.

When others expectations don't match the results you call them delusional ... Ironic eh? :lol

Ah so only we have to put them to the sword. If other teams go to sleep that's understandable
