Jack Riewoldt said morale is still high at the club, with mental wellbeing a focus during the “hole”.
“You try and change a lot of things. You tinker with personnel - that’s the immediate on that you try and get right,” he said on SEN.
“You also look at some trends ... on field. The off-field stuff is maintaining that mental well-being. It can be a dark place sometimes when things aren’t going the way you want them to, but you want to keep the guys mentally refreshed.”
Riewoldt said it wasn’t just the fans who were expecting for the side that has made three consecutive finals series to move up a level this season, and hopes things can start to turn starting on Saturday.
“At the moment, all our focus is onto our next victory,” he said.
“We’re in a fairly large hole at the moment - we’ve lost six games in a row and we’ve lost games we felt we should have won.
“Not only was the expectation (to do better this season) with the fans, but internally as well - we expected to perform better than we are and we’re not performing the way we feel that we can.
“All our focus is driven to that next victory. Hopefully it’s against a pretty good side in Sydney on Saturday night at the ‘G.
