KB lashes ‘pathetic’ Tigers
Lauren Wood
Herald Sun
31 July 2016
RICHMOND great Kevin Bartlett has labelled his old club’s effort “pathetic” after the Giants belted the Tigers at Manuka Oval on Saturday.
Bartlett, in Canberra commentating, was scathing in his criticism of the Tigers after the Giants booted 17.9 (111) to 3.5 (23) to romp to a huge win.
It was the Tigers’ lowest score since Round 16, 1961 — 55 years ago — when they kicked just 0.8 against St Kilda.
But it was at halftime, when under clear blue skies the Tigers trailed 11.5 (71) to just 1.2 (8), that ‘KB’ let the Tigers have it.
The Tigers’ disappointing display comes after the Tigers’ future was put back on the agenda by Brisbane Lions legend Jonathon Brown, who backed coach Damien Hardwick’s credentials. However ex-Collingwood skipper Tony Shaw declared the club’s list needed a rebuild.
Bartlett said the side showed “no effort whatsoever” in delivering a one-goal first half — and it wasn’t not good enough.
“No effort from the Tigers whatsoever,” Bartlett said on SEN.
“At the moment, Richmond players in that first quarter were just jogging along. There was no urgency in their game whatsoever. Just not having a crack.
“It’d be disastrous for the club (if it continues for the rest of the game). It’s been a low ebb because it’s not going to play finals this year and it’s been so disappointing.
“If you come here today and put in an insipid performance … it puts everyone under pressure. The board … the coach … the players. Who do you keep? Who do you let go?”
Bartlett said the Tigers had a great opportunity “to shape the eight” — and could have blown it.
“It is just so disappointing if you are a Tigers supporter to see the side fall away as it has fallen away today,” he said.
“We saw it last week against Hawthorn in that last quarter. I don’t think anyone thought they would continue that form on into the first quarter against the Giants.
“In fact, it was pathetic. It was absolutely pathetic. It’d be fascinating to see what takes place at half-time.
“Damien (Hardwick) gets a chance to really shake them up and just see what some of these players are made of.
“There’s around about 16 uncontracted players. You wouldn’t want to be contracting too many today after this performance. It’s got enormous ramifications, this second half for the Tigers.
“This is one of the worst we’ve seen from the Tigers in a long, long time,” Bartlett said.
Both teams booted 2.2 in the third term, with GWS leading by 63 points at the final break.
But the procession continued in the final term as GWS stormed away to build a percentage-boosting win.
After the match, it appeared KB had cooled down a little.
“Slight hiccup today against the Giants. I think mathematically tigers still a chance for finals a lot has to go right from this point on,” he tweeted.

The only thing I want to hear from Bartletts mouth is a long overdue apology to Dusty

God dammit, we missed a golden opportunity to shape the 8 yesterday!!
-
As president of the sacked coaches league he did not criticize Hardwick once or his pathetic game plan.

Just to make it clear i ma not defending Hardwick he's lost me
But alot of what i saw or didnt see yesterday wasnt solely coaching it was the player related. The lack of effort, work rate, refusing to run, chase and application was the players. They deserve to cop their whack as well.
On that KB is correct they were pathetic

Incorrect. We shaped it by giving GWS a percentage boost! :snidegrin

I think the players are to blame.
They have lost faith in Hardwick and his horrible game plan!
Players have lost faith in the difficult, confusing game plan and clearly don't care as a collective.
Hardwick has always been the problem.
Sack Hardwick!

How do players respond to a coach they don't believe in anymore?
The players could rally together, confront the coach and ask him to leave.....
Or they can just go through the motions & hope a severe thrashing will wake up the board to the mistake they made.
Either way the players are letting everyone know that they have no faith in him or his "blueprint to success".

Chris Newman situation happening all over again ???

Too see Cotchin throwing punches behind play when you are 14 goals down aint leadership

But you can't be throwing cheap shots win your getting pumped for 14 goals
No wonder we drop away quick in games
No leadership

He's put his head over it year after year after year winning the hard ball
That's plenty of leadership. What else do you want him to do - write motivational poetry? Only so long you can have a go at the captain before the eye turns to the idiots being lead
No wonder rance and Cotchin resorted to snorting blokes even if outside of their nature

The commie is on the money

RICHMOND immortal Kevin Bartlett says the club’s “pathetic performance” against GWS puts everyone on notice including coach Damien Hardwick.
His comments come just 24 hours after Tigers chief executive Brendon Gale guaranteed Hardwick will be at the helm next year despite the club’s poor season.
But Bartlett says fans are smart and know exactly where the Tigers shortcomings are and the club can’t afford another poor performance this weekend.
“Fans are smart enough to know sides are not all equal with skill, talent, size and experience and clubs are at different stages of development but what fans won’t accept is a lack of genuine effort by not having a go, appearing disinterested, refusing to chase or run hard and devoid of confidence,” Bartlett told SEN.
“Fans can see when sides are just going through the motions, Richmond on the weekend ticked all those boxes with an insipid display against the Giants ... such a pathetic performance has now put everyone at the club on notice.
“For it was an effort that could kill off the coach, it could kill off the board, kill off recruiting managers, kill off assistant coaches and kill off members.
“If the Tigers play like that again against Collingwood on Friday night then Punt Road could blow up.
“Four games to go to see some effort, and for the club not to be embarrassed again.”

They're psychologically fried with confusion.
The seniors don't understand idiots game plan so what hope do the kids have?

stuff that, if he was president Martin would have sat out the year and would more likely than not have his manager fielding calls and comparing offers from every other team in the comp as he determines which club will be his new home next year
