IN: Butler, Maric, Lennon (might as well keep the merry-go-round a turning)

OUTS :
Moore C (merry-go-round swap and to save the kid from anymore torture),
Eliis B (last round statement + cotton wool him for his hew club),
Hampson (seeing hes been so grand and carried the ruck division for 2 teams every week let him finish early)

The Barometer - Round 23

RICHMOND

ON THE BLOCK:
Injury-wise, Jack Riewoldt needed stitches to a cut lip, but nothing to see here. Bachar Houli was in obvious pain after copping a knock to the left wrist he had a screw put in earlier this year. Form-wise, does it really matter any more?

ON THE CUSP: Have played just about everyone but the property steward. Anthony Miles put his hand up for a recall with a best on ground performance in the ressies, while out-of-contract mid Reece Conca was also prominent.

SAM EDMUND’S FORECAST: Nothing to play for, a young team and a road trip to face the rampant finals-bound Swans at the SCG — Lord have mercy on the Tigers. Hardwick and Co. clearly warehoused this campaign some time ago and the last several weeks have been about experimentation. Defensively they may have found something and Todd Elton offered some encouragement against the Saints. But let’s not kid ourselves, after a long and torturous season these blokes are already on the Bintangs in Bali.

Tall Tiger to miss round 23 clash with Swans

RICHMOND forward Ben Griffiths has been ruled out for the Tigers' final-round trip to face the Sydney Swans at the SCG with a groin injury.

The tall forward has missed three of the past four games with the problem and the decision has been made to end his season.

Half-back Kamdyn McIntosh, who had been pushing to return from an ankle injury before the final round, has also been put in cotton wool after just six games this season.

With Griffiths sidelined, the Tigers could choose to recall out-of-contract tall Ty Vickery, whose future at the club is under a cloud.

This season coach Damien Hardwick has repeatedly stated his desire to keep Vickery at the Tigers, but the 26-year-old is yet to sign a new deal.

Griffiths' absence could also allow the Tigers to continue exposing young tall Todd Elton at the top level after he played his third game in five seasons in round 22.

Rookie tall Callum Moore also made his debut against St Kilda on Saturday and could be retained for the trip to the SCG.

Griffiths, 24, played 13 games in 2016 and kicked 14 goals, including a haul of five against the Swans back in round eight.

Would be great if Butler got a game but I doubt Hardwick has the courage to give him a game.

Bring Vickery back in for a farewell game & play him on Buddy!  Not because I think it has any tactical merit, but just so I can watch Vickery underachieve one more time AND enjoy it for a change ...   :santa

In the mix: round 23

RICHMOND

The Tigers have a balancing act in round 23. They can recall impressive VFL performers Anthony Miles (29 possessions) and Reece Conca (21 and two goals), or they can leave them at the second level as the VFL team pushes to play finals. If Richmond beats Coburg and Essendon loses to the Northern Blues then the VFL Tigers will feature in September. Miles did all he could to demand a recall and really should be selected for the clash against the Sydney Swans on form. Half-forward Ben Lennon looks unlikely to return after appearing to play underdone in the VFL and may have played his last senior game for the Tigers if he seeks a new home. Ty Vickery kicked two goals from five touches and it wouldn't surprise if the match committee sticks with youngsters Callum Moore and Todd Elton at senior level.
