Post by: Stalin on October 02, 2016, 07:33:57 PM
The dogs will have the million dollar star Boyd getting min in te ruck with the very solid roughed

 Gws monsters in lobbe, mummy

Other stars scattered around the comp - hopefully nicnat comes good, Goldstein the greatest jew since Geez, the decent Jacobs and other promising youngsters

Another year of the many year fresh deal Of Hampson at tigerland. It must be his break out season?  :shh

Do you see some real domination in this position in te future?

As in us finding someone to dominate the ruck?  Nup for next year.  Chol if we're lucky in 5 years.  Did we recruit Soldo just to make Maric happy?  I've heard neither site nor sound of him since he first appeared.
If anyone happens to know any giants who can kick please contact the RFC recruiting dept asap.

You should get along to a VFL game next year and have a look at Soldo

Impressive development

About time young Soldo had some love on here. His development has been very impressive. His positioning around the ground is very good as is his tap work. He crashes packs and takes the odd mark and snaps the odd goal. He is driven to be our number 1 ruck starting 2018 and is doing everything he can to succeed.

Think people forget this dude is a Category B rookie. Most are pretty content with the fact most rookies fail and this dudes chances are far more slim yet some are expecting him to be our number one ruckman already

He has improved a lot since he started. He is a competitive beast. Another preseason and he'll improve more. He might surpass Hampson faster than you think......(even if that doesn't mean too much :lol)

I saw Soldo a couple of times early in the year and he was below putrid. Honestly I had seen better at local footy.
But I have heard from someone in the club that he really improved in the last half dozen games of the year.
I hope he proves me wrong as I couldn't see it, but good luck to him.

But we still need a decent ruckman for 2017.

I like Longer. I've seen him play some good games and the best bit about him is he is aggressive which as a ruckman is the very minimum. Hampson could crack an egg.

Every year a few ruckman come up for grabs, we just need to be a bit patient.

Rucks only come good at 22 to 24.  It will be years before Soldo or Mabs are up to it.

I laugh at people who advocate for either because one is slightly less poo than the other. Surely we can strive higher than that?

Zac Clarke is only 26 and is way more mobile than someone like TV. He can also kick goals which is more than Hamspud so there is a bright side to him.

Only a marginal upgrade for mine. Has stagnated over the past 2-3 years

Averages 0.1 more goals per match than Hamspud and is nearly as useless around the ground.....

I actually think Hampson is superior as a tap ruckman! That also includes his taps down the throats of opposition mids! :lol

Clearly not as it's now the '17 season and Richmond boasts Hampson #1, a broken Maric, a soccer player solodo, and Tyrone who hates his current club more than travis cloke

Petrie may be uselss in the ruck but at least he can do normal football thing like catch. At tomes megan is literally like playin one down

Now that I'm surprised at as when he was young he kicked a few bags of 5 or 6 if I remember but maybe he reserved that for richmond

Nah I'm making poo up he's best is 3 twice. My memory is rooted.

Don't want Clarke. I reckon Hampson is better than him. We need to look elsewhere.

FWIW I think Soldo will make it. Just needs more time.

Comparison of the ruckmen recruited in this year's drafts.

Changing skyline: Clubs find new avenues for ruckmen

Peter Ryan
AFL website
December 12, 2016

FIFTEEN of the 18 AFL clubs have added a new ruckman to their list since the Western Bulldogs won the flag with two makeshift ruckmen in Jordan Roughead and Tom Boyd.

Only Adelaide, Carlton and Greater Western Sydney did not use the NAB AFL Trade Period, NAB AFL Draft or NAB AFL Rookie Draft to add depth to the position.

The lack of tall timber coming through the ranks combined with changing rules continually altering the role has seen clubs look at all sorts of avenues to find ruckmen capable of backing up the senior crew in the short term at least.

New talls at your club

Adelaide: Reilly O'Brien 201cm (elevated to senior list)
Brisbane Lions: Oscar McInerney 203cm
Collingwood: Max Lynch 200cm
Essendon: Sam Draper 203cm
Fremantle: Sean Darcy 201cm
Fremantle: Luke Strnadica 201cm
Geelong: Ryan Abbott 200cm
Gold Coast: Jarrod Witts 209cm
Hawthorn: Ty Vickery 200cm
Melbourne: Lachlan Filipovic 199cm
North Melbourne: Nick Larkey 197cm
Port Adelaide: Peter Ladhams 202cm
Richmond: Toby Nankervis 199cm
St Kilda: Rowan Marshall 200cm
Sydney: Darcy Cameron 204cm
West Coast: Nathan Vardy 199cm
Western Bulldogs: Tim English 203cm

*Carlton and Greater Western Sydney did not add a player over 197cm
