We have the Thursday night to kick off the seaon
After that reckon we if we score 2 Friday nights we've done very well
We simply dont deserve them
-
i have heard Rd 5 will be a Neville Crowe tribute match with retro guernsey
-
We may not deserve many marquee games next year, but that doesn't mean we deserve the draw from hell either. I remember bottoming out & taking the spoon, our next draw looked fair regarding which teams we played twice, but the AFL 'drew' us to play the entire top eight in the the first nine rounds! Season destroyed by round 7 ... thanks ... :P
Destroying ourselves is one thing, but being destroyed by the 'draw' is another!

Correct - we don't deserve one - should be all Sunday twilights the way they played mostly this year :'(

Saturdays and sundays suit me fine :shh

Saturday arvo. MCG.
And the less interstate games the better.
And if you live interstate and complain, harden up or move to Melbourne.

Our draw will be soft
Because of where we finished
Few Friday nighrs
Fewer FTA games even allowing for there being less games on FTA next hear.
Our draw will be what we deserve based on 2016 results
We were crap our draw will reflect that

Yes, our draw will appear to be soft if you look at who we play twice, for finishing in the bottom 6 we will get double ups against the other bottom 6 sides. My point was that we can still be given the draw from hell while playing the bottom 6 twice.
The wooden spooner being drawn to play the top 8 sides inside the first 9 rounds was the example given ....
I don't care WHEN we play or even WHERE we play, what matters is WHO we play & in what order, particularly in the first 6-7 games of the season!

2 games against a resurgent Freo
2 games against a resurgent Brisbane
2 games against a resurgent Carlton

2 games against a resurgent and very brave Effenscum !!!

Richmond will be handed a dream draw when the 2017 AFL fixture is released
JAY CLARK
Herald Sun
October 26, 2016
RICHMOND’s disastrous finish to last season will ensure Damien Hardwick’s men receive one of the easiest draws in Thursday’s 2017 AFL fixture release.
The Tigers are set to receive a maximum of only one double-up match-up against the top-six sides next season after slumping into the bottom-six of the ladder this year.
Richmond won only one of its last six games to fall into 13th spot.
It means the Tigers will be guaranteed one of the softest line-ups in 2017 with a minimum of two and maximum of three double-up games against fellow bottom six-sides, including Carlton (14th) and Essendon (18th).
They will avoid frequent run-ins with powerhouse teams from the top-six.
Collingwood finished 12th this year and narrowly avoided the same fixture benefits.
The AFL’s weighted rule is designed to create more on-field equity, whereby clubs are scheduled to play more frequent games against teams at similar stages of development.
A kind start to Richmond’s 2017 campaign could help take the pressure off Hardwick, whose assistant coaching panel was overhauled on the back of a disappointing 2016.
Hardwick is out of contract at the end of 2018.
The Tigers have genuine hopes of re-entering the finals mix next season after stacking their midfield with the inclusion of prime onballers Josh Caddy, from Geelong, and Suns’ star Dion Prestia at the expense of veteran Brett Deledio.
Richmond was last night installed a $1.55 favourite with TAB to win the traditional season-opener against Carlton at the MCG.
Teams from the top-six, including premiers Western Bulldogs, Hawthorn and Geelong, will receive the harshest draws.
They are drawn to play a minimum of two and maximum of three double-up games against fellow top-six teams.
Just outside the top-six bracket are North Melbourne and West Coast, who both lost their first-round finals match-ups and will form part of the middle-six grouping in the fixture release.

Great an easy draw to ensure we fall into the 8 and another good old rogering in the EF. The club will laud it as a success and we'll reset for 2018 with Yarran set to debut rd 1. Good times. :bow

Your club's fixture wish list for 2017
Nathan Schmook

RICHMOND
What they'll want: The Tigers have a clear wish list, with three marquee matches. They have prioritised the season opener against Carlton, Anzac Day eve against Melbourne, which falls on a Monday night in 2017, and Dreamtime at the 'G against Essendon. Richmond is also keen to avoid home games at Etihad Stadium, but usually ends up with one. The club is expecting to lose its strong presence on Friday nights after winning just eight games in 2016. Its official submission to the AFL included requests to minimise six-day breaks, particularly after travelling.
The game the fans will be looking for: Round one is always a massive game for the Tigers with all eyes on their showdown against Carlton. An off-season of hope can be stripped away in three hours, but last year showed a win in round one can also provide false cause for optimism.

I look forward to that and the public justification of Hardwick's ninth year as chief loser

"Oh look, finals aside, in a funny sort of way we have an enviable record in big games. And thats important to us."
-
Have to laugh at the notion that floats around about how the draw can gift or cost you a flag.
Complete nonsense. If you're good enough then you win it. If you lose because you had to play Sydney twice and had 2 trips to Perth; is that why you didn't win it, or is it just that you didn't beat the teams that were better than you?
Dogs won it from 7th, including a trip to Perth, beating the best team of the decade on their home ground and a trip to Sydney.
"The Draw" is arguably the most pathetic complaint I hear.
-
Had to laugh. On the Richmond Football club site yesterday it had as the starting time for the last match of season for us next year as 12am.

Fixture is ok. Nothing to be upset over
Would like to be at least 3-3 after 6 rounds for the clubs sake.
Also was disappointed with this:
Round 21 Saturday, August 12
Geelong Cats v Richmond
SS 2:10pm A
If we have to travel there, fine but AFL please ensure all Victorian clubs have to travel there including Blue, Bombers, Pies and N0rf not just Richmond and Melbourne.
Reckon we will finish middle table if injuries are kind to us
-
Freo will probably bounce back, Saints twice will be tough, then of course the Giants, n0rf and Dogs at Etihad again, not a great draw. Will need to actually start the season strong for a change.
-
Great draw
No excuses in 2017
Should get off to a good start and set year up
