Who won your club’s pre-season time trial?
Staff Writers,

7 December 2016
SUMMER is here and our favourite players are back on the track.
But who is lighting it up this pre-season?
With players across the competition beginning to run gruelling time trials, we take a look at which of your club’s chargers are already starting to push for a Round 1 spot next year.
RICHMOND
Injury-plagued Tigers midfielder Nathan Drummond continued his successful return by taking out the club’s 3km time trial. Battling it out against the club’s one-to-four-year players, Drummond saw off Kane Lambert and Kamdyn McIntosh to claim the race.

The hacks always dominate our time trials....we have the fittest duds... :clapping
-
What does this tell us?
-
That we have the fittest duds...can't you read?
-
Going out on a limb here.....but does anyone think we may have the fittest duds?
-
Duds or not, they're putting in.
It's what that fool dimmer does with them in preparation that incapacitates them.
I'm convinced.

Most duds tend to be fitter because that's all they have going for them. ;D

Running around the tan or where ever is one thing, being able to beat your opposition over 5 or 10 metres is another....just saying....just saying
-
Drummond on track to to be led to the ball even quicker... :clapping
Lambert on track to double his output and play 6 good quarters for the year.... :clapping :clapping
McIntosh on track to actually stick a tackle, not over hit every handball and kick to an actual target once in a while..... :clapping :clapping :clapping

McIntosh can blaze away at times but I have seen him do some pretty superb kicks on more than the odd occasion

What is the knock on Maccas tackling?

True but speed is less of an effort thing (in terms of pushing yourself in training and during the trial) and more comes down to natural ability whereas fitness can be improved significantly.
Another thing, I'm not really sure how Rance usually fairs in the time trials but if I had to back anyone to run 3km at the end of the game to win us the match i'd be picking him

Blazes away far too often when he still has time & space....like an outside version of Tuck...
What is the knock on Maccas tackling?
For a player of his size it's pretty ineffective....

Exactly this. One of the few players who will bust a gut no matter how exhausted he is. Like the final round against Syd I think in 2014? He was cramping in the final quarter but still kept getting to the contest
-
As much as you gut a hate B Ellis he also busts a gut. He just is so buggered by the time he gets to the contest his disposal is crap.

But he also usually looks to kick backwards as a first option which makes my head explode every time.

Thats a very interesting observation that must be the reason he plays for the tigers and not someone else, seeing as this "rare" trait of busting a gut is very hard to find in AFL footballers. What a lame excuse, he runs alot and cant dispose of it because he runs alot..I wonder if players like Issac Smith, Hanneberry etc have this rare trait?
Just another light weight that will carve out an AFL career in a club that has offered careers to players who are of a sub standard in many ways, but luckily for them, our super recruiters are that good, the we havent anything better excuse, keeps on giving. He posseses that uncanny ability to look busy and committed to the contest but rarely influences it. Be it tackling, the player he tackles wont really have to break stride and continue on as if there was nothing impeding him, be it, running around garthering inane stats and creating nothing with them. Then produces that 1%er and that one time in band camp moment, pulls the wool over everyone's eyes. To put it in plain english, USELESS.

Says something about the game plan to be honest. Focused on him specifically at the game where we got smashed by GWS and yes he runs almost continually but he was running to the wrong places and when he was clear he was overlooked by teammates.
Someone needs to take him aside and present him with his role within a gameplan that actually works. I can't fault his work ethic but given his efforts he gets the ball way to little and has very little game impact as a result.
If we can harness his ability to run all day then there is no reason why he can't be a consistently damaging player to opposition teams. Quite obviously a chip chip possession style game doesn't suit him at all.

Will be watching the pre season comp with great interest in relation to us, think we'll be able to tell pretty quick if dumma has
switched it up.
Thus allowing some players to play more to thier natural assets as apposed to Benny Hill music.
If not loooong year and plenty of meldowns, unless they wake up and sack him!

Gee wiz, taking anything out of the pre season comp is ludicrous

Would this be post season time trial? When does post end and pre begin?

If they are still going backwards and sideways but you enjoy yourself!
