DAMIEN HARDWICK (Richmond coach)
The last Richmond coach to enter a season aware nothing less than finals would save him was Terry Wallace.
He knew he was gone by May.
Hardwick has the midfield he wants with two extra inside bulls — Dion Prestia and Josh Caddy — and now his side needs to perform.
In no particular order he must straighten out his media messaging, find a cohesive game plan that suits his list’s strengths and find another 30-goal-a-year forward.
Alastair Clarkson spoke on Thursday of bold decisions and game-plan revolution, so what will a man who has modelled his progression on his good mate come up with himself?
Then a Richmond side that started 1-6 in 2016, 2-4 in 2015 and 3-10 in 2014 just simply must get away to a start that sees the media pack away from their doorstep.

Yep so he can move the best of them (Martin) back to an outside role and revert to a good but not great player

A gameplan that continues to destroy careers since 1982? :huh

The reason we struggle early in the season is that Dimma seems to bring the new gameplan out the closet in January. The players clearly struggle following it during pre season games and then he tries to tweek things come season proper. To me it shows a lack of confidence and a lack of know how in coming up with a plan which best suits the cattle he has.

would you rather martin feeding the ball out to caddy and miles, or caddy and miles feeding it out to martin?

Play them all back, from the experts book on the RFC.... :lol
Hardwick will be gone if we don't turn up and Martin will leave. The RFC story, rebuilding since 1980.

can you ever contribute something to a conversation that shows your football knowledge and understanding goes beyond not to look at the ball while kicking it?

Yeah Chuck, take note.
-
ill take that as a no
-
At least let him answer.

Wonder if the penny will drop with Hardwick or if he'll keep playing slow, ugly, high-possession football letting opposition teams flood the backline while we kick to contests in the outer pockets.
-
Will he finally start to realise that tackling & shepherding are important?

Tackling is not important either according to the expert. :bow

Obviously the latter but those aren't the only two options. Martin should be used as an inside midfielder and forward IMO. Also Martin is more likely to feed the ball to the other 30+ times a game whereas the others would be more likely to do it only 20 times. On another note I wonder if we'll see much of Miles. I like him as a player but he is definitely limited to an inside midfield role whereas I'm sure Dimma will be looking to replace him with Caddy, Dion and whoever else can be flexible

Which expert is this supposed to be?

we had a massive 1325 last year, just nudging out baggas and bombers.
Buldogs and swans had the most
whoever says its a meaningless stat is obviously on the shawitzi.
That being said any tackle that someone like edwards ever did is considered meaningless in my eyes.
