Gun, he actually stood up when the chips were down.
Never forget is 10 goal haul!
-
spoken like a true mate
ps it's snowing here ;D
-
Wheres here ?
Hoggy good bloke as well
-
Played in a rotten era for a player. Pretty good versatile player (play up back or fwd) when we didn't have many. His 10 goals was a highlight v Pies. The trade for him wasn't a bad one either - Dundas, Gale and Broderick for memory. Was Jamie Elliot in on this deal or was that another one?
Felt Hogg had been shafted a bit after a good career with the Tiges, but as was proven, he didn't last much long (back injury i think). Always wondered if he felt bitter as a result towards the club and if he still has any involvement/interest.
-
Was involved in the mentor program last year.
-
its a shame his back screwed his career. a very underrated player and captain. his 10 goal haul v the pies is a day i will never forget, if ui recall it was the mothers day masacre and kb's best coaching day day.
hoggy was a gun
-
At the time I always wanted us to have 3 Jeff Hoggs. One at Full Forward, One at Full Back and one anywhere else along the spine. He was a very good player who played in a poo team and who was underated.
-
Growing up my mates had heros in their side like Abeltt, Dunstall, Carey, Locket...
I had Hogg.
:P :-\ ;)

The heroes your mates had are ordinary blokes to say the least.
Hoggy was a good bloke, off and on the field.

I too was a Hoggy fan. As has been mentioned if he were in a reasonable team he would have been twice the player. I bled when he was transferred but in hindsight it was a good move. Sometimes you have to give up something good to receive something good.

According to the 2004 AFL yearbook which has a draft history, we got Brodders, Gale and Dundas in exchange for pick #6 and received pick #26 in return for Hoggy. We then picked up Jamie Elliot in the PSD (#3).
Hoggy was injury-riddled when we traded him. His best was behind him and we had a young Richo to replace him in the forward line.
-
He was a gifted player. Unfortunate to play in a bad era which made his job as a forward difficult but he still had his moments. I'd rank him up there with the likes of Gary Lyon.
-
Yep, Hoggy was a Gun.
I remember he even performed well for a Victorian second team that played up in Brisbane if i remember correctly.
Its a shame we dont have a young Hogg in our team now.
-
No Father and son either, his wife recently had a girl- Millie. Keeping trying Hoggy!
-
Ahhhhhhhh Jeff Hogg - felt sorry for him, not only playing in but also captaining a very average side a very average side but in IMO a very good player who gave everything, everytime

Yeah I aloways remember KB having to defend playing him at stuff and lamenting that he only had one Hoggy when we needed 3 or 4 ;D

I remember that game so well (actually I have it on video :lol) because I recall Ma Powell saying to me on the way home that it was a very nice way to spend Mother's day :thumbsup
IIRC Freezer gave one P. Daicos a bit of a spanking that day

Hoggy hoggy hoggy, oi oi oi, hoggy, oi, hoggy oi hoggy hoggy hoggy, oi oi oi
GUN
Great lead, great one grab mark and great kick for goal. Would have kicked 100 in a decent team.
Loved yelling HHHHHOOOOOOOGGGGGGGGGGGGYYYYYYYYYYY !!!!!!!!!!!!

Cleve Hughes inacrnate!!!
A magnificent lead and a true technician at kicking the football!
He was a gun in a very poor side. Had his limitations as a footballer couldn't jump for example, but was very versatile, took a bullet for the club when traded. The tigers got Broderick, Dundas and Michael Gale, 2 of which were superb players for the tigers.
A lovely person to boot!
Right about that one Jackstar! and welcome back

If Cleve ends up as good as Hoggy we'll all be very happy Tiger fans.

Hoggy was great player in an average side. Always made the most of his opportunities and even though He once inadvertently knocked a hot four n' twenty out of my hands in the southern after kicking a goal he was still my favorite player at the time. He was also a very fair and honest player who stood his ground and never took a dive.
