Dimma post-game ...
VIDEO: http://www.richmondfc.com.au/video/2017-03-05/jlt-2-hardwick-postmatch-
---------------------------------------------------
The Tigers have a six-day break before they face Collingwood next Saturday in Moe, Victoria. Hardwick wasn't impressed.
"It's incredibly baffling, to be perfectly honest. It just staggers me. We're playing practice matches and we've got six-day breaks," he said.
Shane Edwards will play in that game after he was left out on Sunday, suffering from a virus.
Hardwick was happy to see his side win the contested ball count 136-123, after it ranked 12th in the competition for that stat last year.
"Our game over the previous three years (2013-15) has been built off the back of contested ball," he said.
"We were disappointed in that factor last year and our contested ball and clearance numbers have been a lot more steady in the first two games."

-
I would say, he's become a little more buoyed by the 2 wins, gained a little lost confidence, wants to beat Collingwood, worried about lack of recovery time obviously.
-
Pre season -The March of the fool.
-
I'm enjoying the endeavour and flair but as Ox stated March form means nought. On the other hand it's better than being Carlton ATM.
-
I remember the farcical fashion we started last year and it was reflective in a less than inspiring effort against Carlton - and losing from a seemingly unlosable position against Collingwood the following week . Season over.
Early days , blah blah blah - but this year already has a different vibe .
Think we will put Carlton to the sword this year.

More from Dimma ...
Hardwick happy with tougher Tigers
Improvements in the key on-field areas of defensive pressure and contested-ball work have been a highlight of Richmond’s JLT Community Series campaign so far.
The Tigers have displayed a keen desire throughout the two games they’ve played to apply plenty of pressure to the opposition, particularly in their forward-50.
As a result, they’ve been able to lock the ball in and have more scoring opportunities, which has been a significant factor in their JLT Community Series victories over Adelaide first-up, and then Port Adelaide in Mt Gambier on Sunday.
Also, importantly, Richmond has won the contested-ball count in both games – 141-128 against the Crows and 136-123 against Port.
“Our defensive intensity has been very good, our tackle pressure, our pressure inside 50 . . . we had 15 tackles again today (v Port Adelaide). So we’ve been pleased with that aspect,” Richmond coach Damien Hardwick said at his post-match press conference yesterday.
“We’ve still got a bit of work to do – there are some areas we have to clean up – but it’s been a positive step, the first two games . . .
“Our contested-ball numbers were disappointing last year, as were our clearances, so we’re looking to rectify that.
“(Toby) Nankervis certainly helps in that area and (Trent) Cotchin and (Dustin) Martin only played two and a bit quarters today. But once those guys get up and going . . .
“Then we bring (Dion) Prestia back in the side – he didn’t play this week – and Josh Caddy’s had an influence . . . I thought (Anthony) Miles was terrific as well (against Port).
“So, we’ve got a great deal of depth through there, and it’s probably our strength.
“We’ve just got to make sure we spread that strength around, and use some of those guys up forward at various stages, also.”

No way, Hampson was a revelation last season and was rewarded for his stellar improvement which included an overhead mark and a goal with a 2 year contract extension. This was backed up with a vote of confidence in him by re-signing Ivvy complete with walking frame, I wont touch on the lunacy that transpired during the trade period that nearly had Toby Nankervis left stranded at the Swans..that bit of farcical list management is one for the ages :banghead

imagine if he upped his average to 6.8 ? if 1.2 got him a 2 year extension, 6.8 would have got him 5 years at a mill a year :huh
-
What is blooddy hilarious is that and it isnt talked about to much, most lilkely more to do with the board hiding from its ineptitude, but harking back pre 2016, we get the 2 year extension given to Hardwick, to avert any media speculation and all that crap they put up as their reasons for the extension, because it would allow him to focus on the real deal stuff, onfield. And now with that masterstroke back then, Hardwick goes into 2017 as the coach that will be most under the pump because of the 2 year extension...great work Benny, you really have got your finger on the pulse man lmaooo....I hope Benny has told Balmey to make sure Hardwick doesnt run players into the ground in his desperate attempts to save his career as a few before him have done.

Maybe they've realised how crappola our starts are which puts us under the pump for the rest of the season. We ain't a Paul Roos Sydney side that can lose 3 of their first 4 and still win 16 to make top 4.

Strikes me as a perfectly reasonable point.
I tend to agree with Robbo on the preseason (despite myself) when he made the point that the preseason means naught, except that it has a galvanising effect for the team when you notch up a few wins. All the methods and tactics and gameplans you've been running over the Dec-Jan period appear to be something that can win games and people "buy" into it more.

legend has it and ontop of that a little biirdy landed on my shoulder and proceeded to poo on it before it whispered the following:
Back in the days of 2015 or the one before the latest trade/draft we had a latte with Nakkers management and expressed our desire to secure his services. I think the story goes that he wanted to stay another year with the Swans to see if he could secure a regular spot in the 22 and put in a huge pre season and basically busted his butt, in the knowledge that we were wanting him and ontop of breaking into the 22 he wanted to super impress us so we could swing a deal. So the last trade period rolls around and his manager is waiting for that call from us to talk turkey and naddaaa, diddly squat, cricktets from us. He waited and waited thinking ok they have got to fry biggger fish with the Prestia stuff and what was jumping up in front of them re Caddy and Lids so he waited and only at the death knock did he ring and say to the imbeciles at tigerland, hey fools, my client busted his butt to get super fit and do all the ahrd yards in the knowledge that you wanted him last year and put it off and now what the stuff are you doing. We had stuffing forgotten about him....like i said legend has it. :shh

You've left out the part that Carlton had to do with it.
Truth be known, the club did not contact Nanks management until it was obvious that the Gibbs deal would fall through. That was going to be like a domino falling event. We had promised to get Prestia first and foremost but wanted to get pick 13 on traded to us (for Lids) to stay in last years first round. When that did not look like happening we were able to get on with other trades including Nank. Pick 46 for him will end up being a steal.

Where did you pull 6 months prior knowledge from?
I expect Richmond would have questioned the AFL immediately after receiving the scheduling news.
Hardwick was asked in a public forum regarding the 6 day break.
You've lost the plot Flash.

So when was the JLT scheduled and when was the AFL fixture released?
You expect? If your expectations were on the money then I am tipping the media would have been all over it like a cheap suit or yes maybe we did but kept it under wraps in an effort to allow our coach to put his foot in it again. I mean, why not question it last week or the week before? Oh ok, its his new game plan, play mental games with the opposistion :pray

JLT fixture was released either late October or early November. Was delayed while they tired to get a sponsor for it
AFL fixture was released mid - late October
Club raised its concerns at the time, not sure what the whack is for TBH, he was asked a question, he answered
A whack just because you can?

would have thought with what has transpired over the stretch, saying nothing would have held him in better stead IMO. Why not say it is what it is and get on with it.

While I'm no Hardwick fan, he just answered the question truthfully. I can understand the frustration when even practice matches are scheduled so poorly. I can't see anything here honestly.

You clearly just make poo up so you can hang it on the Club.
The first report in media that we were interetsed in Nankervis was 6th October last year.
Dan Richardson confirmed, "We’ve expressed an interest in Toby and at this stage the Swans certainly want to retain him" 10th October
The trade went through 2 hours after the prestia trade was finalised on 19th Oct, the second last day of the trade period.
These facts hardly fall in with your "legend", do they?
I think you read too much into a lump of bird droppings on your shoulder.

Not wanting to stick the boot in here Flash but really you're making a mountain out of a molehill here IMO. I just don't understand, you're potting the club for successfully making a trade that they had in the works for a year??? :huh :huh
Farcical list management? Are you referring to the ruckman they identified BEFORE 2016 when he came onto the radar of clubs (meaning they plucked one from the heard) and then brought across for what appears to be a very reasonable trade?

I dont think you get it do you? Had it not been for his manager calling up and saying hey, my client put in the big effort to prove to you he wants in where are yas? Had he not we would have missed the boat on him...why do you think they had resigned Ivvy? If they were on the ball with getting Nank, there was no need to resign Ivvy but they did, because they were not going after Nank until they were woken up by his manager. now if we did that on purpose to drop the price all good, but after consistent stuff up after stuff up, i would suggest they were asleep at the wheel.

I think someone is trying to take my Griggster role with the BS he is sprouting

I heard at a luncheon last week that Hawthorn were talking to Jagar's manager 3 or 4 years ago about getting him over in the 2016 trade period. And it came from a Hawthorn person that joked that he basically signed back then.
Maybe a bit of tongue in cheek, and I'm sure he didn't really want to go into too much detail but it wouldn't surprise me as some clubs think longer term than just the season they are in.
I recon the Dangerfield trade went a bit the same.
Anyway I just hope we are as shifty as some of the other clubs.

I remember the farcical fashion we started last year and it was reflective in a less than inspiring effort against Carlton - and losing from a seemingly unlosable position against Collingwood the following week . Season over.
How did we lose that game anyway
Hampson
No way, Hampson was a revelation last season and was rewarded for his stellar improvement which included an overhead mark and a goal with a 2 year contract extension. This was backed up with a vote of confidence in him by re-signing Ivvy complete with walking frame, I wont touch on the lunacy that transpired during the trade period that nearly had Toby Nankervis left stranded at the Swans..that bit of farcical list management is one for the ages :banghead
could you elaborate on this please?
Yes please do.
x3
legend has it and ontop of that a little biirdy landed on my shoulder and proceeded to poo on it before it whispered the following:
:shh
LOL Legend has it?
You clearly just make poo up so you can hang it on the Club.
The first report in media that we were interetsed in Nankervis was 6th October last year.
Dan Richardson confirmed, "We’ve expressed an interest in Toby and at this stage the Swans certainly want to retain him" 10th October
The trade went through 2 hours after the prestia trade was finalised on 19th Oct, the second last day of the trade period.
These facts hardly fall in with your "legend", do they?
I think you read too much into a lump of bird droppings on your shoulder.
\
all good champ...you stick to your facts. :sleep
Ill do that.
Im sure you need no encouragement to keep to your made up poo
