Love the idealism, not sure it's going to happen. Hasn't improved since his first year.
-
Do you reckon he's got full blown Tigeritis or has he just been Hardwicked?

It's a double infection

I think he needs to be an inside mid. He just doesn't know how to get involved enough when playing at the ends of the ground.
-
Been worried about him for a while and think he's grossly over rated by a lot of supporters on what hes done to date (which is barely average for mine)- but reckon he's shown a bit when thrown in the guts, so quite excited to see him as part of the midfield rotations. Agree that he just doesnt do enough or get involved enough when playing in defence and often as a spare man. Big big year for him
-
I was expecting him to really break out last year as he has the right number of games behind hiM now but in a dismal side maybe he was dragged down by the general mood and playing style. I would expect him to step up this year as he has 80 games and he should influence the outcome now. If he doesn't then yeah its been coached into him.

Brb starting a new thread on a player I don't rate

Q for you TM - are you more or less excited having seen him get mid field minutes in the pre season?

For mine, less excited.
Plus more concerned and ill throw in aggitated.
-
Which is why I posted this thread.

also with what I saw in one of the games at the G last year (think it was the swans IIRC), first half was influencing the game but ran out of juice and did nothing second half.
Didnt dominate the JLT series by any stretch, but looked comfortable and had some good moments in the first 2, didnt do much in the final game but neither did most of our players.

Have to disagree. Apart from one score involvement and link up in game 1, he looked uncomfortable at best. Did not know where to run. It all boiled over in game 3 when he laid two really hard tackles out of frustration and gave away a couple of stupid frees. Hardwick shifted him back into defense to get some touch.
The experiment to date has been a big failure. Lets hope he can turn it around.

Isnt it interesting how 2 people watching the same game can have such differing views. Time will tell, I've never been one to shirk it and put my hand up when I've been wrong in the past
-
I think if he plays inside midfield like he did when Cotch was injured last year he will do just find. As pointed out earlier he just simply looks lost in front of goals.

I'd personally rather be the one putting my hand up to be wrong
-
I hope that too :)

I rate Vlas in our best 12, he will be fine, i trust he will find his feet no problemos, Love The Vlas

I'm more worried about C. Ellis than Vlastuin.
At least we know Vlastuin can be a pretty decent defender if he doesn't reach the heights as a midfielder as we all hope.
I'm not really sure I know what roll C. Ellis can play. I don't think he is desperate enough to be a defender, I don't think he has enough pace or total footy smarts to combat him not being overly quick to be a genuine AFL midfielder/wingman, and I don't see him as a forward at all.
Where do other see C. Ellis playing?

Good call BT, number 12 draft pick, unsure myself where he shd play, looks like another one of our neither here, neither there, neitger fish nor fowl draft picks atm, but happy to hear about the team deficiencies he addresses from our OER guru football dept.

Just wait until C.Ellis gets some genuine midfield minutes :clapping :clapping. Injuries have hampered him but you'll see

The thing with tigger is that he hasn't really progressed beyond his first year efforts. He actually had an outstanding first year but hasn't really matured much passed that. He was heroic in our '13 final against Carlton.
He'll get there, quality person, finding his place in the team. He's not a natural defender, just a natural team player.

X2 but I get the sentiment BT.

The sort of player who'll always be under appreciated - being a first rounder doesn't help matters.....won't quite be the Michael Voss mk.II some of us hoped/expected (guilty as charged) but very solid playing all three lines without being spectatcular, he'll get better in the guts & up forward and probably continue to plug holes down back when required as he did tonight to great effect after Carlton got on their mini-roll, players like that are worth their wait in gold & I suspect after he retires people many of his critics will reassess and realise just how crucial he actually was....but those who watch already do....
Oh and a lazy 12 tackles last night just quietly..... :shh

Yer well said.
Not the sort of player to rack up 30 when in the middle but will do a lot of "grunt" work which can go unnoticed. Also just a baby in terms of experience as a midfielder at this level.
I thought he did well last night and if you cannot see that and would prefer to watch Houli than I feel sorry for you.

Worked like an arab donkey last night, copped a dirty shoulder in the face in the middle that the umps ignored too. I rate him
