Making something of nothing
The Riolis have a rare ability to impact matches without needing to rack up a high number of possessions. Daniel, like cousin Cyril, is an expert in one-on-one combat – or, on this occasion, beating two opponents. The second-year Tiger contested a high ball, won it on the ground near the boundary, saw off Brad Sheppard, then dished to Dion Prestia. The script was already written in Rioli's head by that stage and he gleefully accepted the ball back from Prestia before a superb checkside finish tied the scores in the third term.

Name any other second year player who has ever been able to do that

Daniel has already shown some magic this season & as he gains more experience his mercurial tricks will come to the fore. How exciting is this to have a youngster like this leading the way & having our other forwards learn from his bag of tricks. How awe inspiring to be a forward at Richmond now with a Rioli by your side?...Look forward to more of those momentum changing goals during the season. Go Daniel...

Rioli is up against Murphy and Treloar for Goal of the Week.

Rioli re-enacted THAT goal at training today to show it wasn't a fluke :bow.

Was there, and have to say one of the things I absolutely LOVE about this kid is his confidence and that he takes the game on.
The determination on his face when he put that ball to his boot was fantastic.
Too many blokes would go soft and look for a BS chip-off in that situation instead of go for the six points...
