I am now so confused. I thought muslims were evil because their religion tells to be and they only bring pain and suffering to those that dont follow their version of Islam :huh3

It's really good to hear a positive story about Muslims in Australia.  We hear such negative press and it's a fragile peace we live in. One really bad incident just turns sentiment on a dime these days.

Hope your mum recovers soon oh wise one.

Thanks all, The bloke is a miracle worker, no-one else wanted a bar of it, but him and his team said we can do it.  Big shout out to all those in the medical profession, most under appreciated people everyone, nurses, doctors, orderlies.

Thanks Owl. I have worked with Nezor personally. Yes we work extremely long hours at times but the results are just so satisfying. Very privileged to be a medico as you can make a difference between life and death to so many people. I am glad your mother is doing well. Best wishes to the Owl family.

Yes we are very privileged there too. Mind you I know business people (and some tradies) who take in significantly more than most medicos but nobody makes comments about them....

Nurses cop a raw deal IMO. I have contact with a few and their pay packet is not hig considering the job they do.

The worst are teachers.

Most overpaid and under-worked profession of the lot.

And they get 13 weeks holiday a year.

PS I wish Hooters mum a speedy recovery

Just like any other profession, some are slack, some are hard working.

11 weeks holiday.

Countless hours on weekends assessing, planning and preparing.

Taught on and off for years, can be draining, mainly adults but it can be a rewarding profession if you put the effort in

Good news about your mum Owl.  :thumbsup

16 hrs surgery! That is truly amazing.  :clapping
I think Doctors and nurses that really care and works their arse off to save lives should be celebrated more by the community in general but mostly these things only get noticed by those they help. .

The most overrated and most celebrated profession has to be actors, more awards than any other profession. The most corrupt profession has to be lawyers and maybe  CFMEU & ETU union officials a close second.

So good to see so many positive comments about nurses and docs, my wifes a registered nurse and worked in the head trauma rehab unit at epworth for years, (she nursed Graeme Polak when he had the accident). The things these people see and deal with on a regular basis and then go home to their lives - they deserve a medal

Yep. And the conditions arent great. They should be remunierated accordingly. One could make a case for double pay.

I'll vouch for that  ;). 'Medico's' (good ones) deserve every cent. Mind you my engineering based logic saved my wife's life once when a Dr wrongly diagnosed a chronic, incurable, terminal illness (fibrosis of the lung). After a week of research I came to the conclusion that she indeed had an acute episode of pneumonia (walking) and going down fast. I even recommended the course of antibiotics she required. He reluctantly gave in (humoured me) after some debate. 2 days later she was up and about and he was blown away when we visited him on the third day at which time blood tests he took on the first day confirmed that she did have the illness I stated. It was the particular aspect of the 'crystal glass affect' displayed on the CT scan that gave it away. Always...always get a 2nd opinion and do your own research in this situation. Anyway I digress... Medicos have the highest suicide rate of any profession as well so I don't decry any monetary reward they receive.

Think you need to look on page 1 as that's what he was referring to.

This is about owls mum who was helped enormously by a doctor and who happens to be a good person by all reports. No need to bring up anything else, but some can't resist as they have nothing else to bring to the table.

It's a good news story with a great ending let's leave it at that.

My mum and sister work in the health industry

The pay the nurses get is disgusting

Yep. Less than receptionists in some cases who some are known to sit on stuff for half the day.

Def underpaid IMO

Just a shame Houli was not as good at his job as his brother is.
Sorry OWL but Houli is fair game regardless of what his brother did or  what his religion is.
