The AFL wishes to advise the Match Review Panel has reviewed the round five Richmond v Melbourne match of the 2017 Toyota AFL Premiership Season. The following charges were laid:
Charges Laid:
Trent Cotchin, Richmond, has been charged with being the instigator of a melee during the third quarter of the Round Five match between Richmond and Melbourne, played at the MCG on Monday April 24, 2017.
In summary, he can accept a $1500 sanction with an early plea.
A first offence for being the instigator of a melee is classified as a $2500 sanction. The player has no applicable record which impacts the penalty. An early plea enables the player to accept a $1500 sanction.
Jack Riewoldt, Richmond, has been charged with a third offence for being involved in a melee during the third quarter of the Round Five match between Richmond and Melbourne, played at the MCG on Monday April 24, 2017.
In summary, he can accept a $2500 sanction with an early plea.
A third offence for being involved in a melee is classified as a $4000 sanction. An early plea enables the player to accept a $2500 sanction.
Viney and Jones were fined as well.

Rubbish fine. AFL just had to pin a Richmond player to make Melbourne feel slightly better about themselves.
