ANOTHER setback in Richmond ruckman Shaun Hampson's recovery from a back injury could see him miss the rest of the year.
Hampson, 29, struggled through the pre-season with the complaint and was placed on the long-term injury list in March.
Tigers coach Damien Hardwick said on Friday he didn't know exactly how long Hampson would be sidelined for.
"He had a setback, I think it was last week again," Hardwick said.
"Unfortunately with backs, you're never quite sure how they're going to respond. He'll be moving well and then all of a sudden something won't feel right and he'll go back a little bit.
"It's going to be longer than we initially thought, how long we're not too sure."
Hampson has turned to pilates to improve his weaknesses.
"It's always in the back of your mind that it's one of those ones that might hang around for 12 months," Hardwick said.
"He's doing a power of work on some areas that are a little outside the square.
"He's doing a lot of pilates off-site. We're just saturating him with that at the moment, just to try and get a bit of stability around his back and pelvis area."
Hampson is contracted until the end of 2018 and is stranded on 98 games.

And there you go, as I stated when this broke months ago the "injury" will be a long term thing which will lead into retirement as a face saver for the RFC over the dud deal of the century
-
This is magical news :clapping
-
Injury prone all of his career and not up to AFL standard anyway. Pay him out FFS and get him to retire. Btw I don't blame the player at all.
-
Phew !!!
-
Has to concentate on not dropping his baby
-
This is fantastic news for most RFC supporters :clapping

He has had blood injected into the discs to try and fix the issue
Take him over Elton anytime
Hopefully he can get back

What?
Might be PRP (platelet rich plasma) but I doubt he had blood injected.
-
Well that's what he said
Into the disc area

To be fair, that's hardly a glowing endorsement.
Even WP said last week that WP or I would get a game ahead of Elton.

Take Elton of you Dooks👍

PRP is essentially blood in laymens terms. Most of the general public (including footballers) would not be able to differentiate between the two.

Thanks for that YR

Hampson bashes would wish we have him right now
-
Yes we really wanted Adelaide to win by 100 points....

Are you all there?

Hampson bashes would wish we have him right now
Yet you put "good" money on richmond to win without him.
Bash yourself and do us a favour - do it properly.

he is probably referring to next week, and he may be right with nankervis out for a week or 2.
though its probably a nil all draw as the dogs dont have a ruck either do they?
-
Nankervis gets suspended
Who you go to bring in now

Verne Troyer would be a better option than Hampson

Poo?

You never know what you have got until it is gone
Dont know how to break this to you Jack but your man Hampson would not made one iota of difference. Jacob's would have toweled him right up.
Would have killed him around the ground. The Nank had a poor game but at least he gives us a presence at contest. Hampson does not, all he offers is his tap work which BTW going by how this season is playing out means very little

Unless it was never 'there' in the first place. Like your football knowledge.

Nanks poor game is
Disposals 14
Marks 2
Hit outs 38
Tackles 7
I would suggest that Hampson never once reached the heights of Nanks poor game

Apart from the hit outs, that reads like Hamspud's yearly stats....
You never know what you have got until it is gone
They paved Punt Road and Jack waits in the parking lot....

But has Nank mastered the 'fresh air handball attempt'? I think not
-
Doesn't train like Hampson and now Morris... :shh
-
Nank hasn't tried to fool the opposition by going the other way either :shh
-
Nank hasn't used his forehead to subtly deflect the ball to his teams advantage either

Megan Gale, 41, has revealed that she doesn't want her son River, 3, to follow in his father Shaun Hampson's AFL footsteps.
'[River] could he the best footballer on the planet in 20 years but that will be his choosing,' she told the publication.
'Shaun has seen how hard it is,' Megan added. 'Shaun's body is broken. He's 29. He's going to be riddled with arthritis. We don't want that for our son, necessarily.'
Shaun, who plays AFL for the Richmond Tigers, was put on the team's long-term injury list in March thanks to a lingering back injury.
