Pathetic.
I remember meeting Brian Taylor at a school footy clinic back when he played for Richmond.

Looks like Tambo is touching up Jordan in your avatar willy

It's gone 'Turkish Bath-house' in here all of a sudden. I'm getting out before Yeahright arrives...

Not saying it's right but it's a legal requirement these days
Parents who conduct Aus kick clinics, parents who coach kids sporting teams and people who umpire kids sports to name a few all have to get these checks done now
Literally Jumping through hoops...
Part of me gets it, the other part of me just thnks :facepalm
-
Wp, it says the check was not required until 1st of august ? I can absolutely get the legal side of it, most people who work with kids need to get it. But if it's not needed until the 1st of aug then what's the problem

Thanks
I thought the new changes had already come in. Obviously that's not the case..
The AFL as the controlling body should be aware of all requirements but I doubt they'd have a clue
-
Afl or rfc ?
-
Agree the situation is a farce, but it is utterly ridiculous that players don't have a WWCC. Should be a matter of routine that they all apply and get one. Everyone knows that you can't have formal contact with kids without one these days.
-
Afl or rfc ?
AFL
The run the show, they should ensure clubs are aware of these requirements. Ditto the players association. Surely those at the top should be directing clubs about this
They control things

So I guess once we find out whether the afl did implement a system in which the clubs knew what was required of their players, we can work out who stuffed up.
No other clubs have.

I have it on good authority that it is all Dimmas fault

It's not hard to get. It's just an administrative bungle.

Nah I think he was just obsessed with you

There is a stranger twist to this story
Other Richmond players attended schools on the same day
No police check required
I know that Shane Edwards and Taylor Hunt attended a special needs school out in the eastern suburbs and were welcomed with open arms
Kids and staff were extremely happy that they took there time out to visit , have pics taken etc
Hopefully this story isn't about Dusty

Can we please merge with the "sack Dimma" thread

Interesting
The twist may end up being the other school not following the requirements
Cue the Education department investigating ;D

So hypothetically if they turned Dustin away who had a valid work with children permit, or didnt need one until 1 August, on what legal basis did they do so?
-
My information re the other schools is they didn't ask
It was arranged that the players do school visits on the day and they did
The stuff I have is that the players were terrific and that's from a dog supporter
-
I want politicians to show me their working with children check when they lob up to schools

It is all grey
There is conflicting media reports on whether
* they should already have the permits,
* when do the changes come in
* if the AFL and by extension the clubs are aware of any changes
* was the school over zealous and / or not aware of the requirements as the stand
* are the other schools not applying the rules correctly
As I said a lot of grey, seems no one is 100% sure. Lots of speculation but very little clarity
And I think it is being a little mischievous to suggest as Jack did this has something to do with or may have something to with or is somehow related to Dusty

It's gone 'Turkish Bath-house' in here all of a sudden. I'm getting out before Yeahright arrives...
I didn't realise my "stature" intimidated you :-* ;)
On topic: I would like some clarification on when the check was required i.e. why do they claim August 1st? I have been required to update my check for years. On the other hand, I was also under the impression that if you were under supervision then there is no requirement for the check? Perhaps that's going to change on Aug 1st. But from experience when I was a lad these events were always supervised by teachers so I'm not sure what the issue is?
Either way, whatever stops another St Kilda school girl incident (wonder if some of them will be able to get a working with childrens check :shh) is fine by me

Spot on Mr. Turkish Bath. WWC regulations have been tightened due to the Royal Commission into child sexaul abuse. Anyone who has direct contact with children needs one, in the past, if you had others with WWC suervising you then you didnt need a WWC. It was brought in for August 1 to allow people the chance to get their WWC in time. All junior footy clubs (and other organisations) in Vic are bound by this.
-
Cheers brother, makes sense :thumbsup
-
So all players visiting visiting Royal Childrens Hospital incl camera crews will also need WWC accreditation?

It's fairly straightforward, their PA's probably do it for them

Having worked in the Criminal Justice System I must say I agree with this. Paedophiles were the most pernicious and obsessive offendors I came across by far. Sad state of affairs.

Is.it true that non-paedophile prisoners give Paedophiles a rightly rough time in prison?

17 years ago (when I was in the game) the answer was no. They were segregated within the larger prisons and given priority to be transferred to Country 'prison farms' if they behaved. Prisons had changed from the days when rough justice was meted out and guards turned a 'blind eye' to it.
Just an aside....What drove my frustration 'through the roof' at the time was the ' kid glove' approach agencies had to sex offenders with disabilities and/or sexual dysphoria. One of my worst interviews was with a 'man' who had severely raped/bashed a kindly grandmother some years ago and said it was because of his unacknowledged dysphoria at the time.
The most dangerous 'fairy tale' you can say to your loved ones is that all humans are born equal and innocuous. You'd be much better off to say that until proven otherwise everyone is trying to garrotte you. That would sharpen the mind somewhat.
Took me 6 months of walking in the forest (we tried a tree change) daily to get over that job.
After 25 years working in 'Human Services' I returned to my Engineering background and rarely look back.
-
I administered a Lawn bowling Program for the North Coast Academy of Sport and had a police licence to work with children however when i worked Coaching both women and children i was careful to asked them if they minded me " touching their body? '
It can be a minefield out there!
