Fire away ... :-\.
-
I would take an undersized Miles who has more grunt than Batchelor any day.
I want to give Ellis one more chance. Lennon has to come in for either Butler or Castagna as both went missing today
-
Castagna often bites off more than he can chew, decision making and kicking is below afl. I'd prefer to keep butler over the two. Bring in Bolton.
-
Who cares, probably not a good time to be posting
-
Hardwick out

I'd give lloyd a game ahead of Lennon. One guy works his arse off for the club the other expects to get a game without working his arse off.

We have found common ground.
-
The three small forwards are applying forward pressure but they are not scoring enough. Think we need to drop one and give Lennon a go or maybe Lloyd. They at least can take a mark. Elton is not the answer but not sure if we have any choice on the CHF spot atm. Batch did very little.
Out. Batch, Castanga, Lambert.
In Vlaston, Lennon, Prestia.
-
When is this mental fragility of our team going to end??
Been happening for 30 years
-
We played one short today
No more Markov for me

Vlastuin was at a pre- match and confirmed he won't be back until after the bye
So line through him
Prestia is a certain starter
-
Out: Castagna, Elton, Lambert, Batchelor, C.Ellis
In: Bolton, Soldo, Miles, Moore, Lennon
-
Out
Batchelor - leg injury
Castagna - needs a rest and needs to clean up his skills
C. Ellis - go back and learn to play inside mid and return when ready to go.
Markov - needs to find his best position. I think he should be playing B. Ellis position on the HDF.
Elton - not doing enough
In
Prestia
Lloyd
Miles
Menadue
Soldo? Chol? We don't have a clear second tall forward option. Elton might need to continue...
-
We played one short today
No more Markov for me
We play more than one short mate, but you are 100% right, he was putrid today.
I'd still stick with him though.
Plenty to go before him imo.

-
Out:. Markov, C Ellis, Castagna, Elton, Butler
In, Miles, Lennon, Lloyd, Bolton, Menadue
The 3 small forward set up worked well for a while but it's a shambles now. Can't kick enough goals.
-
Out. finals
In. draft picks
-
MY outs
Houli, BEllis, CEllis, Batch, Astbury
My ins
Stengle, Moore, Bolton, Lennon, Prestia
Moore and Lennon to both play forward
McIntosh, Rance and Grimes as our tall defenders (Astbury needs to learn that his stupidity is going to cost him his spot in the side)
Stengle to be upgraded and played and Bolton as well. After today's game we need more run and carry.

Agree
Agree
I've defended Houli in the past
But today cannot defend the indefensible
Pulled out of 2 contests at crucial times in the last qtr when the game was on the line
Lost me today
And I think we played more than one short today, reckon we 3-4 short today

Yep saw them, did you also see him run into Macca on the wing instead of going the block he just ran into his own player thankfully Macca just got it away but still further evidence of mr panic merchant. Great bloke but he gets the jitters in big game moments, will never be a player that stands up in finals, can confidently say that for half a dozen blokes in our side.
Elton, Ellis, markov and batch, gee we make it hard on ourselves

Houli lost me last time we lost to Freo, seems to save his worst moments for these games.

Bo & Mrakov calling for Hunt to come back in on another board....and they're actually serious....
-
:facepalm
-
Rather play Hunt than Markov at the moment
-
We need to get Bolton into this side and Soldo/Nank can ruck and rest forward. So
Out: Elton and Batchelor (play Markov in his role)
In: Soldo and Bolton
-
Interesting people who relentlessly can Hampson
Hopefully saw the value of a good tap ruckman in the final hit out
Nankervis can't do it alone
Toby been a great pick up and has been fantastic
Tiges will better when they can play two ruckman and they alternate inside F50
Elton isn't the answer
-
I'd also like to see Moore in the side as he swings both ways....

Elton is a non competitor, his efforts (or lack thereof) are embarrassing. We got zero reward for our inside 50's in the first half yesterday because of his non competitiveness.
Soldo in the ruck and Nank as CHF / switch ruck would have been a better option yesterday. At least Nank would've given a contest and provide a chance to capitalize on our i50's

Yes thered be alot of value in Hampson probably losing the tap out to Sandilands and then spectating the same result from down on his haunches.

tap ruckmen are overrated - Soldo got about 40 hitouts in the first qtr against the digs, keep hearing he hit 3-4 to advntage - I also saw Bont shark 3 or 4 of them on his own too - are those stats counted anywhere? Rubbish part of the game and doesnt excuse the midfield and defensive setup on that play

The Barometer - Round 9
Herald-Sun
15 May 2017
RICHMOND
ON THE BLOCK: Key forward Todd Elton had six disposals, three marks and two behinds against the Dockers and is yet to kick a goal from five matches this season. Corey Ellis (12 disposals) also had little impact against Fremantle and was the only Richmond player to not lay a tackle.
ON THE CUSP: The Tigers said last week Dion Prestia was not far away but the exact extent of his ‘minor’ hamstring soreness remains a little bit of a mystery after two weeks on the sidelines. Taylor Hunt and Connor Menadue were among the Tigers’ best in a VFL loss to Box Hill on Sunday while the club’s first selection in last year’s draft, Shai Bolton, is also pushing his case for an AFL debut.
CHRIS CAVANAGH’S FORECAST: Damien Hardwick flagged changes after Richmond’s third-straight loss to Fremantle on Sunday but a growing injury list is testing depth. The Tigers need to somehow rediscover their form and belief of the opening five rounds though — and quickly — if they want to keep themselves firmly in the finals race. A loss to Greater Western Sydney this weekend would leave them 5-4 and then there is Essendon and North Melbourne to come before a Round 12 bye.

Swing the axe and target as many of the weak soft pricks as possible.
out Elton in Chol
Out Batchelor in Moore
Out B Ellis in Prestia
Out C Ellis In Miles
Out Houli in Lloyd
WOuld go something like this
FB/ Short - Astbury - Grimes
HB/ McIntosh - Rance - Castagna/Markov.Lean towards Castagna not there for his kicking but what he could bring as a shut down small defender who will take the game on when opportunity arises.
R/ Nankervis - Cotchin - Prestia
C/ Grigg - Martin - Lambert
HF/ Butler - Riewoldt - Lloyd or Lennon only one of them prefer Lloyd at this stage.
FF/ Chol - Moore - Rioli.
INT/ Caddy - Miles - Edwards -
-

You miss his bone crunching tackles, excellent spoils and general organising around the ground?
Interesting people who relentlessly can Hampson
Hopefully saw the value of a good tap ruckman in the final hit out
Funny what I took out of the final hit out was that Toby let us down with his follow up effort, something he has been great at and Hampson has always failed to do

RICHMOND
After an extra week of recovery with hamstring soreness, recruit Dion Prestia is expected to return against Greater Western Sydney on Saturday to bolster a flagging midfield.
Coach Damien Hardwick forecast changes after an 0-3 run and there should be multiple moves following a lacklustre three quarters against Fremantle.
In line for promotion from the VFL are midfielder Anthony Miles (29 possessions) and forward Sam Lloyd (three goals), while half-forward Ben Lennon is available after being held over as a senior emergency last week.
Jacob Townsend returned impressively from an eye injury and could be called on for his first senior game this season.

Strong word im hearing from sauce is Shai will debut ;)
Not quite a lock just yet but apparently a likelihood.
-
ud have to say if we had a tall or any talls Elton would have been shipped out 3 weeks ago or wouldn't have gotten a game in saying that I think lennon will come in to add a bit of height
IN: DION, LENNON, BOLTON
OUT: BUTTLER GEROGE, SHORT

We must continue to play Butler and Castagna, these boys are young and inexperienced but have shown they can tango at this level. They absolutely need as much game time as they can get and we can give them, of course their going to be yo yo's for a while but we MUST get the development into them now so next year and the year after we will see some real consistency and results. We need to stay the course with these boys they HAVE shown they can play at this level. Don't kill it before it blossoms.

Dropping them doesn't mean delisting them...
What about rewarding Bolton? Maybe he can "tango" even better?

At least one change
Butler out, Prestia in.
Hardwick says there will be more. There better be.

Then drop somebody else, somebody who's played plenty and shown nothing instead of someone whos played eight and shown plenty, I'm sure there are others you can find.
It's moot now anyway, Butler is injured and will not play.

RICHMOND has suffered a fresh injury concern, with small forward Dan Butler ruled out of Saturday's clash against Greater Western Sydney with a groin injury.
The Tigers are set to be boosted by the return of midfielder Dion Prestia, who has missed two matches with hamstring soreness, but coach Damien Hardwick forecast more than just one change.
The coach was hopeful Butler, who has been a key player in the Tigers' small and quick forward line, would miss just one match.
"We've got to reward some guys at VFL level, so there'll probably be more than one change," Hardwick said on Thursday.
"Young Dan Butler's got a groin complaint, so he'll miss this week.
"There were a couple of disappointing performances and we've got to reward some guys at VFL level."
Half-forward Sam Lloyd shapes as a likely replacement for Butler after an impressive run in the VFL, while midfielders Anthony Miles and Jacob Townsend and half-forward Ben Lennon have pushed strong cases.
