Interesting bookmakers opened the odds for next week
Tigers opened up $1.90 15 minutes ago
Straight into $1.70

Geez, I hate us always dishing up our annual shocker against North who treat the game as their GF each year (before they lose the following week) :banghead. It also usually coincides now with Waite's annual one good game for the season ::).
I'm surprised we're favourites with the bookies based on North owning us in recent times :scream. Just 2 wins from the past 10 meetings and that includes the Round 23 game where they rested half their best 22. Us last 'real' win over them was way back in 2011 when a teenage Dusty had his first breakout game with 33 possies and kicked 4 goals as we came from behind to overrun North in the last quarter.
The other thing that ticks me off is it's always their 'home' game every year now days ::). Aside from the EF, the last time we played North in a H/A game at the 'G was 5 years ago when we lost by just 4 points with an ump pulling out a shocking deliberately rushed behind call against us (against Luke McGuane IIRC). Some things never change!
I don't care how we do it or by how much - just win!
-
I should just save a copy of what I post every time we play this mob, they own us we are their biatches.
Time to end this crap! :banghead
-
Whos gunna die get blown up retire milestone this week :scream
-
Taking out the shoulda , woulda , coulda 3 games lost by under a goal - 7-4 is a decent reward for what has been an exciting season so far by the Tigers .
Hopefully Dimmas template will be too good for a Kangaroo side who have also muffed a few opportunities this season.
-
Heard Mcdonald being interviewed on sen the other day and his voice perked up when they mentioned why they seem to have the wood on us. He said something along the lines of "yeah we do, no doubt they have some fantastic players but for whatever reason we feel we have their measure and can beat them"
Tell us what you really think pal :o
These guys just dont rate us, stuff I want us to rub their smug faces in it on saturday. Also heard Ralphy say I know for a fact that Brad Scott has never rated richmonds style of play.
-
Whos gunna die get blown up retire milestone this week :scream
^^This.
If I was a gambling man I'd love the Rich North Line up. Easiest bet of the year, and this time you get to double your money, North at 2.15 is money for jam.
-
At least there is no Harvey or Petrie. Those two always seemed to lift against us.

Go the 2.40 option for under 6 goals and drop a fat pineapple on it

North are one of those teams like Geelong who play numbers behind the ball an extra's in defence where we simply cannot score enough goals to win the game.
This is where we need to change our game plan up slightly as we are so predictable that these teams can plan down to the last inch on how to play us.
Blake Caracella even said this directly at a coahing session I went to when he was at GFC and showed vision on how we play and how we never adapted.
Watch Hansen and Thomson take mark after mark playing loose in defence if we don't run the ball in and kick running goals.
-
They beat us because they work harder than us. Always have!
I watched them against Melbourne a couple of weeks back at the G and they really do run hard both ways. I'd say we would have a decent chance of beating them if we were playing the type of footy we were in the first 5 weeks but unfortunately we seemed to have relaxed and gone back to a few old habits of slow footy and short little handballs to stationary players.
Add to that we play 2,3,4,5 short in games like this when real effort is required. No need to mention them again because I reckon most are on board with who they are now, regardless of if they have a decent game occasionally against an average side.
Our best 5 or 6 kill their best 5 or 6 but their last 5 kill ours every time.
And we play straight into their hands of bombing long into our forwardline to their lose backman, then they run and spread through the middle of the ground to kick easy goals.

Match preview: North Melbourne v Richmond
afl.com.au
31 May 2017
SUMMARY
The game's two best key defenders – Robbie Tarrant and Alex Rance – will have crucial roles at either end as the Kangaroos and Tigers lock horns in a season-defining clash for each team. Richmond shook its late-match woes against Essendon on Saturday night to snap a four-match losing slide. But the Tigers will also need to end their North Melbourne hoodoo, which includes seven losses in eight outings, to continue their top-four push. The Roos' ability to at least break even with Richmond through the midfield will be critical to their chances. Dustin Martin – a North recruiting target – Trent Cotchin and Brandon Ellis were pivotal in the victory over the Bombers. Ben Cunnington had a big last quarter to will North across the line against Carlton, but was otherwise quiet. Whichever Cunnington turns up, Shaun Higgins and captain Jack Ziebell will need to maintain their good form.
WHERE AND WHEN: Etihad Stadium, Saturday, June 3, 7.25pm AEST
LAST FIVE TIMES
R11, 2016, North Melbourne 18.16 (124) d Richmond 7.12 (54) at Blundstone Arena
1EF, 2015, North Melbourne 15.15 (105) d Richmond 14.4 (88) at the MCG
R23, 2015, Richmond 16.12 (108) d North Melbourne 10.7 (67) at Etihad Stadium
R6, 2015, North Melbourne 16.13 (109) d Richmond 10.14 (74) at Blundstone Arena
R12, 2014, North Melbourne 17.14 (116) d Richmond 13.10 (88) at Etihad Stadium
THE SIX POINTS
1. Twenty-five points separated the sides at half-time when they met in 2016, but the Kangaroos kicked 11 goals to four in the second half to run away with the contest. North dominated the inside 50s (72-41) despite losing the clearances (35-43).
2. The Tigers' defence has been one of the stingiest in 2017, ranked third for conceding only 81 points per game. The Roos are one of the highest-scoring sides this season, ranked sixth with 96 points per match.
3. North has won seven of its last eight matches against Richmond, including two victories by more than 60 points. The Tigers' last victory was in round 23, 2015.
4. The Tigers have been prolific this season in taking the ball inside 50, ranking third with an average of 57.7 per game, ahead of the Kangaroos in equal eighth with an average of 54.4.
5. Heavily in North Melbourne’s favour is its record against Richmond at Etihad Stadium, winning eight games to four, including three of the last four.
6. The Year of Dusty continues, with Richmond superstar Dustin Martin breaking into the Schick AFL Player Ratings top 10 for the first time, courtesy of his best-on-ground display in the Dreamtime at the 'G match on Saturday night.
IT'S A BIG WEEK FOR … Jarrad Waite and Ben Brown
The Roos' tall-forward pairing have each had great individual displays throughout the season, but if they can fire collectively it will force Richmond star Alex Rance to adopt a more defensive mindset. There is no reason Waite and Brown can't successfully co-exist, given their contrasting skillsets and styles.
PREDICTION: Richmond by 8 points

To tag or not to tag? Roos mull over Dusty plans
afl.com.au
1 June 2017
NORTH Melbourne is still considering whether to tag Richmond star Dustin Martin this Saturday night, but has ruled out recalling Ben Jacobs for this vital role after the run-with midfielder suffered a minor injury setback.
Martin has been one of the competition's most damaging midfielders this season, averaging 29 possessions a game – half of them contested – over the first 10 rounds, and kicking 14 goals.
Just to add extra spice to Saturday night's contest at Etihad Stadium, North is making a massive play for the restricted free agent, with a long-term offer worth more than $1 million a season believed to be on the table for Martin.
North coach Brad Scott told reporters on Thursday every player could be "restricted to some level" by a tag, but said Martin would be a "very difficult" assignment for one player.
"(Tagging Martin) is an option. We're still weighing all those things up to be honest," Scott said.
"Dusty has been in exceptional form this year, that's clear for all to see, but I think the addition of (Josh) Caddy and (Dion) Prestia has given their midfield more depth and versatility.
"So we'll just have to weigh all those things up and probably assess it in game as well."
North will enter Saturday night's game having won seven of its past eight games against the Tigers, the Kangaroos' one loss during that stretch coming in round 23, 2015, when they controversially rested nine players ahead of the finals.
Richmond bolstered its list over the off-season with experienced recruits Prestia (Gold Coast) and Caddy (Geelong), and after 10 rounds sits fifth on the ladder with a 6-4 record.
Scott said the Tigers had also changed their game style "pretty significantly" this year, ensuring North's recent dominance would not count for much.
"To their credit, they've looked at ways to get better and clearly they have got better. Prior records are probably more for supporters to talk about than for coaches," he said.
"They're two very different teams this year, so we're looking forward to the challenge."

This! We always play into the hands of their sucker punch counterattack gameplan. Not to mention the likes of Waite kick their one and only bag for the season against us.
It would be better if we sit back and not allow them an open F50 all night then hit them on the counter. As I posted in the selection thread, we've picked a side more suited to quick counterattack over the top and out the back on the rebound.

Awesome kick by Dusty opened up North.
Great intercept mark by Jack. Finds Butler at 50. Touched on the line.

Butler indecisive and stuffs it up. But it goes in again and hands to Lambert whose long snap hits the post.

Jeez :(
-
Two schoolboy mistakes in defence (Rance's kick smothered when we would've been out and Grimes fumbling the ball over the line when he was clear). Lucky North only get a point from them.
Another turnover from us :banghead and we gift them a set shot goal :banghead.

Get lost ump.

Free + 50 = another gift ::).
Ticks me off we dish up this dumb crap against the Roos :banghead.
-
Nice one ump. Disgraceful
-
Instead of us with a dangerous inside 50 its taken away from us and gifts them a goal....
-
Once again we get first possession and then cough it up :banghead. Lucky they miss.
2 - 15
-
Dumb Lloyd.

Actually got them on transition. Houli finds Jack 40m out. Misses.

North drop a sitter inside their F50 and we rebound all the way for a goal.
Had a chance in the last 30 secs to get another but Prestia tries to banana it and misses.
Quarter time
Richmond 3.4-22
North Melb. 2.4-16
-
North get the first of the second qtr via some dumb defending.

Cotch out of the middle (pushed in the back too ::) ) and it finds Jack on the lead 45m out. Misses to the right.
Rich 23
NM 22

Prestia from the boundary tries to scoot one through low but misses.

Houli to Macca to Prestia hits up Georgie 50m out. He kicks to the hot spot and Cotch on his left misses from a tight angle (still gettable as he had time).
31 - 22
-
Coast to coast goal for them :banghead after a free against Jack.
31 - 28
-
Back to dumb dumb footy :scream.
-
Free against Jack was likely a 12 point turn around. Stuffing Gift!
-
North arse another one after some sloppy play from us.
We should be 4 goals up here.
-
Settle down Jack.
Three missed targets (McIntosh missed kick) with a last a shocking handball by Grigg at HF opens us up and North get a goal :banghead
-
We get the turnover at 50 but stuff it up. Butler blind snap misses.
32 - 34
-
Umpires are actually murdering us. HOW was that play on for Rioli??
-
A message to our mids. Your teammates inside F50 wear Y&B. We're playing into their hands of their defence with these bombs.
Bolton snap from the pack 40m out goes to the sqaure where it's punched through.
Poor kick-in by North intercepted by Ellis 30m out. Goal (just) :gotigers.
Back in front.
Rich 39
NM 34
-
You don't block your teammates running onto the ball, Titch. Cotch had done the hard stuff.
-
It's russian roulette from the umps tonight with holding the ball. That was holding the ball against Thompson.
-
We had many chances to go forward yet continually stuffed it up with missed targets (Menadue handball & Houli's kick) :banghead.
Gift them the lead :banghead
39 - 40
-
Poor Dusty.
Can we cut out the over-possession with handball ::)
-
Keep bomming it in their boys.
well done dikheads
-
Non-decision with Higgins holding the ball costs us another. Umpires have literally given them 4-5 goals worth tonight.
-
Again they rebound goal from our backline after a poor kick forward by us :banghead. Playing into their bloody hands again with dumb footy :banghead.
39 - 46
-
Here we go. Another goal to us is reviewed ::).

It's a goal to Butler. Well played by Lloyd against two defenders gets it into the goalsquare where Butler kicks it through.

How many times have we got first hands in the middle and coughed it via schoolboy fumbling :scream.
-
Cotchin needs to assert himself here. Been good in flashes but need more consistency,
-
Another missed chance (Butler drops a sitter) :P.
-
Great defensive spoil by Rance turns defence into attack.
Caddy's bomb from 50 is punched through. Scores level.
46 - 46
-
Watch Waite slot this....
-
Where's the defence on transition, Tiges? :banghead.
Lucky they missed on the siren.
3.6 for the qtr to their 5.2. Our inaccuracy costing us again.

Menadue as well.
Umpires are f$&ked!

The free kick for holding on Tarrant was genuine bull plop. We were in a red hot position to kick 6 points. They rushed it up the other end with the free kick and goaled.

Well folks strap yourself in because this is going to be a standard Richmondy finish. Started seeing the signs late in that quarter by getting too cute and missing sitters. Should be at least 8 goals up.
-
They are 'dead on their feet'....play on and handball...where's Ronald Dale when you need him?!
-
A Grigg classic tonight.
Plenty of touches and plenty of putrid efforts.
-
We should be further in front but you'd take a 6 goals to one quarter any day. Need to keep the pressure up.

Yep, North are dreaming. Why would he leave to go to a club that's completely out of contention and needing to rebuild.

Great win, Nanks looked pretty stuffed, needs some support.

What did people think of Prestia tonight?
I thought pregame that we should have rested him to give him a couple of weeks to get over what I presume is knee soreness.
But I thought he was good tonight.
Best game for us so far.

Agree re Prestia, is fantastic inside, good hands, runs hard but kicking is heart in mouth stuff. Good to see him have a strong game.
Loved Maccas run and his overall game. Of our lesser lights, Lambert, Ellis, Caddy, Edwards all very good. Obviously Dusty was boss, Cotch and Rance brilliant?
Good team effort today with no passengers except maybe Lloyd who I didn't feel got into the game much at all.
Lloyd out, Chol in

Just read a stat that Dusty gained 243m in the third qtr.

Bachar was fantastic to credit were credit due.

Yep agreed. Especially in the first half when the game was there to be won.
-
Okay.
First things first. Great win, we were too good:
Horrible standard, both teams reminded me of kids sport where partipation is valued over results.
Loved Dusty, put a fiddy on him for the Brownlow.
Ellis has backed up again with a solid game.
We are lucky that Cotch, Nank (after HT), Prestia and k mac chose tonight to turn it on. They were great.
This (7/4) is a great position to be in.
The next month will define our year.
Eat 'em alive boys :gotigers

Good win. It's enjoyable to see the Tigers beat North.
If this club stuffs up the Dusty deal they can get stuffed.
-
Umpires are actually murdering us. HOW was that play on for Rioli??
This. Looked like he was pushed by a North player and they call play on?
BTW guys, Houli gif coming over the next (hopefully) 24 hours

Well folks strap yourself in because this is going to be a standard Richmondy finish. Started seeing the signs late in that quarter by getting too cute and missing sitters. Should be at least 8 goals up.
Brilliant call...oh wait

Deserves what it got, any reference to a Wil Anderson joke deserves trashing.

Actually thought the Roos blew their chances on a couple of occasions. Another goal or two in the last and our guys would have well and truly got the jitters but luckily they made as many clangers as we did. Good win in the end but we just have to learn to be a bit more clinical with our execution to finish these sides off much earlier in games.

Never going to lose after that burst in the 3rd qtr. People seem to forget we cam from BEHIND against WCE, Demons and Magpies earlier this year. Kangas in that class, nowhere near Bulldogs or GWS...
-
Kangaroos are fast starters the fact we kept with them in the first quarter critical. Third quarter was very good but we could have won by a much greater margin if we had been kicking straight. Tackling a standout.
-
Best win of the year .

What did people think of Prestia tonight?
I thought pregame that we should have rested him to give him a couple of weeks to get over what I presume is knee soreness.
But I thought he was good tonight.
Best game for us so far.
Had Dion next best for us after Dusty.
Agree. Really impressed by his game. His vision was very good and did some very clever things including the underground handpass.

I really liked that passage of play early in the second quarter where he ran inside 50 but was tight against the boundary. He only just missed kicking a goal.
But as Richo called it in the game commentary. Prestia, although he had the shot and missed, it was clear that he had had a good look inside and sized up his options while belting in towards goal.
When they showed a replay, you could just see him looking at his options and making a decision. As Richo said, so many players in that situation either kick to the top of the square and hope, or blaze away and miss a teammate standing on their own 20m out from goal dead in front.
What struck me was how much time he seemed to have. I think the really good always seem to have that time, no matter what pressure they are under.
-
I thought it was an ordinary game. Fumbles, turnovers, mis kicks/handballs/marks.
We were given momentum on a platter in that 3rd term with 3 50 metre penalties and took our chances over the first 15 minutes in that quarter.
We have played better in each game apart from Adelaide, Freo and maybe Brisbane.
Having said that, I loved every minute watching their supporters tortured, pained faces as we gradually overwhelmed the caravan gypsies and consigned their season to dust.

Nah he knows them just not the type of guy to belt it out

I was at a north game years ago on a friday at the g where we kicked like 10 goals in the first quarter, game over, that was great, so was this game, loved it all, plus i think Cotch was fantastic. Prestia, the little hamster, is freeing him up.

Outstanding summation :clapping

North had won 4 out of 5
North like us have lost 3 games by under a kick .
North beat Adelaide by 10 goals plus.
North had won 7 of the past 8 against Richmond and even that victory was dubious.
This was a very good win for us - four quarter effort . What more could you want .

"What more could we want"
Good wins tend to happen for most clubs in most seasons.
Hows about a season where dont capitulate, or make finals and not capitulate. Or dare i say it, hows about a flag once in 40 odd years?

Yep spot on i was there. I got there half way through the first due to traffic jams.
-
Was a great night. Lots of laughing clown mouths in that first 10 minutes when we piled on 8 unanswered goals.
Might happen in the next month if we can get our poo together

Lol - North rebuilding. Still on average a year older plus a combined 150 games more experience.
