Not sure where we get it from, but I think Nank is definitely going to need help against the Swans.

The Barometer - Round 12/Bye
Herald-Sun
5 June 2017

RICHMOND

ON THE BLOCK: A clean bill of health from the win against North Melbourne heading into the bye. Shai Bolton and Jason Castagna didn’t get a lot of the footy but both contributed to the Tigers’ manic forward pressure. The only worry is from the VFL with injuries to Todd Elton and Ivan Soldo. Elton’s is more serious with a decision to be made this week about possible shoulder surgery.

ON THE CUSP:
Ben Lennon keeps knocking on the door, kicking another four goals in Richmond’s five-point loss to Werribee. Is it time to give him another chance at the top level? The issue is the match committee seems to have decided they can’t play he and Sam Lloyd in the same team. Anthony Miles and Corey Ellis also starred in the VFL. Nick Vlastuin will be monitored closely after missing a month.

AL PATON’S FORECAST:
The Tigers could have been 10-1 or 9-2, but 7-4 is still a very good place to be in a season when no one tipped them to play finals. Richmond is playing a strong brand built on a huge spike in pressure and tackling, and a rock solid defence led by Alex Rance and big improver David Astbury. Add Dusty and it’s a pretty good recipe. After a week’s rest the Tigers return with games against Sydney and Carlton at the MCG and a chance to set up a serious tilt at September.

Lennon or Chol for Lloyd. Vlastuin has missed too much footy to come straight in, give him a run in the twos. Wouldnt make any other changes.

Of the young players who have been quietish, Bolton needs to keep playing so too castagna and Rioli as their pressure acts are very very good, all have incredible pace which contributes to our press. Menadue hasnt had huge numbers either but the last 2 weeks he's had an impact on the game, is starting to break some lines with his run and carry, reckon he's gained a bit of self belief that he can play at this level. Dont feel anyone else deserves to be dropped.

Wouldn't mind if we kept the small forward line for the Swans game to be honest
No Changes for me

Nice to know Lennon, Miles and Ellis are doing well in the VFL. Vlastuin to come back from injury.

List starting to look like it has a little depth.

RICHMOND

ON THE BLOCK: After the week off, the Tigers could go into Saturday’s clash against Sydney with an unchanged line-up. Shai Bolton and Jason Castagna didn’t touch the ball a lot in the win against North Melbourne but their forward pressure is hard to ignore.

ON THE CUSP: The VFL team also rested up but Anthony Miles starred the previous week 34 disposals and is getting leather poisoning the seconds. Ben Lennon’s four goals continues to put the pressure on selectors. Nick Vlaustin is ready to return from a shoulder injury.

CHRIS VERNUCCIO’S FORECAST: The fourth-placed Tigers received a bonus after Port Adelaide’s shock loss to Essendon. Big game against Sydney on Saturday. If they’re the real deal, they win, and kill off the Swans’ finals hopes in the process.

In the mix: Who's a chance for round 13 selection?

RICHMOND

Half-forward Ben Lennon has kicked 14 goals in his past five VFL games and deserves an opportunity in a forward line that has been dangerous but lacks marking power. The 21-year-old has been in the frame for a number of weeks and is a strong overhead mark for a medium-sized player.

The Tigers' other option in attack is to recall Ivan Soldo who offers ruck support but has gone goalless in his two senior games.

Nick Vlastuin is expected to be fit after four matches sidelined with a shoulder injury.

The Tigers had a bye in the VFL, but Corey Ellis (30 possessions and a goal), Anthony Miles (34), Oleg Markov (26) were all strong performers in their most recent hit-outs at state-league level.

I don't see us making any changes tonight. If we had a decent KPF/2nd ruck to bring in we would with the Swans playing two rucks but we don't. Dry day expected on Saturday so you'd expect Dimma and co. to stick to speed as the winning formula and try to expose the Swans older mids especially on the expanses of the MCG.

Lloyd is a very lucky man - not only hasnt had an impact last 3 weeks, but workrate has been questionable at best. Lennon stiff and perhaps verifies the rumour that the coaches have told him he is not suited to our style of game and therefore wont get a run.

Yes - actually takes marks, has good disposal and kicks straight - clearly doesn't suit the gameplan....

Would find it extraordinary, even by our club's idiotic standards, if our coaches actually told a young player that with half a season still to go....

Lennon should be in Loyld  been poor last 3 games effort and also selfish play at times .I wanted him in but gave us nothing .He has been performing at vfl Lennon so need to reward him.

Sore Dusty to be given until final minute

HOLD your breath, Richmond fans.

Dustin Martin was seen leaving the training track early on Thursday, fuelling speculation he could be in some doubt for Saturday’s clash against Sydney.

While that is long odds, back issues aren’t ideal.

Martin is set to be tagged by Swan George Hewett, who helped shut-out Bulldogs star Jason Johanissen last week.

Aiming for a top-four finish, the Tigers need “Dusty” at 100 per cent against a Sydney team who stormed back into finals contention with the big win over the Bulldogs.

Interesting that Sydney go into this game with less talls than us just 5 . They have named just one tall defender in Grundy so i wonder if it would be worthwhile playing someone like McIntosh fwd.

In saying that we would still be the shorter team overall  with half the team being short players, Prestia, Edwards, Rioli, Butler, B Ellis, Houli, Castagna, Lambert, Short,Bolton, Lloyd.

Play Dusty one out in the goal square for long periods and see if this little minnow tags him then.
