Dare I say it......must win game!
-
Would love to see a scoreline the has Richmond kicking 18.10 instead of 10.18
-
Prestia See YA
-
Reckon we are going to get pantsed, yet if we manage to somehow pull it off then that will be huge.
-
Yeah I sense a pantsing coming on
-
For whatever reason I'm feeling a little confident. I can't imagine why, I've tipped against us 80% of the matches....
-
Reckon we are going to get pantsed, yet if we manage to somehow pull it off then that will be huge.
Port are a good price at 1.33. :shh...
-
There's a bit of flat track bully about Port this season.
They have destroyed mediocre teams ....failed against anyone good.
Lost to West Coast at home .
If we do win it's all aboard the Tiger train .
-
12 point game
-
I reckon we are a show.
Read an article in regards to Lade saying he will have some inside knowledge.
Perhaps so but that's old IP that he took with him.

Brendon Lade’s knowledge of Richmond players gives Port Adelaide an edge
Michelangelo Rucci,
The Advertiser
26 June 2017
PORT Adelaide assistant coach Brendon Lade admits his memory of the Richmond playbook – after seven years at Punt Road – is not worth much this week, but his knowledge of the Tigers’ players is vital.
Fourth-ranked Port Adelaide hosts sixth-placed Richmond at Adelaide Oval on Saturday night in a virtual play-off for the right to be considered the genuine top-four contender behind Greater Western Sydney, Adelaide and Geelong.
Lade’s insight on the Tigers will be considered a valued edge in a game that could give Port Adelaide its first top-eight scalp this season.
“They (Richmond) have changed a fair bit from last year, obviously,” Lade said of the refit of assistant coaches around Richmond coach Damien Hardwick and the new style of play for the Tigers.
“But (I have) a lot of player intel – and hopefully we can use that to upset a few and get a result we are after.
“They have new ideas, new coaches. They have rediscovered a bit of pressure – they have a forward line with four small forwards who put a lot of pressure on. Our forward line and their forward line are No. 1 and 2 for tackles inside-50, so there could be a lot of pressure at both ends of the ground this week.”

The more they focus on us and less on themselves then it's to their own detriment. If we play our style of game to our best, kick straight and play four quarters at that level we win. PA have been very inconsistent in comparison to us so it depends which PA team turns up.
The only worry for me is that we have been so consistent that we just could be due for an off week. Please don't be windy ;)

Brendan "look for another job but don't worry you can come back to this one" Lade

No Houli = No Richmond. :shh

Match preview: Port Adelaide v Richmond

28 June 2017
SUMMARY
It's weird to think a team sitting fourth on the ladder needs to prove itself as a premiership contender, but that's the case with Port Adelaide. The Power (8-5, 135.4 per cent) are starting to earn a reputation as stuff bullies having lost all four of their games against top-eight teams this season. That's why Saturday night's clash with the Tigers (sixth; 8-5, 111.7 per cent) is important. On the back of a dynamic five-goal performance from Robbie Gray, the Power cruised past Collingwood on the road last weekend. Consistency hasn't been the Power's strong suit – a win over the Tigers would be the first time they've won three in a row since round 20-23, 2015. The Tigers did just enough to dispose of Carlton last weekend. They've also won three out of their past four, but need a big scalp to continue their momentum.
WHERE AND WHEN: Adelaide Oval, Saturday, July 1, 7.10pm ACST
LAST FIVE TIMES
R15, 2016, Port Adelaide 14.10 (94) d Richmond 8.8 (56) at Adelaide Oval
R6, 2016, Port Adelaide 13.16 (94) d Richmond 8.11 (59) at the MCG
R8, 2015, Richmond 11.10 (76) d Port Adelaide 5.13 (43) at Adelaide Oval
1EF, 2014, Port Adelaide 20.12 (132) d Richmond 11.9 (75) at Adelaide Oval
R17, 2014, Richmond 19.12 (126) d Port Adelaide 16.10 (106) at Etihad Stadium
THE SIX POINTS
1. Richmond had more disposals (370 to 347), took more marks (87 to 56) and had 54 more uncontested possessions, but still lost to Port Adelaide the last time they met. The difference for the Power was their domination of the inside 50s (68 to 51) and clearances (52 to 33).
2. Both teams have been strong taking the ball inside 50 this season. The Power are ranked first with 61.1 per game and the Tigers are third at an average of 57.3.
3. The Power has held the upper hand on the Tigers, winning 17 games to 10, along with one draw. But since 2013, the ledger is even at three wins each.
4. This will be a contest between the two best defences this season. The Power are first, conceding only 77 points per game, just ahead of the Tigers, giving up an average of 78 points.
5. Richmond has already travelled to Adelaide Oval once this season, thrashed by the Crows in round six. Port Adelaide has won four of their six games at home in 2017.
6. Richmond superstar Dustin Martin has moved to a career-high seventh overall in the Schick AFL Player Ratings. However, Martin won't be the highest-ranked player on the ground – that honour belongs to Power midfielder, turned small forward, Robbie Gray, who is fifth.
IT'S A BIG WEEK FOR … Tom Jonas
The Power defender has been in superb form this season, whether it's shutting down a key forward or playing on midfielders resting in attack. He'll probably shadow Dustin Martin when he is lurking up forward, but will also be considered for the job on Tigers spearhead Jack Riewoldt.
PREDICTION: Richmond by eight points

Power and Tigers locked in testing battle for top-four status at Adelaide Oval
Michelangelo Rucci,
The Advertiser
30 June 2017
PORT Adelaide (fourth, 8-5) this season has not beaten a team in the AFL top eight.
By contrast, Richmond (sixth, 8-5) has beaten a side ranked above it – Melbourne (fifth, 8-5). And the Tigers have won against another top-eight team, West Coast (seventh, 7-6).
In this AFL season of erratic form lines – and last-minute thrillers, four of which have hurt Richmond – there will be that reflection at the end of the home-and-away season: “If only ...”
“It is what it is - we can’t do too much about it,” says Power coach Ken Hinkley of the commentary that comes with Port Adelaide’s status in their year’s race to September’s top-eight finals, in particular to a top-four finish for the first time since 2007.
There is plenty to be done in reshaping this repetitive tag slapped on the Power players on Saturday night at Adelaide Oval in a top-eight battle that does more than continue the musical chairs theme for AFL rankings this weekend.
Or will it?
Does Richmond’s scalp appease those who are eager for Port Adelaide to put a significant notch in its belt?
Or is there a reluctance to accept the value of a win against the Tigers, a team that - like Port Adelaide - has just one very bad result and many competitive battles this season?
And would Richmond get the credit is craves – and new merit as a top-four contender – by beating the Power at Adelaide Oval?
This is the 29th Port Adelaide-Richmond game in an AFL premiership race.
There is an extraordinary similarity in how the Power and Tigers have reached this match after accepting the need to change their playbook after failure last season.
In defence, Port Adelaide - with the new, young partnerships formed around Jack Hombsch, Tom Jonas and Tom Clurey – is the league’s meanest unit conceding just 77 points a match.
Dustin Martin of the Tigers avoids a tackle by Bryce Gibbs of the Blues. Picture: Getty Images
Richmond, with the sound tandem with key defenders Alex Rance and most-improved David Astbury, is No. 2 giving up 78 points.
In attack, Port Adelaide – with the main man being Charlie Dixon who leads the league in contested marks – is protecting its defence with league-best numbers for inside-50s.
Richmond – with its lone tower being Jack Riewoldt – is No. 3 for creating inside-50s ... and has Dustin Martin, the league’s most assertive player for taking the ball inside-50.
Like a fairytale, the Power and Tigers can stand face-to-face asking “who is the fairest of them all”.
The question is, how will the rest of the AFL react to the answer?
KEEP YOUR EYE ON
1. MATCH-UPS. Coaches will repeatedly say it is players who win matches. And the pundits will note it is the coaches who put the players in roles that decide games. Port Adelaide has some critical decisions on how to work its defence around a Richmond attack that has a “smalls” around key forward Jack Riewoldt. Deciding who stands Riewoldt - either the man for every challenge in Tom Jonas or the close-checking Tom Clurey - shall make for an interesting debate between senior coach Ken Hinkley and defence coach Nathan Bassett.
Charlie Dixon of the Power celebrates a goal against Collingwood Picture: GETTY IMAGES
2. STYLE. Richmond has changed up its playbook (as has Port Adelaide) after disappointing results last season when the Tigers ranked 13th. There certainly is no fear among the Tigers to back in their team-mates when they are facing one-on-one contests. Richmond leads the AFL for long kicks. Port Adelaide leads the league for contested marks (with key forward Charlie Dixon leading the AFL in this category). It is a duel for “brave” footballers.
3. DEFENCE. Port Adelaide ranks No.1, conceding just 77 points - a record in the club’s AFL journey. Richmond is at No. 2, giving up an average 78 points. Again, the match-ups are testing of the coaches. “Richmond are quite small in their front half so we’ve got to think about some of those options,” says Hinkley.
4. ATTACK. Solid defences at both clubs has been built on keeping the ball in the forward half. Port Adelaide is ranked No. 1 for inside-50s with an average 61.1 inside-50s. Richmond is No. 3 at an average of 57.3. One of these systems has to crumble. This makes the hit-out to advantage - and first use - theme with competing ruckmen Patrick Ryder (Power) and Toby Nankervis (Tigers) critical to the game’s script.
5. GRAY or MARTIN. Who has the greater influence on the match result - and scoreboard. Will it be Port Adelaide’s new master in attack, Robbie Gray? Will it be Richmond’s gamebreaking midfielder who slips forward, Dustin Martin? And who is tougher to shadow? It is the game within the game.
THE QUOTE
We can’t deny it (Port Adelaide has not beaten a top-eight team for its eight wins this season). It’s there. We’ll deal with it and get our opportunities.
WHO’S HOT
ROBBIE GRAY (Port Adelaide)
A whopping 146 SuperCoach points last week, well over his season average of 94 points a game.
WHO’S NOT
DION PRESTIA (Richmond)
Just 58 SuperCoach points for the midfielder last week and a season average of 78.

Hope he improves a lot in the last part of the year Francois. Derwood said that he has only started truing during the week in the last 2-3 weeks. Before that he was unable to as they had him on a some sort of program. I really think this years a bust for Dion. If he can get a full preseason in he might be like a new recruit next year. :snidegrin

one can hope. I held the same hope for conca and griffiths but it never came.

Port considering playing Wingard on Dusty and they want to avoid kicking it anywhere near Rance.
http://www.afl.com.au/news/2017-06-30/chad-to-dusty-wingards-learning-curve-continues
-
So they're not going to kick it inside their own 50m? Works for us :gotigers
-
Late change for Port I think. Hombsch out and Neade in (who always plays well against us).
-
You're right, YaBB.
LATE CHANGES
Port Adelaide: Jack Hombsch (knee) replaced in the selected side by Jake Neade
Richmond: Nil
FINAL INTERCHANGES
Port Adelaide: Sam Powell-Pepper, Jake Neade, Matthew Broadbent, Matt White
Richmond: Josh Caddy, Oleg Markov, Connor Menadue, Tyson Stengle
http://www.afl.com.au/news/2017-07-01/final-teams-super-saturday
-
Hombsch has been ok so that's handy for us.
-
True dwaino. He's a big out for Port.
Is Grimes okay?
-
Nice dive Dixon.
-
Dusty almost gets it from a standing start but it's rushed.
Rich 1
Port 0
-
8m pass and it's paid a mark to Port and then we cop a 50 as well ::) :banghead.
-
Umps wearing black, white & teal. Jack has to go one-arm for a mark b/c his other is held = no free ::).
-
Nank off after a poke in the eye. So we're ruckless at the minute.
1 - 1
-
LOL Gray.
This is a fast game.
1 - 2
-
Another free to Port gives them a shot. Misses.
No goals yet in 11 mins.
1 - 3
-
Grigg soccers to the goalsquare and it's a point to us.
2 - 3
-
Fumble fumble fumble.
-
Talk about making a meal out of it
-
Fumble fumble fumble.
And fumble
-
Menadue to Prestia inside 50. Caddy collects and finds Jack with a good mark. Goal :gotigers.
Rich 1.2-8
Port 0.3-3
17 mins Q1
-
Short to Ellis to Astbury. Inside 50. Jack to Rioli but it's paid a throw by the ump ::).
-
Schmitt, Ryan, Mollison are the umps tonight.
Goal to Port :scream.
Rich 8
Port 9
-
Lucky they are missing.
8 - 11
-
We just can't keep it inside our F50 to try and lock it in. It comes out as quick as it goes in.
-
Ricciuto really has nothing to say about us at all does he. Not good, not bad, every game of ours he commentates we're just not there.
-
Ellis up and under 20m out. Scramble. Ball-up 30m out. Port player slips but Titch misses.
9 - 11
-
Ricciuto really has nothing to say about us at all does he. Not good, not bad, every game of ours he commentates we're just not there.
Welcome to Adelaide :yep. No one else exists other than Crows and Port.
-
Cotchin again having his usual captains game against a top eight team. :clapping
His direct opponent has kicked a goal too. :rollin
-
Grigg-Castagna 1-2, to Lambert to Dusty but he bounces it through for a point.
Rich 1.4-10
Port 1.6-12
Our wonderful goalkicking on display again ::). Thankfully Port are missing theirs as well.
-
Quarter time
Richmond 1.4-10
Port Adel. 1.6-12
Goal: Riewoldt
-
Hate to talk about umpires so early but if I haven't seen at least three frees to us in marking contests that were missed then I must be dreaming. Goes up the other end and immediately they pay an iffy one against us. Can see this being a factor as the game wears on, can't beat them and the umps.
-
Positives: Well we're a lot closer than this time in that Elim final ;D.
Negatives: This pinball footy is favouring Port so far as we lack a CHF/2nd tall forward to contest and bring the ball down so our smalls can keep it inside our F50.
-
Bombing long to nobody isn't working, Titch.
-
Grigg couldn't hit Markov 15m away :facepalm. Would've been a shot at goal.
-
How many turnovers in a row by both sides?
We're wearing yellow with the black sash tonight, Tigers!
We finally hit targets and Lloyd has a set shot. Goal :gotigers.
Rich 2.4-16
Port 1.6-12
-
Their first inside 50 for the qtr and we give away a free and a freebie set shot :banghead.
Rich 16
Port 18
-
Another high free to them despite collapsing to the knees.
Frees: 4 - 9 ::)
Another goal to them.
16 - 24
-
Edwards to Menadue to Jack to Dusty (fends off). Finds Menadue to Lambert but he misses from 20m out :P.
17 - 24
-
That's crap! Ump changes his mind after seeing the scoreboard and gifts Port a mark ::).
Lucky they are missing shots again.
17 - 27
-
Grimes to Butler ... two bounces and side step = great goal :clapping :gotigers
Yes, we needed that.
Rich 3.5-23
Port 3.9-27
-
Dusty and Georgie along the boundary. It eventually gets to Lambert to grigg who spoons it up in the air. Markov snaps a point.
24 - 28
-
We need our captain to extract the digit and lead the team to victory. Currently MIA. :banghead
Who here reckons we will see a great Joel Selwood type captains win tonight? :rollin
-
Stengle good mark 45m out on a 45 degree angle. Out to the right and didn't make the distance. Lloyd tries to soccer it. Goal ump thinks it's a goal but it's reviewed. Paid a behind as they said it came off Westhoff's hand instead.
25 - 28
-
Another goal to them rebounding from our shallow half-forward line turnover :banghead.
And them another to them.
25 - 40
-
After kicking ten goals in the Tigers first six games this season, Daniel Rioli has scored just two majors in the seven games since. This quiet form is continuing tonight where he has just the one disposal despite playing 75 per cent game time.
http://www.afl.com.au/match-centre/2017/15/port-v-rich
-
Bad Port turnover but Dusty goes long and misses. Siren.
Half-time
Richmond 1.4 3.8-26
Port Adel. 1.6 5.11-41
Goals: Riewoldt, Butler, Lloyd.
You're not going to win games kicking 3 goals in a half of footy.
-
Rance and Dusty having shockers. Captain getting pantsed as usual.
Dimwit has no plan B for the 100th time in his career and Prestia is a complete stuffen bust!!!
-
Cotchin again having his usual captains game against a top eight team. :clapping
His direct opponent has kicked a goal too. :rollin
You're such a great supporter :bow
Love to have you in the trenches
-
No skill inside 50, very poor and Port much cleaner. Need to get less clever inside 50 and just kick goals, trying to 10 chain handpass into the goalsquare when a kick from 20 would do the job.
The coaches need stop the contested marking game and get it back on the ground. Would rather a kick was grubbered into 50 than the helicopter lobs we have been using so far.
-
Markov is not fit to carry the sports bag of Bachar Houli - at this moment in time .
-
Lloyd kicking to Jack who is against two when he has Cotchin running along inside. Not very smart :help We need to be smart not just kick it longgggggg!
-
Anyone see Grigg's attempt to tackle on the far wing in that last few minutes? Pathetic!
-
We're not going to win this match. Too many passengers and generally pretty dumb with decision making
-
Rance having a shocker but port have a plan and it's working a treat
And has only one seen Bellis?
-
Markov is not fit to carry the sports bag of Bachar Houli - at this moment in time .
Um he does not play like Houli. Ellis should be playing this role or Short. We do miss Houli though but Markov is looking ok thus far. Our mids need to lift and we need t use the ball better.
-
Anyone see Grigg's attempt to tackle on the far wing in that last few minutes? Pathetic!
That's his best tackle for the year too
-
Rance and Dusty having shockers. Captain getting pantsed as usual.
Dimwit has no plan B for the 100th time in his career and Prestia is a complete stuffen bust!!!
Prestia really? Almost our best player tonight!
-
Just 19 disposals between Jack and our 4 small forwards; We've also hand just TWO marks inside our F50; Then add another game of woeful goalkicking = Sums up our dysfunctional forward line tonight.
We're also getting smashed in contested footy. So our mids aren't doing their job either. Cotch and Caddy held to just 5 disposals each.
Possies:
Lambert 18
Dusty 17
Ellis 17
Prestia 14
Nank 12
Grigg 12
Astbury 11
Macca 11
Edwards 9
Menadue 9
Castagna 8
Short 8
Rance 7
Markov 6
Grimes 6
Cotch 5
Caddy 5
Jack 5
Stengle 4
Lloyd 4
Butler 3
Rioli 3
Total: 194 - 221
We're also handballing more than we're kicking (94k, 100h) which is 2016 crap.
Getting smashed in contested footy: 62 - 80 :help
Inside 50s: 29 - 30
Marks In50: 2 - 7
Clearances: 19 - 20 ( centre: 4 - 4)
Tackles: 37 - 30
Hitouts: 12 - 27 ..... Ryder is killing us.
Frees: 5 - 10 ::)
http://www.afl.com.au/match-centre/2017/15/port-v-rich
-
Rance is getting tired out trying to get to Dixon with trngeove blocking him and making him physically earn it for every metre. Just let it go and let Ashbury take him. Rance trying to do too much which is then allowing trengrove to look like a star.
Wtf has happened to dustys kicking at goal, looks unbalanced and rushed and is missing gimmes.
Grigg after a very good start to the season has reverted back to status quo, terrible.
Coach needs to extract the digit
-
What advice is cantshakeatag-Cotchin going to give Rance? And why the hell was he laughing?
Losing isn't funny captain! :bangheadCotchin again having his usual captains game against a top eight team. :clapping
His direct opponent has kicked a goal too. :rollin
You're such a great supporter :bow
Love to have you in the trenches
I keep it real. You like our captain playing poo? I don't give a crap what the name is, if a player is playing useless footy I'm going to say so especially if the player is a very good player and especially if the player is a Brownlow medalist and OUR captain.
Your backslapping isn't working and hasn't worked for 30 years.
-
Also Rioli needs a big second half or it's twos footy next week son. Stengel not quick, plying 2 not quick smells in him and Lloyd is hurting us
-
9 Tigers with less than 7 disposals to Port's 2. As TM said, we've got too many passengers.
-
Um he does not play like Houli. Ellis should be playing this role or Short. We do miss Houli though but Markov is looking ok thus far. Our mids need to lift and we need t use the ball better.
Where I am noticing that we're missing Houli is our kick ins, we've been crap at it tonight. Set up clearly not working
-

Very true, WP. Our kick-ins have been terrible. We've just given the ball back to Port at their HF line 90% of the time :help.
-
Butler to Lambert to Cotch. Chips to Lloyd on 50. Falls short. Jack was isolated with no teammates. Rushed.
27 - 42
-
Sling tackle on Dusty and no free?
-
What was lloyd doing leaping up with his hands down? :huh
-
Dusty lovely kick from HB to HF to Jack. Titch to attacking 50 and chips it to Cotch. Need a captain's goal? Goal :gotigers
Rich 4.9-33
Port 5.12-42
-
Said before say it again Lloyd is being gifted games.Cotch always against Port has shockers.Time for seniors players to lift.
-
Has Rance got no stops on tonight?
-
I would put Astbury on Dixion snd free up Rance make Trengrove accountable with Rance running it out.
-
Prestia with a dislocated finger.
-
Port are finding forward targets and we aren't. They should be 6-7 goals up.
-
Hartlett looks like he's hurt his shoulder.
Stengle inside 50 and Caddy marks on a tight angle. Good kick but it's a poster.
Rich 4.10-34
Port 5.14-44
-
We get it forward again and hold it in and then give away a free to relieve the pressure :banghead. Dumb dumb dumb!
-
I thought the game today at Windy Hill was atrocious
Diabolical :banghead
-
Goal to Robbie Gray
Think we can put a stuff in it
-
Jack scoops it off brilliantly to Cotch who finds Stengle. Goal :gotigers
Well done debutant :clapping.
Rich 5.10-40
Port 6.14-50
23 mins Q3
-
Nank to Titch to Rioli from 50 = Goal :gotigers
Rich 6.10-46
Port 6.14-50
-
Thinl we can but a stuff in it
Still needs more cooking, WP ;D
-
Nah my stuff has a tendency to change the course of a game :rollin
-
Georgie on the wing to Dusty and he put us IN FRONT! :gobdrop :gotigers
Rich 7.10-52
Port 6.14-50
-
Told ya :rollin
-
Tigers hit the front! Nice stuff WP ... ;D
-
Tigers hit the front! Nice stuff WP ... ;D
Trust me stuff folks
The stuff hasn't let me down this season :thumbsup
-
3/4 time
Richmond 1.4 3.8 7.10-52
Port Adel. 1.6 5.11 6.14-50
Goals: Riewoldt, Cotchin, Stengle, Butler, Lloyd, Rioli, Martin.
-
Really need Jack to stand up and kick a couple this quarter.
He's worked hard but his job is to kick goals and goals are want we need
-
Saw signs in that quarter that if we can string possessions together we can cut them open with pace. If we can execute the same in the last and Rance gets more release across back then we could win. The problem I have is home crowd and if Port score early we might just fall in a heap.
-
Big Nank lifted that quarter which nullified Ryder's influence. We lifted defensively across the ground too especially in the last 10 minutes of that qtr. Port weren't getting easy possessions from stoppages and off half-back.
Btw, we've received just 7 frees in 3 qtrs of footy ::).
-

:rollin :rollin
Should bring it out more often
3 from 3 is the stuff
-
Thought Menadue was important last qtr being running games out with his speed.
-
Final Score
Richmond 1.4 3.8 7.10 11.10-76
Port Adel. 1.6 5.11 6.14 8.15-63
Goals: Butler 3, Stengle 2, Riewoldt, Rioli, Lloyd, Cotchin, Martin, Short.
Makes a nice change to make an opposition pay for missing their chances earlier in the game. 8.2 to 3.4 after half-time is a comprehensive second-half by us. Pleasingly also we didn't go into our shells once we got the lead.
-
Best on ground - the stuff! :cheers
-
Great win Tigeritis. Gee, capt stood up in the second half. You look like a dumb ass
-
Thought Menadue was important last qtr being running games out with his speed.
Yep agreed. Played well.
Short was good too.
-
i have slagged off Mendaue a lot but I will concede he has been good in late and seeing him take a contested mark this game and providing good run and forward ball movement was great to see. Edwards had good hands this week also as per his 2015 form.
But boy oh boy do we need a 2nd KPF though
-
What advice is cantshakeatag-Cotchin going to give Rance? And why the hell was he laughing?
Losing isn't funny captain! :bangheadCotchin again having his usual captains game against a top eight team. :clapping
His direct opponent has kicked a goal too. :rollin
You're such a great supporter :bow
Love to have you in the trenches
I keep it real. You like our captain playing poo? I don't give a crap what the name is, if a player is playing useless footy I'm going to say so especially if the player is a very good player and especially if the player is a Brownlow medalist and OUR captain.
Your backslapping isn't working and hasn't worked for 30 years.

Brilliant final qtr.
-
That's the win we've been waiting for.
-
Great win, if only we had another mobile tall forward I think that would just make our forward line so much more dangerous. Also won without Cotch having a major influence and some seriously shocking disposals and decision making at times, plenty of room for improvement.
-
Lambert was very good again tonight.
Putting together a very good year.

Yep thought he was in our best 3
Especially in the first half when so many were MIA

Menadue coming along nicely.

Slags off his team as cowards and yet doesn't have the balls the show up himself when he is seen to be a clear losa

Can play and is showing it :clapping

I clearly was bagging the captain that played terribly. I stand by my comments.
Luckily, unlike our captain, other players stood up. Rance again showed why he should be captain. Lambert had his best game. Menadue was very good and Dusty is a star.
Great win by the boys.
-
Jayden short playing v well... under the radar IMO
-
Great win Tigeritis. Gee, capt stood up in the second half. You look like a dumb ass
No he didn't. Very poor game by him. I expect much more from an elite player.
-
Boak was equally as good as our captain ... ::)
-
Boak was equally as good as our captain ... ::)
Who cares? I wouldn't expect much more from Boak who isnt a Richmond captain nor a Brownlow medalist.
-
I love being wrong, we were solid from the start but they were just shading us, making too many errors just didn't look like winners. Then with about 10 mins to go in the 3rd we just started out working them and ran all over them. Was a brilliantly gutsy win.
Nank stood up and was huge in the 2nd half.
Rance stopped worrying about Dixon and once he settled took trengrove to the cleaners and was hugely influential.
Dusty is a star nuff said
Butler was clinical and clean and kicked 3.
Grimes has stopped fumbling the past 2-3 weeks and boy o boy he will be regarded as elite if he keeps this up.
Lambert, I just love what this bloke is bringing to the table. Got a soft spot for him as he used to play at my next door neighbours cricket club before he joined the tigs. Great bloke with a massive Thirst to succeed.
Menadue, 4 out of the last 5 games have been his best, this was his most influential yet. Looks like a kid that has just realised he can do some damage at this level.

Great young player and how good was that left foot long bomb to finish those imposters :bow
-
Short's goal was fantastic. I love it when the defenders can snag one as they often get underappreciated

Cotchins first half was woeful
But his 2nd half was very good
I get you don't rate him as a captain and hell I am on record as whacking his poor leadership over the years but credit where it is due.
He improved out of sight in the 2nd half. His inside contested work helped get us back in the game
Take the anti Cotchin goggles off for a minute and you might care to acknowledge it
-
Yep
It's not just about numbers, it's all about impact and influence, cotch did both in bucketloads in the second half
-
He was big around stoppages too in the second half. A couple of the times he won the clearance and broke through the entire pack were gold.
-
I thought Caddy was pretty serviceable last night - particularly in the first half when Port was on top.
-
This was a very satisfying win. It was great to outpace Port. Edwards was much better this week. His first half was good in particular. Lambert, Grimes, Ellis and Butler were all good. Despite losing in the ruck I thought Nank played a good game. Credit to Jack for playing a selfless game. Enormous credit should go to Rance, Martin and Cotchin. Rance showed what an absolute champion he is. His second half showed real character as did Cotchin's. Martin's ability to get involved in the contest is incredible. Grigg's disposal continues to let him down. He really needs to work on it.

I'm not anti Cotchin. Had a man crush when he first put on the jumper.
I don't think he should be captain though as I think it's hindered him as a player.
I will acknowledge him when he plays well. Im critical of all players when they play poorly but I have much higher expectations for elite players especially when they are captain of our club.
Granted his second half was twice as good as his first half but only passible by the standards I'd expect from a Brownlow medalist and captain, I didn't like the dinky kick in the third that caused a turnover.
I must admit that unfortunately Hardwicks stupid game plan ruined his natural game and not his fault but he was a fanatical adherent to that stupidity.
I like it when he shows his natural ability to win the contest, break free and pinpoint a pass on a forwards chest.
I want him also to perform in the crunch games against quality opposition and perform in the ultimate test of finals.
I don't expect any of this from Grigg.
-
His first half was poor numbers wise but as usual people ignore the amount of one percenters he does, that rarely wanes.....
-
Some people watch a game to see a win and work out what happened - win or loss that created the outcome.
Others use it to justify a pre conceived idea.
-
Grimes did an awesome job last night in containing Grey. He is having a really consistent year. He can play tall or small and that makes him very important to us.
The best thing about our backline this year is most of our defenders are there to help each other out when it comes to defending. They seem really well drilled.
Astbury is having by far his best season and now that McIntosh has settled down back we have a real serious backline.
Rance is just a star.
And I'm really looking forward to when Vlastuin comes back.
Vlastuin Rance Grimes
Short Astbury McIntosh
Now that's a very good tough backline with plenty of attacking players to run the footy out as well.
-
We fielded the 3rd youngest team this round. 5th most inexperience.
