We got through last night unscathed.
Dimma mentioned post-match that Bolton is likely to return next week.
Fire away with your changes, if any?
-
If Bolton returns then Rioli should rest.

I think that's the plan....
-
Ins- Bolton, Vlastuin(needs a big week in the track otherwise Lloyd stays)
Outs- Rioli, Lloyd
If we are to be competitive in September we need to find someone that can play that second tall option in our forwardline. I'd even consider Maric, he is a beast and would give us a contest for that bail out kick down the line. And could give Nank a chop out in the ruck, even at his worst he is a better option than Grigg in the ruck.
I just dont think we are going to get away with only Jack as our marking forward against really good sides.

Agree we need another tall forward but Maric can't move and jump anymore so playing him would mean we play one player down. If you watched the VFL game yesterday when Essendon kicked goals and looked likely it was when Maric was in the ruck. When Soldo rucked we won clearances and dominated. I think we will continue with the same until a Chol or Gathwaite improves or if Griff returns, he is that player. One thing is for sure we need to recruit and also draft in this area.

Would go down this path myself
But I can't see Rioli being "managed" for this game
Think they will play him versus the Saints and rest him the following week against the Lions
George is the one this week I reckon tahe will be rotated out (he like Rioli was poor)
Just listened to Hardwick's presser and he said the plan was to give the little blokes a rest and rotate them out over the remainder of the year
Said young bodies need the resr

Disagree about dropping Lloyd. Lloyd played okay against Port and should retain his place.

I'm not sure Vlastuin is ready considering he didn't play in the VFL yesterday.
Garthwaite in for Lloyd, Bolton in for Castagna, Graham or Miles in for Prestia.
I agree Rioli was poor but we need to maintain our leg speed, particularly at Etihad, and Castagna was worse.

ON THE BLOCK: Tyson Stengle would be unlucky to get dropped after kicking two goals on debut but Damien Hardwick indicated Shai Bolton, who was managed last week, will come back in against the Saints. Or could Jason Castagna get a rest as part of the small forward rotation? Oleg Markov didn’t get a lot of the footy and could be in trouble if Nick Vlastuin is ready to return.
ON THE CUSP: Bolton is available and Vlastuin will be monitored after pulling up sore following his return from a shoulder injury two weeks ago. Anthony Miles had a mountain of the ball again in the VFL team’s six-point win against Essendon and forgotten defender Taylor Hunt picked up 33 disposals and a crucial late goal — could he come in for Markov?
AL PATON’S FORECAST: Best win of the year? Anzac Eve against Melbourne was pretty special but Saturday night’s win against Port Adelaide was massive on a weekend when the Demons, Bulldogs and, of course, Port lost (Geelong’s draw could also make things interesting). The Tigers are a game clear in the top four and showing the attributes including, dare we say it, mental toughness, needed to make an impact when it really matters in about 10 weeks. Can they do it without a second key forward? Ben Griffith’s future is up in the air but teenager Ryan Garthwaite is one to keep an eye on; he was taken at pick 72 in last year’s draft as a key defender but has been playing as a forward in the VFL and booted two goals against the Bombers. Richmond will start favourite against St Kilda on Saturday night but the Saints are on a three-game winning streak and will be no pushover. One thing’s for sure, this game will be a lot better than the last time these teams played in one of the worst matches of 2016.

Throw that pooman, Prestia, to the poohouse.
-
Aside from which, Prestia had a good game.
I'd like to see Vlas come in if he's fit. Bolton also in.
Castagna and Lloyd outs for mine.
-
IN - Vlastuin, Bolton, Miles
OUT - Markov, Castanga, Lloyd
:gotigers
-
No change for me. If Bolton has to come in, give George or Rioli a rest.
-
Vlastuin cant come in after his 6 weeks off and only playing the single game before being rested again for soreness. He needs 2 weeks in the VFL to be match ready. Bolton to come in for either George or Rioli rested and i give Gathwaite every chance this week forward. I think that is the plan for his for the rest of the year - our second forward.
-
I reckon garthwaite another week in the vfl up fwd and if he continues to show something will come in against Brisbane. Maybe Bolton for Rioli or Lloyd this week that's it
-
Things are looking promising when we can potentially rest players like George, Rioli and even Lloyd. All are very dangerous when they are playing well and can turn a game on its head in a quarter.
It doesn't really matter at this stage who is rested as long as everyone is pushing the others to play well.
If we could only find that second tall forward to help Jack we are going places.

Restia Prestia

The Tigers have some decisions to make with their small forwards after Tyson Stengle made an impression in his debut with two goals.
The Tiger he replaced, Shai Bolton, was managed in round 15 and is available to return, while Daniel Rioli kicked one goal against Port Adelaide.
Bringing Bolton back for a fellow small looks to be the only likely change at this stage, with Nick Vlastuin (shoulder) still needing to pass a fitness test to be available.
Todd Elton (shoulder) is closing in on his return and needs to pass a fitness test, but it is unlikely he would force out a small forward with the combination working so well.
Anthony Miles (36 possessions) continues to win a stack of football in the VFL but can’t break into the midfield. Taylor Hunt (33 possessions) was also impressive at state league level and could come under consideration.

George has to be out. His kicking is pathetic

George has to be out. His kicking is pathetic
His kicking is really inconsistent at the moment agreed but imo he offers something different than Rioli and Bulter.
He does everything they do when it comes to chasing, tackling and harassing but he can also take a mark on a lead. He is a pretty good mark for a little bloke and unlike most forwards we have at the minute, knows where and when to lead.

I'll pay that BUT I think Bolton and maybe even Stengle in time will be able to provide that to a higher standard than George has.

Shai, Vlas and Elton have been passed fit to play this weekend. The question is whether it's reserves or seniors.
Stengle Tiger will play again in seniors.
I'd imagine Elton in 2's, will they risk Vlastuin for Oleg and "rest" Georgie for Shai?

I think we all need to remember how far back George has come from. Basically pick 100 odd in his draft year.
He is not perfect by any stretch but he is a very handy player. Hard, quick and as I've said a pretty good mark.
We can only hope those players can go past him as that puts us in a really good position.
