Well half expected but I thought miles playing well. Putting a lot of faith in c Ellis.
-
Despite Hawkins, Selwood and Duncan out they still have some great ins.
MUST go as hard as we did last week. Even then it'll be a tight game.

That effort in the goal square in the last quarter was probably the deal breaker for Miles - besides, with Selwood out we no longer need to match Geelong for head high frees so it sort of makes sense...
-
The miles incident looked horrible but then look at Castagna in the goal square vs GCS? I think it is a bit harsh to single out Miles who for me has helped us win midfield battles of late
-
Given that C Ellis was touch and go all week due to soreness, I find it strange they'd keep him in and drop Miles
-
Would've thught Soldo was the obvious ommission this week....

I think we kept him in because Smith is a monster ruck who would dominate the hitouts against a much shorter Nank.
-
He's hardly Gawn. Jacobs or Ryder....or even Lobb for that matter...
-
I would still keep Soldo as relief as we need a fit and firing Toby for finals and many more seasons for the matter
-
He'll be getting a week off before the finals....

Get destroyed in the middle and lose --> bring in miles and win --> drop miles --> ???
-
I think we lack that extra inside mid when Miles isn't there. We've been better with Prestia AND Miles rather than one or the other.

Agree wouldve rested C Ellis, its no coincidence that Prestias output has improved when Miles has come in to take some of the load off
-
Very predictable club.
Anyways.... :gotigers

Agreed .
-
I love Miles but have to trust the process

Yep
Worse players than miles..

Miles was blindsighted. Who was the other Richmond player and why didn't he shepherd for Miles?

I agree. Would have rested Ellis C. It makes more sense to have an additional inside mid given the dimensions of the ground and would have freed up Prestia to try and combat Dangerfield.

He didn't need shepherding he just needed to kick it instead of hatching it

In that scenario Miles assumed Dusty wanted the ball and hesitated, why he hesitated I can only speculate that Dusty was calling for the ball. Some players don't have the confidence of the top liners to ignore a stupid call but in this case instead of just kicking the goal he sees Dusty on his right and can't see the opposition player steaming in on his left. I don't know for sure but it looks as though Dusty calls for the ball but he shouldn't have called for the ball but instead whilst shepherding he'd be yelling for Miles to just kick the goal.
Shepherding is another missing ingredient. It's not hard to implement or execute and it's a very effective weapon. I don't know why when a player handpasses the ball to a teammate running past he can't just shepherd the chasing opponent but in today's footy time and time again you'll see the player that handpasses runs to try to get another handpass because his teammate just got caught.

I am not sure he called for the ball, I think it was all Miles

Miles stuffed up, let's not over complicate it.

Yep
Not that I hold it against Miles as he has plenty of runs on the board.
Plus we gift games to spuds who continually make mistakes over and over again.

I agree, he is stiff to be dropped.
-
gotta look at his tog as well. every week he is in the bottom 2 or 3 for time on ground, He not only is not given a great go when he plays he is also the one who cops it in the neck when changes are made.
Yep he makes the odd howler here and there but this bloke has been as solid as a rock and his decision making and ball use a long with his toughness has been a hell of a lot better than a few of his more liked team mates.

Totally agree

I think it has to be a personality clash between Dimma and Miles. No other logical explanation imo.
Dimma has his favourites and it's pretty clear who they are.
-
Team unity does make a difference. Not the be all and end all but I'm sure Dimma is very concious of it. That if anything is his strength people skills.

I think Shane Tuck can shed some light on this

Put in Miles instead of Corey Ellis and we win.. :shh

Prop up my legless uncle with a broomstick instead of Houli and we win
-
Match committee stuffed up dropping Miles. The smaller ground was conducive to a more contested game.
-
The Halfstep led Match committee stuffed up yet again.
e.f.a.
