Does this prove Tigers destined for flag?
Amazing stats show Tigers can win premiership. Geelong and Richmond similar stats.

IS this the biggest sign that the Tigers are set for premiership success? Check out these amazing numbers pitting the Tigers of 2017 against the Cats of 2007.
THE similarities are striking. Is this the biggest sign that the Tigers are set for premiership success?
Take a snapshot of Richmond’s journey to the 2017 preliminary final and it matches up identically with Geelong’s path through 2007. And we all know how that ended for the Cats.
The parallels begin in 2005 and 2015, with both sides suffering tough September defeats.
A pair of shock finals misses the following year led to internal turmoil and lengthy reviews which had Mark Thompson and Damien Hardwick on the hot seat.
However, both would go on to survive and from there, the wheel turned.
What followed for both clubs was the key appointment of Neil Balme, VFL Liston Trophy wins and AFL MVP victories.
But wait, the similarities don’t stop there.
If Dustin Martin, currently $1.10 favourite with TAB, can win the Brownlow Medal, he will match the exploits of Jimmy Bartel.
If the Tigers can win the VFL flag, having qualified for the big dance on Saturday, that will match the Cats’ VFL success of 2007.
Then, the only thing left to tick of is … a premiership win.

Thompson nearly got sacked because he had made finals the previous two seasons finishing 4th and 5th. In 2006 they had a whole heap of developing players entering key age and games played kpi,s .
Bartel, Ablett,Chapman, Corey, Enright, Egan, Kelly, Mackie, Hunt, Johnson,King, Rooke, Johnson,Mooney, Ottens, Scarlett, Wojcinski and others were all aged between 22 and 27 yrs and they missed finals
2006 They were expected to at least play in a preliminary final when they missed altogether they had a review.
The one saving grace for them in 2006 was the fact the low finish enabled them to draft Selwood who was probably the missing midfield piece to their puzzle and for a first yr player had a very good first yr.
Personally i think we are more like the Hawks of 2008 they won one out of the blue and then narrowly missed finals in 2009 and from there continued to add to eventually build a dynasty.
We won in 2017 out of the blue and yes unlike the Hawks we finished on top the following yr, but imo like the Hawks we do need to add some more pieces build some genuine depth and add some more polish to get close to a dynasty.

I'll be happy to have any form of dynasty. Bring on 2019!!!!

I think we will three peat 2019, 2020 and 2021.
That will make it 4 flags in 5 years and become our greatest era.
-
Need to win at least 6 flags within a maximum time frame of 23 years for it to be our greatest era... :shh
-
I think we will compete the next two years then fall away for a few years as our stars retire. 2021 will be this teams swansong IMHO and it may come sooner. I put our odds of winning one of the next two at 50:50 which is pretty good.
