Have to say I've never really experienced this before. I've become increasingly superstitious this week; and very unproductive at work (although I'm a gen Y so that's par for the course ammirright!!??).
Just wondering how everyone else is coping, what are the feels at this stage of the week 5 days out from the prelim?
-
Too crook at the moment to really think about it much ;D
Just trying to get well enough to actually get to the game
-
Feeling it early this week. It obviously means a lot to us all

yes it does pal, especially for the under 45's.

feeling OK, Saturday should be massive, I can't go to the GF, I am hoping for the best and just hope that no matter what happens we put up a good show and try our guts out.
I think that Geelong are pretty geed up after our supporters showing them no respect and a 51 point drubbing. Scott would have used that to inspire his team.
My prediction is Gee RFC Grand Final, however would be happier if we were against The Crows.
Still have to beat GWS and the umpires first....I don't think it will be a walk in the park but our boys and supporters are up to it.
-
Ok at the moment but by Friday I won't be able to think straight.
-
It feels like we have played only once in a month . I'm worried we will come out flat .
Looking forward to seeing how the Crows go on Friday - they are in a similar boat .
Im super excited but I know during the game my stomach will be in knots , will probably have to go for a walk around the block during the last quarter - which I have done at least half a dozen times this season .
I think we have been more consistent than GWS this year and we will prevail. Their record in Melbourne is not great . I think our pressure and a hostile crowd will crack them . I really do believe a spot in the grand final is ours to lose .
2017 is really something special. The Richmond football club is the love of my life ( apart from my son of course) . I was too young to appreciate 1980 . The first season I followed was 1982 . Since I turned 10 we have been mediocre at best .
It does feel wierd to be this close to success to be honest. Football has completely consumed me at the minute. I think back to 2001 , you just knew we couldn't match the Brisbane juggernaut. Ditto 1995 when we played our granny against Essendon in the semi.
Funny , you could just tell after the opening JLT game against Adelaide- something was different this year .
-
The anticipation is killing me. I'm torn between feeling quietly confident (and how could you not be?) and feeling that any confidence might jinx it. I just want this so much.
I grew up attending blow-out after blow-out and taking enjoyment out of "honourable losses". Too young to remember anything from '95 and '01 was fun but we were so far off Essendon and Brisbane anyway it didn't really matter for much. And turned out to be the biggest false dawn of all time.

With all these byes it feels like it is taking forever. I just want to know what happens dammit!

Boooo!

Over 45's are feeling the pinch too!
haha perhaps not as much as us. At least you have seen success.
My youth was spent listening to Rex call 80 point drubbings on saturday arvo's, while my brothers who support pies and blues hung scarfs out the window. hahaha Its been a long road. :thumbsup
-
I am confident about it all.
We know our best is good enough. Just have to bring it.

We've beaten 15 of the 17 teams this year. It's good enough to warrant confidence

Thats how I feel - its all up to us, if we bring our A game the giants wont know what hit them

I'm 43 so I'm with ya. Just remember 80

No nerves it's allowed me to reminisce about the good old days, when we expected too win.
Quietly confident.
:thumbsup
-
Nervous, at 31 y.o, there hasn't been a more important match than this match!
-
no nerves no real expectations still.

Don't lie claw, everyone knows you're shytting bricks and are terrified that we might win....

Are people more worried about actually losing or all the shyte we'll inevitably cop from everyone if we do?
While falling at the second last hurdle would suck massively, how many of you would've gladly taken that at the start of year? :shh
-
i must admit lads, ive been thinking about the game alot today and im onto my third borrie in 5 hours.
When your nerves have you wound, head to down to brown town.

January- this is going to be a long and difficult year. Another rebuild 😣😣
February/March- Gee they looked ok in the JLT , maybe will be more competitive than I thought.
Rd 1 - I know its just Carlton but wow wee the Tigers look good .
Rd 5 - How good is this . Return to finals
Rd 6 - Reality check. Miles off top team. Team of midgets wont cut it .
Rd 8 - how the hell did we lose to @#$/ing Fremantle.
Rd 9 - @##$ @#$/ @#$
Rd 10 - suck it bombers
Rd 11 - beat another boogy team . Hands off our Dusty .
Rd 13 - Sydney !!!! - we should be top of the ladder
Rd 15 - Tiger time in Adelaide.
Rd 16 - what is this crap
Rd 18 - tough finals type win . Third on the ladder - can we finish top 2 ??
Rd 20 - Tiger tornado destroys Hawthorn- without Riewoldt. Top 2 here we come .
Rd 21 - Cant beat a Geelong team at half strength. Typical Tigers . Will we ever beat this mob ?? Can we stay in top 4 ?? Worried.
Rd 23 - Dusty Dusty Dusty
Post Qualifying final - we can make the Grand final . We should make the grand final . This is so agonising close . Another week off - bloody hell , this can't be good . Arghhhh !!!!
-

I personally will be taking a glass half full approach if we lose.
I'm glad to finally win a final and making a prelim is a fine effort. Anyone who will give it to us would be usually a carlton fan with brain cells missing.
I've said all year we needed to make it to the second week, and we have, so I won't be calling for heads if we go out in an honourable loss.

Honestly it depends on the type of result. If we cough up a win a la '13 elim final I'll be ropable. Took us 4 years to get over that one.
If we're beaten by a better team (and on paper they certainly are) then I'll swallow it but I'll also be depressed at the climb from here to close the gap.
If we're thumped; well, I already know how to deal with those feelings. :rollin

All the poo that we will cop, there is already people talking about the fact that we're paying Lids still this season so if they beat us the flogs will crap on about that.
Also media street for the last 3 weeks have been churning out articles like there's no tomorrow milking every last drop and setting us up for the biggest fail since Spam.
Nerves have kicked in now, cant imagine how the players are feeling but I just have to put all of my faith and hope into them because there is nothing I can do that will change the result.
-
Reckon we can most definitely snatch the crown this year so will be gutted.
It's not often you peak this time of year, no injuries and there is no stand out team.
Need to cash in
-
Over 45's are feeling the pinch too!
Yes we are, I already feel like i do when we are in the 4th qtr of a match and its close, might need some sedatives from you YBB. Geez we have to win it dont we. anxiety already started.
-
Now that I'm feeling better and almost over this nasty bug
I actually feel quite calm.
Just looking forward to full on weekend of footy. Huge crowd on Saturday and biggie on Sunday. Play to our best and the results will take care of themselves
And for the first time in years will actually be watching the Brownlow on Monday
-
Feeling good. Obviously hungry for a flag but for us to be in this position I'm very happy. A loss would be devastating but I think we can all agree that this year has exceeded expectations

Grand Final day is by far the best day of the year for me. I just love everything about it!
I cannot even fathom that day if we are actually in it! And even moreso if we actually win it.
Throw in The Killers are playing, boy this could be the greatest day of all time!
The stars have aligned this year for us, we just need to finish it off.
But in all honesty I don't get nervous about this stuff, just excited!

This is why I'm feeling pretty good - regardless of talent v talent one thing we have over just about everyone else is a very settled side with no injuries, healthy and peaking perfectly - its hard to find yourself in this position where all the planets have aligned - gotta make it count and i feel we will
-
Definitely nervous. The stars have fallen in line this year therefore we need to seize this opportunity. I have no doubt the players feed off the crowd support. Therefore it is time to make as much noise as possible in support of the team

Definately keeping his options open so he can (and if we lose he will).
The thing is his strategy and end game of the mother of all 'i told you so's' is the only reason hes still posting here, but people arent that stupid and can see right through it.
if we lose he'll do it, get his endorphin hit and then hell be gone for months. The Psychological drivers are very interesting.
All this from a guy who fabricated stats to make a point on another thread and then when he was called out and proven to be making the number up, just laughed.
Pretty humiliating and embarrasing stuff. ;)

Probably fortunately i wouldn't know one sedative from another but i do know what beer is so that might have to surfice.

He is far from the only one on this forum that gave us no hope. He is one of the few that haven't changed his tune in the last month though. Doesn't matter though as win or loose he and many others have been proven wrong just by getting this far.
As Tiger supporters lets hope we all get to celebrate a flag and if we don't then let's hope there is more positivity here than there has been in past year's. 2017 has been a good year to be a Tiger, remember that even if the next couple of weeks don't bring us that illusive flag.

who seriosuly predicted tigers to get this far? That would be very few not only here but at the club. Perhaps yeahright, jackstar and not many else.
matters little as you said :thumbsup

This is fantastic, what I've been dreaming of for years.
Have all the emotions at stages but just enjoying it and looking forward to Saturday, we are a gun team on song ...we can do this poo

There was a poll at the start of the season where almost a third of us said we would be top 8 and a few said top4/2. Pitty you cant see who voted for what :whistle. The smile I would get from seeing that though would be nothing compared to the over the top joy from a flag. Its been a long time for all of us and some of us are getting to the point there it was starting to get to the point we might never see another one. If they win this week then I will be spending Grand Final Day with my Tiger Mum and Dad who are in their 80's thats for sure.
Im very nervous about this game. Probably more nervous that the possible Grand Final Matchups. GWS have more pure talent than any team I have seen for years. If they put it together on the day its going to be very hard to win.
-

That's the thing for me. I think a lot of us (and a number from the media) are expecting GWS are going to put in a performance like they did v Adelaide in the QF or Geel the week before. This is a prelim. They're going to hit us with everything they have. When they're up and going they're the best team in the comp. I can't help but be worried about that.
We need to play our best footy and hope a bit goes our way if we're going to win this.

You sure that's not the hammy getting out of bed?
-
Anyone feeling "all Richmond out" ??? - so many nonsensical Richmond articles at the moment , basically word vomit everywhere.
This must be what its like to be a Crows supporter living in Adelaide.
Saturday can't come quick enough - someone else to talk about .
-
Only because we've been shyte for so long and there's no other big Vic clubs left....
...imagine the media slobbering all over "brave" Essendon if they were still in it....hell they'e slobbered all over them for three decades...
...and just wait until Carlton & Collingwood start challenging again....and it's only been 5 years since the latter was....
-
A very different feeling to the '95 and 2001 Prelims where it was more hope against the odds. We're a genuine show if we bring that intensity, pressure and tackling ferocity of the QF. Just like Adelaide are doing to Geelong in the first quarter tonight. Geelong waltzed around the tired Swans last week (just like GWS did against the West Coast witches hats) but they are crumbling already under intense pressure. We do the same job on the Giants and we'll be in the Granny.

-
Still surprisingly calm, maybe all the years have steeled me.
-
At work in my Tiger gear. Shop window done with the "Go Tigers, flags, bears, clocks and the lot". This game has me worried. Would love if they could play like the crows last night and get a early lead, would sort of help settle the nerves.

Nerves have definitely kicked in again this week so thought I'd bump this; if anything so I can get the public Dooks stool diary up and going again.
I just keep picturing us winning in my head and then have to keep telling myself we're underdogs and not to expect to much.

Mate, can i give you a tip?
Take the lid off, embrace it
stuff the underdog tag, i was thinking the same thing BUT we need to lap up every second of this week because if we do end up losing we would spend the week uncertain and weve just waited too stuffen long..
So having said that i wont be pessimistic this week, i wont reverse mozz or underplay it.
WE ARE GOING TO WIN AND THE LID IS TRULY stuffing OFF
NO REGRETS :gotigers

I am actually avoiding all the footy shows/ radio etc. I am just a little too wound up and I am not sure I enjoy this feeling. When I get to town tomorrow I'll get into the festivities and enjoy it more.

As per the entire finals campaign
No nerves
Just enjoying all of it
Excited and just loving everything about this week

I'm doing my best. Either way, it's still been a ripper year and it's been fun to follow. Even those other years when we made finals weren't any near as much fun as this because I love the way we play now.
-
Was nervous yesterday, not nervous at all now. Really enjoyed this week and expecting us to come out and give it an almighty crack tomorrow
-
Relaxed and getting on the turps. :cheers

Overnight encore of the Prelim on Ch 7 to start the day :thumbsup.
This week I've been more 'one to go, let's get the job done!'. Once again, if we bring that intensity, pressure, tackling ferocity, win hard ball and run hard in numbers for each other, and importantly nail our shots on the scoreboard, then we're a genuine show for the flag. We actually didn't play that well in the first half last week, so we have room to step up another gear today.
-
yesterday it hit me again just like last Sat that we are in a grand final.
still cant believe it its just surreal.
feeling nervous this morning. going to give the crapper a massive work over.
