Dustin Martin brand continues to grow, signs new multi-year deal with PUMA ahead of 2018 season

THE Dustin Martin personal brand steam train has gathered greater momentum, with the Richmond superstar signing an unprecedented four-year contract extension with major brand Puma.
Foxfooty.com.au can reveal that Martin has joined the likes of Usain Bolt, Lewis Hamilton, Antoine Griezmann, Selina Gomez and Rihanna to become the latest star — and first Australian — to agree to a multi-year contract with the European brand.
Martin is quickly turning into one of Australian sport’s most marketable athletes after his, essentially, perfect 2017 AFL campaign.
The superstar midfielder elevated his game to unprecedented levels to average career-high numbers and become the best player in the AFL.
Not only was he part of Richmond’s drought-breaking premiership, he almost clean-sweeped most of the major individual awards, claiming the Brownlow Medal, Norm Smith medal, best finals player, Tigers’ best and fairest, AFLPA MVP and AFLCA MVP, as well as All-Australian selection.
Martin, the face of Puma’s launch of new boot Future, said he was humbled by his new deal.
“To be considered by a global brand to be in the same category as people like Bolt and Rihanna is really humbling, and I’m proud to be part of the PUMA team for the next 4 years” Martin said.
PUMA Oceania general manager Pancho Gutstein said Martin deserved to be recognised as “one of the greatest athletes on the planet”.
“We are delighted to have him as part of our team as he continues to reach new heights” Gutstein said.
“Dustin’s play on the field speaks for itself and this year we are really looking forward to working closer with Dustin off-field and integrating him further with the brand and using our global platform to elevate his profile even further.”
The signing also comes just weeks after Martin was also unveiled as the face and body of Bonds underwear and apparel.
As part of the brand’s campaign launch, Martin starred in an advertisement where he ran down Sydney Rd in Brunswick in just his Bonds undies, using his signature ‘don’t argue’ fend-off.
The 26-year-old also featured prominently in Fox Sports’ advertisement promoting the 2018 season, which was released this week.

It is going to be interesting to see if Dusty ends up taking a pay cut in the future on his RFC contract if it means keeping some of better players together for a chance at more premiership success.
He seems to be killing it off the field (although hard to know how much of this might be a media beat-up), and his contract is going to present problems when it comes to keeping our younger talent in the future.
I personally think he will.

Would anyone else like to see limited edition Puma sneakers?.
For eg: black with a yellow puma stripe down the side and a rfc 17 on the back of the heel.
