Title: Blues
Post by: mightytiges on March 01, 2005, 05:39:08 AM
Geez as much as we hate them on the field it's still  to see amazing to see another big club with  financial concerns writing off $11 million  :gobdrop.

Bit of a surprise that one - But isn't it something to do with the move from Optus and devaluation of the stands etc ...

Lets face it the AFL will never let the big 4 Vic clubs fold - means to much money to them.

Kick em while there down I reckon  :thumbsup memory like an elephant here F em  :lol

Maybe the bluebaggers can find some extra $ in the brown paper bags under their desks ::).

How about the AFL - fines them $1 million for cheating and now plans to hand the money straight back ???. CBF = rort!

It was great radio on 3AW yesterday listening to all the moaning after they got thumped, and of course all the callers ringing up giving them heaps  :clapping

Just hope they carry that form into the season  :thumbsup

Happened to hear some of the talk back on SEN, which was on after midnight, and all these disappointed Carlton supporters were ringing in not happy that they’d been flogged by 99 points by Port.

One said he ripped up his membership, another said he wasn’t going to take his kids to watch that sort of uncompetitive rubbish and on and on it went, blaming Dennis Pagan, recruiting, you name it.

I just had to get this off my chest, because I’ve been listening to supporters of other clubs calling us bandwagon supporters, come out of the wood work when you win and all this stuff for years.

Well, now maybe some of these Carlton supporters will understand, even a little bit, what it’s like, to support a team that looks like it’s going nowhere, and it’s hard to see any light at the end of the tunnel.

And when they’ve been copping that sort of uncompetitive garbage, and lived to see their team and club be an absolute rabble, for at least 10-15 years, then maybe I’ll be able to feel a little bit sorry for them.

In the meantime, feel the pain, just like Richmond, and other supporters have done for decades, and not just 3 or 4 seasons.

I wish the Bombers could feel the same pain.  They seem to hit a stumbling block and bounce back.  Their arrogant born to rule supporters need a bit of humble pie i reckon as well  :thumbsup

It's interesting to see supporters of other clubs bagging their own, and saying/doing things they’ve accused Richmond supporters of for years.  Funny how it seems to be acceptable behaviour, unless it’s a Richmond supporter of course. :-\

Would be interesting to see how Ess fans coped in those circumstances.  I don't reckon their supporters would handle it all that well.  They’ve won 4 premierships since Sheeds has been coach and some of them still aren’t happy.  Maybe some of them could appreciate what they’ve got if they didn’t have it any more.

We should make sure Carlton is our opponent in the rivalry rounds for the next 20 years...there stuffed, they know it...its gonna be good going to RFC games against the blues.

Only problem with that is apart from the flogging we gave them early last year we've still lost every game to that rabble over recent years  :banghead.

The Blues right now remind me of us back in the late 80's. Runners up to two wooden spoons within 6 years. It's going to them ages before they right the ship.

I'd like to see other clubs go through what we've been through the last 20 years and still get big crowds to games and care enough in large numbers to jump up and down in frustration. We might be feral lol but I reckon it shows we're the most loyal supporters in the league who stick through thick and thin  :thumbsup.

Agree Moi and TS. Many Bomber supporters forget the 70s when Essendon were nobodies living on the past glories of Reynolds and Coleman. Unless you lived on the Broadie line back then you hardly bumped into one of their supporters. All credit goes to Sheeds the way he turned that club into the popular powerhouse it is today. Funny thing is we've been out of sync with them over the years - when we've been up the top; they've struggled and vice versa. Hopefully we're witnessing the tide turning our way and the Dons heading towards mediocrity  :yep.

1995 was a good year though to be in sync
Awesome final  :thumbsup

On the AFL site today they have Collo saying the Blues don't want to go down the CBF path - Link (http://afl.com.au/default.asp?pg=news&spg=display&articleid=249582) - but sheesh they financially up the creek :o.

Quote
As a result the Blues - who were considered the financially strongest club in the competition in the 1980's and who only a decade ago had around $4 million in cash reserves - now have debts of around $7 million.

And the club is being crippled by interest payments of $500,000 a year just to service its debts.

If North Melbourne were smart theyd start merger discussions with Carlton now. North are stuffed for mine...they have no future but Carlton have a huge support base, eventually theyll get out of there problems- it may take a while but everyone knows the AFL wont let Carlton go out the back door...North should get in now for a merger because this is when Carlton are most vulnerable and this is the time that will get them the most things in a merger. I can see the Carlton-Nth Kangaroos coming along in that scenario with a big white kangaroo where the CGC logo is on the carlton jumper.

IMO North supporters would have too many bitter memories of Carlton under Elliot wanting to chew them up and spit them out to accept a merger with the Blues. There'd be more sympathy towards Carlton if it wasn't for their arrogance under his reign as president. Plus it's not in our (RFC) interests for Melbourne teams to merge to become a superteam. That's why we didn't support Fitzroy merging with North. Better for us if they relocate to a different city/market. The Blues could become the Carrara Football Club and still keep their CFC monogram  ;D

Andy D should remind himself that Kardinia Park could be used in a 3rd ground in an emergency instead of doing a 180 degree backflip wasting $$$ on taking out a 35 year lease at Princes Park   ::). It's also great too see if a Club gets into financial troubles through its own greed and continually trying to cheat the system then all it needs to do is change admins when it gets caught and everything is not only ok according to Andy D but you get $$$ handshake to go with it  :banghead. Wasn't Collo at Carlton midway through Elliot's reign?

Ode to Carlton - to the tune of Bohemiam Rhapsody by Queen

 Is Carlton in strife
 Is it just bankruptcy
 We're such a bad side
 No cash and no equity
All the dough's at the Pies
All ours went to Craig Bradley

Laughed at the poor clubs, gave them no sympathy
Cos it was easy come, Fitzroy go
We were high, Saints were low
Our salaries were too high, doesnt really matter, if you cheat
 If you cheat

 Kouta, Once thrilled the fans
SOS hid the cash under his bed
Now we're 7 million in the red

Kouta, no one made a sound
Then Steve O'Reilly went and blabbed his mouth away

 Kouta, oooooooo
Lance and Campo bled us dry
And Fev took us for every red cent we could borrow
Caro moans, Caro moans, and Lance is getting fatter

Too late, the time has come
 Meeting Andy D at nine
Beg for money and we'll be fine
Good times for everybody, from the other clubs
Gonna leave us way behind to take the spoon

 Kouta, ooooooo
 The Blues dont wanna die
We sometimes wish Jack had never been born at all
Caro moans, Caro moans, but cheating doesnt matter

I see a little silhouetto of a man
Got the hooch? Got the hooch? Can you sell to Lawrence Angwin
Thunderbolt and Lightening, bad Es are very frightening, me-
 Pagan Collo, Pagan Collo
 Pagan Collo, Pagan Collo
 Pagan Collo, figuro-magnificoach
Im just a poor coach nobody loves me
Hes a just poor coach, with a bloody massive fee
 Recycled list, its a monstrosity
Easy come easy go, hock our ass like a ho
Bismillah! no - we will not be a ho - be a ho
Bismillah! no - we will not be a ho - be a ho
Bismillah! no - we will not be a ho - be a ho
Will not be a ho. Be a ho
Will not be a ho. Be a ho
no, no , no, no, no, no,no
mama mia mama mia mama mia be a ho
Jack said the club has 3 mill in paper bags for me, for me, for me.....

So you think that we're crooks and deserve to fry
So you think you can laugh and leave us to die
Oh Andy, show us the money Andy
Cos we got our hand out, we'll have our hand out for 10 years

 Cheating doesnt matter
 Anyone can see
Cheating doesnt matter, cheating doesnt matter, to Andy D
 (any way the wind blows)
