Naming Soldo means they are worried about the 8 ft American.

more worried about Grundy methinks. The American has a good attitude but not the play reading skills to match.

and can barely hold an uncontested overhead mark at the best of times. very much a 'nearly' player. nearly takes big grabs, nearly does good things

Soldo has been named as an emergency every week :-*
It’s mandatory to Name one ruckman as an emergency for every game  ;)

I think Short would be stiff to be dropped as he hasn’t put a foot wrong in any game. I’ve liked his decision making and he’s not afraid to go for a run when the team needs it. He’s been one of our most consistent players this season so far.

Clearly has been better than B. Ellis in nearly any category this season so far.

Tiger trio no guarantee for Pies

RICHMOND won't make a selection call on returning premiership stars Nick Vlastuin, Josh Caddy and Jack Graham until 48 hours out from its blockbuster clash with Collingwood on Sunday.

While all three will be available to face the Magpies, coach Damien Hardwick said on Friday that Vlastuin (calf), Caddy (hamstring) and Graham (suspension) will all need to press their cases at training.

In a further selection headache for Hardwick, all the members of the team that dismantled Melbourne on Anzac Day eve have pulled up well, and there's no concerns for the club after a five-day break.

"They're available for selection first and foremost, (but) we'll finalise our side after training today," Hardwick said.

"All the guys that played last week have pulled up really well, so they're available as well.

"We're in a really good place at the moment."

Hardwick also refused to promise Jack Higgins a spot, despite the first-year sensation kicking three goals in an impressive performance in the Anzac Day eve thrashing of Melbourne.

Strong competition for spots saw the first-round pick dropped after his two-goal debut against Hawthorn in round three.

"I can't guarantee (Jack's spot) unfortunately at the moment, we've got some really good players that were unavailable last week that have become available," Hardwick said.

"Jack played really well last week, as did a number of other players, so there's going to be some unfortunate guys that are going to miss out. But that's the nature of the business, and they understand that."

I think the Townsend drop is a mistake. He is a straight kick and a solid player up there and a decent mark and lead.  I hope we won't regret this call.

It's the right call, was very poor Tuesday amd been less than average all season

Townsend very unlucky imo. Plays his role as well as any and better than most. Perhaps its solely for that goal he fluffed in the 2nd.

It may just be a case of wanting to replace Townsend with Caddy and not disrupting the other small forwards including Turbo.
We will learn this Sunday how and if it works I guess

Think he brings a lot to the forward line, even if he doesn't get the stats.

I like the changes. I think they are fair. Townsend and Ellis will find their way back, maybe this is what they need to get back on track. Ellis hasn't played well and Townsend whilst hard at the man and the footy, needs to find more of it and he needs to kick more goals than he has the last two weeks.

This exactly Townsend job is to kick goals to and get involved more not just tackling and pressure acts been down on that.

I can cop most of the rubbish you throw up but not this about one of my heros in Grimes...

I couldn’t help myself coming on here after hearing Bellis had been omitted. 🎉🎉

The other player that I think is lucky is Buttler- 1 goal in his last 4 games isn’t good enough.

My man Georgie is the standout small forward to date.

Enjoying it all so far to be fair. We are just a very good football side at the moment.

The outs just prove what an embarrassment of riches we have.

Its important for hardwick to kick a few arses during the course of the season. Keep the players hungry and working hard to keep their spot. Media is setting us up with the premiership favorite talk, hardwick needs to keep our players minds on the job until the job is done again. The team we have now is at least a 2 time premiership winning team if not 3, we have still work to do to complete the job.
