Riewoldt still kicking Tasmanian goals

Richmond premiership forward Jack Riewoldt will follow in the footsteps of father Chris, to be inducted into the Tasmanian Football Hall of Fame.

Dedicated player and administrator Athol Hodgetts will also be inducted for his contributions on and off the field, with both inductions to take place at the upcoming gala dinner at Wrest Point on June 23.

Hailing from a famous footballing family, Jack Riewoldt made his senior debut for Clarence in 2005, aged 16.

After three standout performances at the under-18 championships, senior VFL games with the Tasmanian Devils and a premiership medal with Clarence, Riewoldt was selected by Richmond with pick 13 in the 2006 national draft.

In 2010 he claimed Richmond’s best and fairest, the first of two All-Australian jumpers and the Coleman Medal as the leading goal-kicker, Richmond’s first since fellow Tasmanian Michael Roach in 1980. A second Coleman followed in 2012.

Riewoldt was a member of the Tiger team that broke a 37-year premiership drought with a stunning grand final upset over Adelaide earlier this year and has topped the goal-kicking list for eight straight seasons.

Remember when he first started, he was a bit like Higgins, super pumped about playing AFL and keen to kick arse.   He has been awesome.
