TIGER TIERS

Estimate of Richmond’s pay bands

TOP TIER
Dustin Martin ($1.2m-$1.3m)

NEXT TIER
Alex Rance, Trent Cotchin, Jack Riewoldt, Dion Prestia.

Rance, Cotchin and Riewoldt have all stayed loyal and passed up rival deals while being paid an estimated $800,000, while Prestia signed a lucrative five-year deal on over $700,000.

MIDDLE TIER
Josh Caddy, Bachar Houli, Shaun Grigg, David Astbury, Dylan Grimes, Toby Nankervis, Brandon Ellis, Shane Edwards, Nick Vlastuin.

Like all clubs the Tigers have a solid middle tier, but some players including David Astbury (a three-year deal in 2016) signed before their brilliant 2017 seasons. Houli is a restricted free agent, making him among the top 10 paid players, but talks haven’t started yet on a new deal.

CHEAP
Kane Lambert, Daniel Rioli, Shaun Hampson, Reece Conca, Kamdyn McIntosh.

Lambert signed a more lucrative extension in August last year, while Hampson has played only 35 games since the start of 2014. Vlastuin and Lambert will move into the next pay bracket if they haven’t already.

DIRT CHEAP
Dan Butler, Jason Castagna, Anthony Miles, Sam Lloyd, Oleg Markov, Jacob Townsend, Jack Graham, Nathan Broad, Shai Bolton, Patrick Naish, Connor Menadue.

Butler, Castagna, Townend and Graham have signed new deals, Broad is about to start talks, while cut-price Castagna was on a $70,000 base last year before his two-year extension.

Wow, Castagna on $70,000 base.

I hope he had some good incentives in his deal.
