81,000?
and sold out?
-
Public tickets were sold out. That doesn't include the MCC, AFL members & corporate areas. The MCG were expecting a total crowd of 86k, so 5000 didn't turn up from the non-public areas.

Need to understand that over 40k seats are MCC & AFL members areas.
Competing trams cannot fill the MCG
Last night MCC area about 1/3 full. There's 10k empty seats
The crowd size at MCG will always be determined by how many MCC & AFL members turn up, not by how mamy competing team fans turn up

Big games should be ticketed only.
If by 2 days before the game the AFL and MCC reserve isn’t sold out then it goes back to the general public to purchase those tickets.
-
A large % of seats are home game reserved too,so a few of them wouldn’t have turned up too
They don’t count on the attendance unless they actually go

2nd bit That's never going to happen
Even for ticketed games, what you are suggesting doesn't happen and won't happen
Think it should but it won't

Been saying it for years - they claim its their god given right as an MCC member to rock up whenever they choose
