So apparently its just been announced that this game will be played on Sat 25 Aug at 2.10pm at the MCG. I'm coming down from the GC with my kids, son's girlfriend and wanting to take my brother. My question is: will my kids and myself be able to get in on the day using our membership and only paying for the girlfriend and brother and all sit in GA (which I dont' have a problem with) or do I bite the bullet and purchase tickets beforehand?

Youll be right unless all 100K richmond members turn up :rollin
-
You will be fine

It’ll be like the GWS prelim

SUMMARY
It's confirmed – the Tigers are minor premiers after their eight-point win over Essendon on Friday night. It was their 17th victory for the season, which moved them two games clear of the second-placed West Coast. With a host of key players, including captain Trent Cotchin, to return to the side after missing the Bombers' game with minor soreness, the Tigers will look to field as strong a line-up as possible against the Dogs as a dress rehearsal for the weeks to come. Standing in their way of maintaining winning momentum going into the finals are the in-form Bulldogs, who have won their past three games. The late-season purple patch isn't enough for the Dogs to make a last-minute bid for a finals berth but it has seen them knock off St Kilda, North Melbourne and Carlton in consecutive weeks to give them some positive vibes to end their season on.
WHERE AND WHEN: the MCG, Saturday, August 25, 2.10pm AEST
LAST FIVE MEETINGS
R7, 2017, Western Bulldogs 11.14 (80) d Richmond 11.9 (75) at Etihad Stadium
R16, 2016, Western Bulldogs 12.13 (85) d Richmond 11.9 (75) at Etihad Stadium
R2, 2015, Western Bulldogs 12.13 (85) d Richmond 9.12 (66) at the MCG
R3, 2014, Western Bulldogs 15.10 (100) d Richmond 15.8 (98) at Etihad Stadium
R13, 2013, Richmond 17.19 (121) d Western Bulldogs 8.13 (61) at Etihad Stadium
THE SIX POINTS
1. In a quirk of the fixture, these two sides will meet for the first time this season in the final round. The Dogs have the run of form in recent head-to-heads, having won the past four encounters; three of which have been at Etihad Stadium.
2. Standing in the way of the Dogs ending the season on a winning note is the second-best defence in the competition. The Tigers are conceding an average of just 70 points a game, which will challenge the Dogs given they're one of the lowest-scoring sides this season.
3. Do the Tigers have the right to be peeved at the umpires? The free kick count suggests they may have a case; they're last for free kicks per game this season and have won the count on just three occasions. The Bulldogs are equal sixth for free kicks.
4. It will be just the second time the Bulldogs will line up at the MCG this season. At the other end of the scale are the Tigers, who are aiming for their 14th win there this year and 21st in a row.
5. Marcus Bontempelli has collected 35 and 37 disposals in the past two weeks, which gives him excellent momentum to repeat his 2017 heroics against the Tigers. In round seven last year, Bontempelli polled three Brownlow votes for his 27 disposals, one goal and nine tackles.
6. When it comes to the Schick AFL Player Ratings, young Tiger Jack Higgins gets the nod over Bulldog Ed Richards – but only just. Higgins is 427th overall while Richards is 429th, with the two ranked sixth and seventh in the first-year player rankings.
IT’S A BIG WEEK FOR…
The Tigers in general. They'll want to field a team as close to their finals line-up as possible after a few weeks of managing sore bodies. A win will be their 18th this year, which will confirm their most successful home-and-away season since 1982.
PREDICTION: Richmond by 32 points
http://www.afl.com.au/news/2018-08-20/match-preview-richmond-v-western-bulldogs
-
Tigers by 57 points and that will be with the dogs kicking a few late ones.
-
Hope how fortune changes dogs have owned us for a while.
-
Bont a chance for Tigers.

-
Richmond by 32?
They mean at quarter time?
-
Need to curb Daniels and exploit his lack of defensive pressure. Would love Rioli to play on him. Martin, Cotch and Prestia need to overpower Wallis Hunter and the Bont.
-
Would be nice to be clinical inside 50 for a change. Need to improve in this area, getting more inside 50s than most opponents but simply not getting the return we should.
-
I think 32 points is too neat. Either the Dogs will play for pride and take it right up to us, or they've already checked out like we did against the Swans a couple years ago and it will be a pumping.
-

Or the Dogs come out for the fight but we smash them in the first quarter and they give up.
-
The Dogs see us as their rivals and are counting on a repeat of their upset win over Essendon in 2000 .
Four things to watch: Richmond v Western Bulldogs
If it bleeds…
Something feels a little bit familiar about this week.
Here we are, about to run into a juggernaut who’ve strung together 20 straight at the MCG, late in the season. And probably not given much of a chance by most. You know where this is going…
Round 21, 2001. The Chris Grant game, the super-flood, whatever you want to call it. The underdogs roll the seemingly unbeatable Bombers.
Can we do it again? As the Beach Boys once sang (yes, the one on the Cadbury ad for the younger set), wouldn’t it be nice?
Into the fury
In the for column, the Dogs have had a decent run against the Tigers in recent times.
In fact, a Luke Beveridge coached Bulldogs team has never lost to Richmond, and you’d have to go all the way back to 2013 when the Tiges last saluted, a 10-goal pantsing of the Dogs at Etihad Stadium.
The Dogs have also won four of five at the MCG for what it’s worth.
But all of that said, the premiership favourites will be out for blood as they gear up for another September run, and you’d expect Damien Hardwick will pick his team accordingly.
So, the challenge is set and our boys will be ready.
Looks like a job for..
Who knows exactly where the magnets will be placed at 2:10 on Saturday, but one of the talking points during match committee this week will be what to do with Jack Riewoldt
The former Killers singer has reasonable history against the Dogs, kicking 25 goals in his last seven outings. But that’s not all, in a throwback to the glory days of the flying full forward, he torched the Suns for 10 a fortnight ago.
As he said on Fox Footy this week, he will also will have the Coleman in his sights, so he’ll be on. If Aaron Naughton is to finally snag a well-deserved Rising Star nomination…
Derailing the Tiger train
As Bob Murphy wrote here, the Tigers v Dogs clashes are a little bit of a forgotten rivalry. We only need to cast out mind back to the Liberatore v Knights bout of 2001 when the Libba Snr earned himself a five week holiday for whacking the former Richmond skipper, and on top of that there’s also been a bit of movement between the clubs over the years as well.
On the back of that the boys on the Freedom in a Cage podcast have named the clash the Leon Cameron/Nathan Brown/Terry Wallace/Ben Harrison Cup.
But how much does a history, if it’s not recent, leak into a today’s game? Hard to say. But one thing that will need to be addressed is the Tiger defence. The Rance-Grimes set up is the second stingiest in the comp, so if the Dogs are going to derail the Richmond train, penetrating that wall will be at the top of the list.
Is it Saturday yet?

-
Thats the second time this week iv read we are the 2nd stringiest in the comp where we are actually the best unless they are measuring this by something other than points against.......
-
Need a good solid hit out and put 4 qtrs all together.Better forward efficiency and lets win the contested ball to.
-
Richmond have circled the contested footy as a key marker for their last hitout before the AFL finals begin.

At least it's been addressed if we can get that even half our way makes us even tougher to beat.

FINAL INTERCHANGES
Richmond: Brandon Ellis, Jack Higgins, Reece Conca, Nathan Broad
Western Bulldogs: Toby McLean, Brad Lynch, Caleb Daniel, Bailey Williams

We're away.
Dusty starts forward.
Jack has Dale Morris on him.
-
50m to the Dogs. Even the commentators thought the Bulldog player had played on off his mark but the ump says 50 ::). First goal to them.
0 - 6
-
Dusty 1-2 with Caddy under pressure but Dusty calmly finds Jack on the lead. Goal!
Jack to 61 :gotigers
Rich 1.0-6
Dogs 1.0-6
6 mins Q1
-
Poor handball by Ellis in defence but thankfully the Dogs miss badly.
The Dogs get it back and goal.
6 - 12
Tackles: 2 - 10 :P
-
Lacklustre so far. Lucky the Dogs are butchering their chances.
Jack toe-poke to Dusty back to Jack (after his 3rd effort) to Higgins over to Rioli and he dribbles through a goal :gotigers.
Rich 2.0-12
WB 2.0-12
-
Goal to them.
12 - 18
I remember when Richo was penalised against Dunkley for shepherding like that on the line which cost us the game ::).
-
Dusty out of the middle, to Sheds to Graham who marks and strikes straight back :gotigers.
Rich 3.0-18
WB 3.0-18
-
Jack drops a gettable mark.
Bontempelli in the tackle GAWN!
Graham nails his 2nd .
Rich 4.0-24
WB 3.0-18
-
They get it straight back beginning again via a free (against Houli)
24 all.
-
Remarkably, the free kick count is 6-1 against with 5 minutes to play in Q1...
-
Grigg set shot misses.
25 - 24
-
Rioli beats 1... 2... 3.... and finds Graham who kicks his 3rd :gotigers
Rich 5.1-31
WB 4.0-24
-
Another 50 to them. 2nd goal to them from 50m penalties.
31 - 30
-
9-1... and a disgraceful 50!
-
Free kick count 1-8. This umpiring is a disgrace. Club has to call this crap out.
-
Our only free kick was for a HTB too...
-
stuff me if this isn't a big stuff you from umpires to our club I dunno what is.
-
Again why dont they just give the opposition a 6 goal start and then umpire fairly. Even the HTB we got the umpire gave him a good 30 seconds to get the ball out, HTB against us they cant get the whistle in the mouth quick enough. :banghead
-
We are on target for 4 frees... lol
I don’t get the holding the ball decisions. Ball gets knocked out in a tackle and it gets paid against us ever week. Yet, we tackle, spin the player 720 degrees and they throw it out and it’s olay on.
Let’s just hope we get an even rub of the green over the next month.
-
Our defence needs to lift their intensity. Our mids need to clean up their disposal.
The dogs are more intense than we are at the minute.
-
Quarter time
Richmond 5.1 (31)
WB 6.0 (36)
Goals: Graham 3, Riewoldt, Rioli.
2nd qtr just started.
-
ROFL someone has had a word
-
Lift the intensity tigers and work harder and not clean enough.
-
Any chance Higgins and George could hit a target?
-
Dogs slicing us open through the middle and not going for the long kick in kick inns short kick and keeping it off.
-
If only Castagna could finish ... he does some magic stuff, great competitor but gee it's like a whole lot of teasing and then leaving ya hanging
-
Half-time
Richmond 5.1 7.7-49
WB 6.0 8.3-51
Goals: Graham 3, Riewoldt, Rioli, Martin, Caddy.
Jack playing with the Coleman on his mind? Got a bit of the yips (dropped mark, missed set shot). Hawkins with only one goal too down at Geelong by the way.
-
Need to get back to basics team first and lift a bit.Few guys playing for best 22 so need a good showing.
-
We're playing bruise free footy. Just 19 tackles in a half of footy is pathetic.
-
Dogs beating us with goals from stoppages (2 goals to 5) while we're wasting our scoring chances from turnovers (6.6 to 5.1)
Any chance Higgins and George could hit a target?
Or tackle. Applying forward pressure is one of their main jobs.
Higgins 2
Castagna 1
Rioli 0
-
Well it's a good wake up call and good dress rehearsal as dogs playing similar to hawks.
-
I don’t know why we aren’t hunting the ball carrier? We seem to be content on the ol’ corral.
It’s no wonder they are kicking at nearly 80% at the minute theirs absolutely zero defensive pressure on the player which is supposedly our one wood.
How about we smash them and see them cough it up. Maybe the boys are worried about getting injured.
-
Yeah we are letting em run very free atm, they got runners with no pressure on em all over the joint
-
We're mentally off. When did Grimes last make such a bad handball error in defence.
Point to them. 49 - 52
-
how many throws are these pricks getting away with!!!
-
B Ellis is costing himself a finals spot today. Turnover king
-
Conca goes inside 50 and Nank marks 40 out. Goal! :gotigers
That's more like it. Back in front!
Rich 8.7-55
WB 8.5-53
-
Conca towards prestia off to Short to Georgie. To the hot spot but it's marked uncontested by a Dog defender.
We get it back via Astbury to Rance to Dusty. Finds Floss 65 out. Inside 50. Nank has a ping but it's rushed.
56 - 53
-
Kick-in is marked by Dusty 55 out. Goes short and turns it over :scream.
Cotch cops it straight in the back (no free ::) ). Ball-up. Dusty gets first hands but fumbles and Dogs clear.
Nank shows some candy to himself. But we turn it over again.
Grimes now to Prestia. Goes inside 50 but to no one. Higgins is pinged for HTB ::). #freekickbulldogs
-
Nank to Ellis by hand but it's too hot. Nank recovers it to Dusty to Jack. Another push in the back not paid ::).
Ball-up 30 out. Caddy snaps but it's wide and luckily just clips the line. Throw-in. Jack bats it down to George who finally snaps a goal :gotigers
Rich 9.8-62
WB 8.6-54
-
another umpire turnover and goal
-
Young Higgins looks to be having a shocker from what I have seen
-
Dusty out of the middle. Now Jack is pinged for a push in the back by the same up that wouldn't pay two to us in the last 5 minutes ::).
Dogs go up the other end for a goal :banghead.
62 - 60
-
That female umpire either has no stuffing clue what she is doing, is a moron or is a dogs supporter
-
Another mark inside 50 to them. They're 9th.
62 - 66
The Dogs are efficient when they do inside 50 while we are again butchering our chances.
-
Grigg to Houli who goes long and Jack marks. Goal! :gotigers
Jack up to 62. Needs one more for 600.
Hawkins also has 2.
Back in front.
Rich 10.8-68
WB 10.6-66
-
We actually got a free. Dusty loops it to Macca on the boundary 40 out. Goal! :gotigers
Great kick :clapping.
Rich 11.8-74
WB 10.6-66
21 mins Q3
-
Inside 50s this qtr: 15 - 8 but we're bopping it on Jack's head. It's why we want Lynch.
Nank chops off the Dogs kick. Finds Conca forward of centre. Inside 50. Scramble. Graham to Dusty to Jack who gets the free.
Going for career goal 600.
Gets it :clapping :gotigers
Rich 12.8-80
WB 10.6-66
-
Another goal to them when they go inside 50 :banghead.
80 - 72
-
The umpire Pennel it's his last game today umpiring and his a mad dogs fan go figure how the afl allows that to happen.
-
3/4 time
Richmond 5.1 7.7 12.8-80
WB 6.0 8.3 11.6-72
Goals: Graham 3, Riewoldt 3, Rioli, Martin, Caddy, Castagna, Nankervis, McIntosh.
-
Dusty would be an even better player if he was a bit more selfish, geez sometimes he just hands off when he could simply break open the opposition single handedly. So frustrating to watch the ball being turned over when a Dusty kick could go 60 metres.
-
Not happy with our midfield pressure and tackling to easy our defence has been ordinary to.Got to go bang finish it off with a big quarter before bye and kill the game not letting dogs in.
-
Macca to Jack amongst 3 and he still marked it. Goal! :gotigers
Jack up to 64
Rich 13.8-86
WB 11.6-72
-
JR8 noice. We are playing bruise free and just trying to avoid injuries imo
-
Can we actually stop them marking easily inside their F50? :banghead
86 - 78
We're using Cotch sparingly. Still on the bench.
-
Broad having a Barry today, doesnt look like taking a mark or a getting a kick for that matter.
-
Ellis intercepts to Higgins. Off to Dusty and Jack marks 46 out on a 50 degree angle. Goal! :gotigers
Up to 65.
Rich 14.8-92
WB 12.6-78
-
Put the foot to the pedal now want us to have a big final hit out this quarter no letting dogs in. :gotigers
-
Did the umpires just let the dogs play on when everyone had stopped for that injury?
-
Dog k.o.-ed and off on a stretcher after colliding with a teammate.
Again another simple mark to them 25 out :banghead.
Thankfully Bont missed.
92 - 79
-
Another mark to them inside 50 :banghead. Poster though.
92 - 80
-
Way to many easy entry's for them today.Need to get on with it here.
-
Prestia drills it to Jack. Hooks it though and doesn't score.
We get it back. It goes through jack's hands but the Dog defender slips and Jack unselfishly hands it to George for a goal :gotigers
Rich 15.8-98
WB 12.8-80
20 mins Q4
-
Another easy answering goal to them :banghead
98 - 86
-
Another mark to them inside 50 :banghead. Must be up to 15 for them :banghead.
Luckily another poster.
98 - 87
-
Grimes marks but the ump pays #freekickBulldogs.
98 - 93
23 min Q4
-
oh here we go... Geez UMPIRE to turn the tide of the game in the last few minutes?~!!!
-
Told yas, hollywood
-
Finishing last quarters been poor of late.
-
#freekickBulldogs for another set shot.
Misses.
98 - 94
26 min Q4
3 mins to go.
Frees: 9 - 19 ::)
-
Can you believe this garbage?????
-
Frame it. Well actually got a free kick. Mind you D50.
-
Poster to the Dogs.
98 - 95
Just need to maintain possession.
-
Grimes marks the kick-in.
Siren!
We win :gotigers
-
Umpiring is utter digrace.
-
They know how to suck the joy out of a win don't they
-
Want to play better than that in 2 weeks.
Major issues with the way it's going inside 50. Will cost us if it doesn't improve. When our pressure is off we are right back in the pack.
Umpiring an absolute disgrace today. Twice as many free kicks to the other team.
-
The Butler needs to play, lets hope his ankle comes up.
-
Umpiring is utter digrace.
again :banghead
-
Final Score
Richmond 5.1 7.7 12.8 15.8-98
W.Bulldogs 6.0 8.3 11.6 14.11-95
Goals: Riewoldt 5, Graham 3, Castagna 2, Rioli, Martin, Caddy, Nankervis, McIntosh.
Well if Dimma wanted a close game rather than a blowout he got his wish :-\.
-
Brando really poor today will be sweating on his spot, broad also very quiet but being more of a key position type don’t see him losing his spot. On the other end thought kmac was excellent. Think it’s down to Bellis/Conca/Higgins for last two spots with lambert and butler coming back in.
-
We need to wear our away strip in finals and test that psychologists theory out about the numptypires
-
Surreal experience watching it today . Credit to the Bulldogs who came to play . I wonder how many of our players went into self preservation mode with much bigger fish to fry coming up .
Also what motivation did we really have to go full bore . Corresponding round last year we were fighting for a top position. This year we are two games clear on top .
Looking forward to watching the real Richmond in the finals .
-
The dogs can play alright, credit to them for a good contest. Deadly in front of the sticks, lucky they were tired at the end and fluffed the deal sealers.
-
Bruise free footy today.... Not surprising at all really.
-
Dogs exposed us tho like eagles did our weakness this year.Didnt kick it long to our defenders advantage short kicks retain possession and build up and switch it if it's on.Highly skilled teams can trouble us like that if they sustain it.How do we counter it.
-
I know Jack was on the coleman, but I reckon Dimma wouldn't be happy with that been to much focused on him of late in our 50.Need the small band up and firing pressure and tackling and hitting the scoreboard in finals.
-
Missing Butler and need to add Stengle's decision making and delivery...best in the club.... :shh
-
...and Edwards need to pull his head in with lairy handballs....... :shh :shh
-
..and we're missing far too many tackles lately too.... :shh :shh :shh

Dogs (almost) beat Tigers at their own game
The Bulldogs took it to the Tigers for four quarters. From the opening bounce, Luke Beveridge's men played a high-risk, high-reward brand of footy which comprised of playing-on at every opportunity, using the corridor and utilising forward handballs – tactics Richmond has mastered. Too often this season, opposition sides have too apprehensive to play an attacking style of football against the reigning premiers. But the Dogs, led by star midfielder Jack Macrae (43 disposals, seven tackles and one goal) and Lachie Hunter (35 and five inside 50s) were outstanding through the midfield, with stellar support from Josh Dunkley (28 and two goals) and Caleb Daniel (29). It would have been one of the upsets of the season, but three shots on goal from the Dogs during the final term hit the post, including Brad Lynch's shot with less than one-minute remaining.

was a lot of lackadaisical out there today. The amount of uncontested marks and WB players running free blew my mind.
-
Daniel looked like he was suffering from some kind of infectious disease the way we kept our distance from him all day... :shh

A bit of perspective fellas obviously we weren’t at our best but apart from the few playing for their spot in the finals there was absolutely nothing to play for in this game. We won the game, finished the season with 6/6 wins and are on a 21 game win streak at the G. Most importantly we didn’t pick up any injuries (that I know of) and the only 2 players missing from our best team are likely to be available come week 1 of the finals.
Like dimma said, if we play like that in a couple of weeks we will be beaten but let’s give the players a little bit of credit that they understand the difference between a qualifying final and a round 23 game where the result is meaningless.

We al hope so. But the efforts in the last few weeks probably since the Geelong game, hasn’t been the Richmond way and we can’t afford to be off in the one thing that makes us who we are.
-
Bruise free footy today.... Not surprising at all really.
Yep
But have to say I'm not a fan

I guess we will find out soon enough

Especially when he almost got knocked out going back with the flight in the last minute of the game when the Dogs were on a rampage. Super soft.
Dimma was rapt with him. The calls for his dropping are funny outside the 4 walls of the RFC so I hear :shh

That last qtr effort was excellent it is a number "efforts /contests" before that are the issue here. Hell even Dusty had BEliis-itis yesterday. It was contagious

I don’t think he should be dropped for being soft necessarily but I thought coming into the game he was in a group of 4 players who were fighting to keep their spots with lambert and butler due back for finals and his performance yesterday was the worst of the lot.
Surely even you thought he had a poor game AT and out of him, conca, kmac, Higgins and you can maybe even throw in broad his position looks to be most at risk.

Wasn't his best day that's for sure, but he's been mostly solid for a few months now. A few average games but a number of good ones. He gets ridden harder than pretty much anyone else. Lambert onto Higgins wing makes the most sense for mine. Butler is no certainty to fit enough for finals after his time out IMO.
