We struggle to beat them this year.

We struggle to beat them this year.
We've never beaten since we've regained our own reserves side. It was 1906 or sometime around then since we last beat Willy.

What are the lights like at pro??
-
Been past at night and seem OK for training but a bit surprised, they don't seem real great for a match. Be interesting.
-
What are the lights like at pro??
We've played twilight games there in the middle of winter
They are deemed acceptable for VFL football not AFL.
They only need to be VFL standard
-
What are the lights like at pro??
Lights aren’t up to standard for televised games at night
Lux levels are approx 150/200 which is ok for training etc
Ideally they need to have a Lux level of 400 plus
Vic government states AFL match needs to be 500 Lux
The 150 Lux will be poor for TV
Expect it will come across on TV similar to AFLW games at Carlton which were very average

Should have bought them from Thorn,,,,,,,, :whistle
-
They actually should of
Instead of the LED rubbish they currently have
But hey , what would I know 😂😂🤔
-
Hopefully they truck some in for this game
-
Hopefully they truck some in for this game
Issue is the portable floods you cannot get high enough as the permanent poles already there. This creates glare in which it would “ blind the players “and thus lose ball in the lights

Is that enough time for Butler to get up?
-
Butler and Kane Lambert can run out in Richmond's Saturday night qualifying final against Williamstown, but Dion Prestia – if the Tigers wanted to boost his match fitness after an interrupted season – cannot.
Prestia played in the Tigers' round 23 win over the Western Bulldogs and is therefore ineligible.
Butler is on track to play limited minutes ahead of the Tigers' AFL qualifying final against Hawthorn on September 6, but Lambert is likely to be held over from the VFL and put his hand straight up for senior selection.

It's a Quali Final

Lambert stiff to miss. His stats looked good for his first game last wee. I'd almost prefer him to Cellis

Don’t know how this ended up here
But just went past punt road and they have a stack
Of portable lights on cranes going

SuperFooty looks at the AFL listed players who will be running around in the VFL this weekend
EDITOR ON DUTY:
Toby Prime and Chris Cavanagh
September 1, 2018 9:00am
RICHMOND small forward Dan Butler will make his return from a near two-month injury lay-off through the VFL as he pushes for a qualifying final return.
Butler played the first 15 games of the season, but has not featured since Richmond’s Round 16 win over Adelaide in early July when he aggravated an ankle injury he had been carrying.
The premiership player will make his comeback through the state league when Richmond meets Williamstown in a qualifying final under lights at Punt Road.
Richmond football manager Neil Balme said this week it would be unlikely Butler would face Hawthorn on Thursday night due to the five-day turnaround.
VFL coach Craig McRae said Butler, 22, would be on restricted minutes and the Tigers’ match committee would monitor his form against the Seagulls.
“I suppose probably three or four weeks ago you would have questioned whether he was going to be able to get up at all and return for the rest of the year,” McRae said.
“Just watching him train this week, he’s moving really well so the signs are good.
“At this stage you can only go on what you see.
“In his training form this week, he looks like he’s running without any restriction and changing direction really well.”
Butler had kicked 18 goals for the season and averaged three tackles and five score involvements before his injury setback to become an important player in Richmond’s quest for back-to-back flags.
RICHMOND V WILLIAMSTOWN
Saturday, 7.10pm, Punt Rd Oval
All eyes will be on Tigers premiership forward Dan Butler, who is set to make his return after being sidelined since Round 16 with an ankle injury. He will play limited game time, with Richmond mindful there is only five days between the VFL clash and Thursday night’s AFL qualifying final with Hawthorn. Kane Lambert (ankle) will not be risked but the club will not hesitate to bring him straight back in against the Hawks. Sam Lloyd, who has played seven AFL games this season, responded from being dropped to the VFL with 33 disposals and two goals last weekend and will again push his case for a finals recall. Other AFL-listed players who will be looking to do the same include Liam Baker, Corey Ellis and Connor Menadue.

The lights are up to VFL/AFL training standards
( same standards )
But
They are no where near standards that would allow for television.( same as Carlton )
Thus they have trucked it light towers
What will be interesting is that the current lights are LED floods and they ones they have craned in looked like Metal Halide floods. Completely different light source . Might be ok but doubt it
RFC huge mistake installing what they have down in their lighting
Why go and spend 400k on lighting when you have to truck in extra lights to get to a decent standard🤔🤔
-
Well, I'm assuming Seven or the VFL are paying for the extra lighting as its as metric that relates to the broadcast?
Also, why would the club spend a huge amount of money they don't need to? Flood lighting is extremely expensive to build, run and maintain.

Better off doing it right the first time though
Current lighting cost 400k
Do it correctly the first time . An extra 50k

Garthwaite and Lloyd out?

Yep. Both are out.
Sam Lloyd and Ryan Garthwaite not taking their place in tonight’s @RichmondVFL lineup.

Eggs is playing like he’s had lessons from JON. :rollin
We are seeing somethings from this kid.
1st Qtr - Can’t kick, can’t spoil can’t mark.
2nd Qtr - can’t tackle.
-
When I watch Markov I think of Brandon Ellis and everything that is different about them.
Markov has poise, skill and most of all he doesn’t shirk a contest as cool as a cucumber when under pressure.
.......B. Ellis on the other hand has nice white teeth. :rollin

Balta, Aarts and Stengle with the goals so far in the 2nd qtr.
Rich 5.5-35
Willy 4.4-28
16 mins Q2

Coleman-Jones is currently showing us so far that he’s way off the pace and probably won’t make it.
-
Stock standard from Steve Morris gving away stupid frees
And Ballard, never lets me down, very poor
-
Last 2 goals to Willy. They're on top.
Rich 5.5-35
Willy 6.6-42
25 mins Q2
-
Ellis in traffic on the wing kicks long and CJ marks 70 out. Short to Miles. Goes long. Stengle's snap is smothered. Thompson snaps but it's across goal for a throw-in. Willy clear.
Miller gathers and gets it back on the overlap. Gets to Thompson who repeats his miss for a throw-in. Willy clear.
We get it back on the wing. Markov now 60 out. Goes to the hot spot. Soldo can't mark. Scramble for the ball and Willy clear. Siren.
Half-time
Richmond 2.4 5.5-35
Williamstown 2.2 6.6-42
Goals: Butler, C.Ellis, Balta, Stengle, Aarts.
Miles has only had 8 touches.
-
Stock standard from Steve Morris gving away stupid frees

Harsh on Morris, he won the footy. Bloke going for the ball gets penalised :huh A poo rule that will get tossed out next year.

Not talkimg about that one, couple pf earlier ones
Agree it's a stupid rule but the rule wont get tossed, we are stuck with it
-
Probably harsh on the 23rd man (Thompson) whose probably a kid but he should have at least made the distance from 35m out at this level. It's cost us at least a goal (or two). The second one was directly in front on the run but it went up, under and sideways to the pocket :P.
-
Morris 11
Markov 10
C.Ellis 10
Miles 8
Disposals 146 - 165
Contested: 78 - 78
Uncont. 67 - 85
Tackles: 25 - 41
-
Willy is dominating.
Players unsighted for us.
Coleman Jones.
Moore.
Miller.
Butler (besides his first goal)
Miles has been down on his normal output.
Silverstro is supposed to be on gibbons but that guy keeps on getting he ball.
Ballard has been quiet.
Because our tall forwards are playing crap our smalls haven’t had much of a sniff.
Balta has been excellent. Looks the only one that is trying hard.
Soldo is ok but his taps aren’t really effective. Hasn’t done much around the The ground.
Markov looks good. Morris has been solid. C Ellis has been ok. Stengle has been good with limited opportunities. Aarts ok.
As a team we aren’t tackling. Willy look the team to beat as they are ferocious at the man and the contest.
I don’t think we will win this.
-
This mob just seem to have our measure, they defend with numbers then break really hard. It also seems they are always in the right place after a spoil or quick kick over the shoulder, luck or good positioning I don’t know but it’s peeing me awff
-
Agree with the above.
They’re like North - they never play as well against anyone else as they do us.
Shame, I thought a resounding win here might set the whole club up for the finals run.
-
Butler has had 3 possies. Not sure of his minutes on the ground as we would be managing him. Tom Browne saying Butler is moving well and is a chance to play on Thursday night.
-
Coffield gone for the night injured. With Butler on limited time we're now down a number or two on the bench.
Miles slammed in a dangerous tackle. Willy player reported.
Being hampered with no big key forward. Ballard at FF tonight.
-
First goal of the 3rd quarter to Willy.
35 - 48
5 of the last 6 goals to them.
Sums up our night so far. We had about 5 chances to go forward but can't get a possession past HF. Willy then hit us on the rebound.
-
So many Looking totally disinterested
Tempted to go early and say give me the stuff, we're done
-
Woeful. Fumbling and running over the ball gifts them another goal.
35 - 54
-
So many Looking totally disinterested
Tempted to go early and say give me the stuff, we're done
There’s no way I can see us winning this game.
-
It’s all over
Hopefully it’s not a sign of things to come
-
Butler needs minutes in his legs not worried about goals or possessions.
-
Seriously that goal
The lack of effort by Menadue was disgraceful. Just stood and watched
-
So many Looking totally disinterested
Tempted to go early and say give me the stuff, we're done
No system. Our HBs look up and stop.
ps. We're terrible but these umps are having a mare also. Apparently you can just push a forward going for the mark without looking at the ball ::). Umps then give Willy 50 ::).
-
This umpiring is doing my head in.
-
This umpiring is doing my head in.
Agree it's pathetic
But seriously the lack of effort by so many, refusing to chase, tackle and apply any pressure is exceptionally disappointing
-
Balta and Markov our best.
So much fumbling from everyone else
-
Goal out of nothing to Moore. Long by Balta. Goes through everyone. The last line Willy defender punches it back to Moore who quickly blindly snaps it through.
Rich 6.5-41
Willy 8.6-54
-
Butler done for the night. Done his minutes.
-
Good to see Eggs take a screamer because I was beginning to think he’s another JON.
Now if he can kick and handpass and get the ball he might be ok.
-
Butler done for the night, 3 touches, 2 tackles and a goal, moved we’ll and got the required minutes into the legs
-
How many times have fumbled and ran under the ball tonight?! :banghead.
Eggy took a good mark in defence. Goes long to CJ who should have taken the mark uncontested on the lead. However, it ran under it and Willy from the turnover goal :scream.
41 - 60
-
Good to see Eggs take a screamer because I was beginning to think he’s another JON.
Now if he can kick and handpass and get the ball he might be ok.
Harsh call, he’s been out all season.
-
Yeah of course ump you signalled the wrong way. The only way is to Williamstown tonight ::).
Willy defender goes straight to the boundary and it's not paid deliberate ::).
-
Geez soldo is a potato
-
Umps having a Barry Crocker
-
Callum Moore please stand up
-
Game stopped because some of the lights have gone out
How pathetic
-
Game stopped because some of the lights have gone out
How pathetic
Funny about the lights 😉😂
-
So why does soldo stand the mark and not go in defence to take a defending mark? Without Garthwaite our defence is all at sea.
I think we’ve gone. Can’t see us winning this game with the way the boys are playing. We aren’t playing a pressure game at all.
Willy on the other hand are playing awesome.
-
Game stopped. 26 mins Q3. One of the lights has gone out. At least it stops Willy's momentum. McRae better get stuck into them and figure a way to turn this game around.

Good to see the umpiring standard in Richmond games carries over to vfl level too.....

::)
-
There back on
-
Free kicks: 7 - 20
::)
Seriously how can you only get 7 free kicks in almost 3 quarters of footy!
-
So game at Richmond's home ground. Richmond behind by 3 goals with Williamstown with the momentum and the fixed lights go out.
No skullduggery from Richmond 😁
-
3/4 time has been called. They will add the extra 5 mins onto the last quarter.

Why did we have a warm up session after the match was stopped over the lighting only for the officials to decide to end the quarter & add extra time to the last? :-\

Just quoting Ch 7. They were saying the lights would come back on 10 mins later.
Anyway they are back on.
-
Why did we have a warm up session after the match was stopped over the lighting only for the officials to decide to end the quarter & add extra time to the last? :-\
To keep warm to avoid any soft tissue injuries. Both sides did a warm-up session.
-
Shocking by Stengle. We finally break their press and Stengle who could have gone for goal kicks a grubber 'pass' that missed the target and stuffs up a clear goal chance.
Frees: 7 - 22
-
Stupid by Aarts, really stupid :banghead
-
Well that's that
-
Game over.
41 - 67
We're playing a mixture of dumb and lax footy.
-
Found out tonight. Can't handle the pressure of senior bodies.
Callum Moore, delist
-
The umpiring is somehow getting worse.
-
LOL. 0 - 4 in frees this qtr.
Total frees: 7 - 24
-
Miles acrobatic mark 30 out. Up to 20 possies now.
Misses :P.
42 - 67
-
We actually got a free kick :o.
-
Reckon a few efforts tonight have made some list management decisions alot easier
-
Ballard hasn’t hit one target by hand all game. :banghead
He’s been really dissapointing tonight.
-
Ballard hasn’t hit one target by hand all game. :banghead
He’s been really dissapointing tonight.
You seem surprised?
What he has dished up tonight is what I see everytime I watch our VFL side.
-
With all our outs we are carrying too many sub-standard players tonight who can't even perform the basic skills of the game.
By the way, the official explanation for the lights going out is the "thermal computer" shutdown the lights because a globe overheated.
-
The umps have just said if the lights go out again they will continue to play.
Morris in the defensive goalsquare under pressure kicks it OOTF.
42 - 71
18 mins (13 mins taking into account the 5 extra mins from the 3rd qtr)
-
Time in fwd half this qtr: 90% to Willy.
Finally we get out of our back-half this. Baker hits Ballard 35 out. Misses.
One of those games where we can't do anything right :P.
43 - 72
-
Get it forward and finally put on some forward pressure. Baker did well again. Aarts with the goal.
Rich 7.7-49
Will 10.12-72
23 mins Q4 (18 mins)
-
Playing on through the corridor. Naish long and Ballard marks 30 out. Doesn't miss this time.
Rich 8.7-55
Will 10.12-72
24 min Q4 (19 mins + 5minQ3)
-
Surely we need to find a backup ruck. Soldo is young and learning but sometimes doesn't even try to put his arm up to tap the ball :help
-
Markov is done too. They want him as an option for Thursday night.
So we are 3 down on the bench.
-
That's it. Poor option plus missed target going back into the corridor and then Naish gets tackled from behind ... turnover and Willy go forward. From the throw-in in the pocket they kick a goal.
55 - 79
-
Soldo isn’t any good. His taps don’t do anything or go anywhere. He’s too slow. Doesn’t impact the game in any other manner.
He’s basically another version of Hamspud.
-
Moore had been very poor.
-
Only watched from just before the lights went out but from then we have been poor all round.
Disappointed
-
Final Score
Richmond 2.4 5.5 6.5 8.7-55
Williamstown 2.2 6.6 9.6 11.14-80
Goals: Aarts 2, Moore, Butler, Balta, C.Ellis, Stengle, Ballard
-
They are stronger for longer. The umps... :help some of the VFL players really spudded it up tonight along with some listed players. Balta early was the only highlight.
-
Go the Town
The only time I’ll barrack against the Tiges
Old man a deceased life member, former chairman of selectors and president
Proud of the effort at Willy
-
Forget about anyone tonight seeing any senior action in the finals.
Miles 25
Ellis 22
Baker 21
Disposals: 305 -330
Tackles: 67 - 98
Clearances: 35 - 51
Inside 50s: 51 - 50
-
Only watched from just before the lights went out but from then we have been poor all round.
Disappointed
Didn’t miss much. The whole game Willy was more desperate and their pressure was way above ours the whole match. I personally think we were lucky to get away with only a 25 point loss to be honest.
No many players can lift their heads high for us.
Balta was good first half but was quiet second half.
Miller was quiet first half and was ok last quarter.
Silvestro was poor. Ballard was poor. Moore was very poor. Naish was quiet. Menadue was poor. Eggmolesse-Smith was hopeless but took a great specky. Soldo was hopeless. Coleman-jones was better in the ruck than up forward. Looks a better option than Soldo.
Miles battled hard most game. C. Ellis was ok. Markov was good but was benched in the last as was Butler early. Baker was good. We really missed Lloyd and Garthwaite.
Willy deserves the win.

VFL Finals 2018: Lights go out at VFL finals between Richmond and Williamstown
EDITOR ON DUTY:
James Mottershead
Herald-Sun
1 Sep 2018
DAN Butler did enough in Richmond’s VFL loss on Saturday night to suggest he is ready for Thursday night’s Qualifying Final against Hawthorn.
Butler was on limited minutes and only played the first half, collecting three disposals to go with two tackles and a goal.
While it wasn’t an outstanding performance from Butler, it was enough to show Richmond’s coaches he has what it takes to make Hawthorn’s defenders nervous.
“I think that’s what we went into the game with some plan around what that could be like (Butler playing Thursday),” McRae said.
“At this stage he’s played a half and I thought he looked lively, we will just have to wait and see if he’s needed and if he pulls up ok.”
Butler’s spark could have come in handy in the second half when, remarkably, the existing lights at Punt Road Oval switched off for 19-minutes due to a computer malfunction, bringing the game to a halt.
“The lights going out probably helped us,” McRae laughed.
“I’ve never seen anything like it, it’s back to the Waverley days isn’t.
“There was a threat that it could be called off. It was a bit of a debacle.”
While Sam Lloyd and Ryan Garthwaite were kept safe for Thursday’s blockbuster, Corey Ellis went to work and put his hand up for a spot in September with 22 touches and a goal.
“I’m really proud of Corey, he’s one of those guys right until the end who is really willing to fight for the cause,” McRae said.
“He had a chase down with two minutes to go, that probably summed up his night.”
Anthony Miles finished the 11.14 (80) to 8.7 (55) loss with 25 disposals and five tackles, showing he is ready to fill a midfield void should it arise.

Match 'Highlights': http://www.richmondfc.com.au/video/2018-09-01/vfl-qf-match-highlights
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Lights out as Seagulls eclipse VFL Tigers
At the Swinburne Centre, under lights, for the most part, Williamstown won through to a preliminary final by 25 points, while Richmond VFL will have to cash-in its double chance.
The lights went out with 4:47 left to go in the third quarter, as the Seagulls held sway by 19 points.
After a substantial break in play, the lights fired back up and play resumed at the start of the final term.
Following the bizarre turn of events, Williamstown held-off a spirited Tiger stuff, eventually prevailing, 11.14 (80) to 8.7 (55).
In their previous two meetings in 2018, Williamstown has had Richmond’s measure and in their most recent encounter, the Seagulls toppled the Tigers by 44 points.
Richmond was determined to not let history repeat itself and it started the game in fine fashion.
The Tigers hunted the opposition from the get-go and brought its trademark pressure and set about stifling the Seagulls and grinding them into submission.
Returning from injury, Dan Butler suited up at VFL level for the first time since 2016 and made his presence felt instantly.
Butler ignited the Tiger Army with a classy goal to open proceedings.
The premiership Tiger played most of the opening half, before being managed after halftime with an eye to Thursday night’s AFL qualifying final.
Williamstown has an uncanny knack of answering back with a goal, and halting momentum, and it did just that.
The opening term was an arm-wrestle with both sides having their fair share of momentum, without capitalising.
Richmond was able to repeatedly pump the ball inside-50, but simply struggled to capitalise.
Corey Ellis got the Tigers’ second major on the board after chopping off an errant Seagulls’ kick-in and slotting the set-shot from beyond the arc.
The Seagulls would hit back, and the Tigers held a slender lead of two points at quarter-time.
Noah Balta has enjoyed a promising debut season at Tigerland and showed that he may be a finals wildcard judging by his sterling second quarter performance.
Balta’s as versatile as a Swiss army knife, and it was his work up forward and through the midfield that really impressed in the second term.
After out-pointing his opponent at the top of the goal-square, Balta went back and slotted a very important goal, handing the Tigers a seven-point lead.
Jake Aarts was the happy recipient of a stuff before the restart, and suddenly Richmond’s lead was pushed out to 13 points.
Unfortunately, Williamstown kicked in gear and slotted back-to-back goals to bring the margin back to a point before Tyson Stengle provided the highlight of the night.
Stengle soared from three deep and dragged down a hanger.
He coolly went back and slotted the goal, before the Lachy Schultz’s duo of majors handed the visitors a seven-point halftime lead.
Williamstown burst of the blocks in the second half, skating to a 19-point lead.
Callum Moore gave the Tiger faithful something to cheer about after he arrested the ball from congestion, snapping truly.
However, as it did all night, Williamstown hit back and then—the lights went out.
Play was halted, players, coaches and officials looked bewildered and eventually three-quarter time was called.
The time lost was added to the final term, where Richmond fought valiantly and got back into the contest.
Jacob Ballard dragged the margin back to within three goals and injected some hope into the hosts.
It was all to no avail, as Williamstown held firm and sealed a preliminary final spot and with it a week off to rest, recuperate and study its pending opponent.
Oleg Markov also returned from injury, playing three quarters before sitting out the final term.
Markov and Butler got through the game unscathed and will be good to go next week at either level.
Luckless Tiger defender, Dan Coffield injured his knee in the first five minutes of the game and took no further part.

Ballard hasn’t hit one target by hand all game. :banghead
He’s been really dissapointing tonight.
You seem surprised?
What he has dished up tonight is what I see everytime I watch our VFL side.
Correct. Just a VFL player at best.

Held over for the QF just in case they are needed to play

Thinking about last night further this morning, yes we were bad but it could work out for us as it gives players the opportunity to bat up again next week. Should Garth, Lloyd Butler not play Thursday night they will be better for a hit out during the weekend rather than another week off. Willy are a very good team but with the best young key defender at VFL level not playing and one of the best mids not playing, next time we could get them. Markov was good last night and will only get better next week...
Glass half full for me :gotigers

It is to our AFL team's benefit that our VFL team plays next week. Gives Butler a full game next week if he doesn't play Thursday night as expected. Had we won last night then Butler wouldn't play for another fortnight.

Balme urges AFL and VFL to 'talk' on scheduling

MORE communication between the AFL and VFL would help clubs field their best team for finals, Richmond football manager Neil Balme says.
The Tigers' reserves played on Saturday night at Punt Road while the senior side takes to the field just five days later, on Thursday at the MCG, against Hawthorn for a qualifying final.
Having so little time between games meant small forward Sam Lloyd and defender Ryan Garthwaite didn't take part in the VFL clash, which the Tigers lost to Williamstown.
"We thought they were very much the next players in line in the chop-up. For them to play two games in five days in a serious final is probably pretty hard to do," Balme told Channel Seven on Saturday.
"I just wish the AFL and the VFL would talk to each other. It might make it a bit easier for us."
Dan Butler seems unlikely to earn a recall after returning from ankle syndesmosis surgery in his first hit-out since Richmond's round 16 victory over Adelaide.
He picked up just three disposals and slotted a goal, but emerged unscathed.
Oleg Markov also came back from a knee issue.
"The draw's pretty tough for them. We've got to play on Thursday, after a Saturday game, which makes it pretty tough," Balme said.
"Dan was good. He hasn't played for a fair while. I thought he was OK, particularly early. We'll see what happens."
Meanwhile, Virgin Australia All Australian squad member Kane Lambert is set to face the Hawks.
"We're pretty happy with the way he's gone. He's only missed a couple of games so he didn't really need to play one. I'd be surprised if he doesn't get up," Balme said.
Lambert, 26, missed the final two matches of the home and away season.

Small forward Dan Butler emerged unscathed in his return from ankle surgery as Richmond lost its qualifying final to Williamstown by 25 points at Punt Road. He had only three disposals and kicked a goal.
Oleg Markov (15 disposals) also made a comeback, lining up after a knee issue kept him out.
However, neither is unlikely to line up in the AFL side's qualifying final against Hawthorn.
"We've got to play on Thursday, after a Saturday game, which makes it pretty tough," football boss Neil Balme told Channel Seven.
"Dan was good. He hasn't played for a fair while. I thought he was OK, particularly early. We'll see what happens."
Sam Lloyd and Ryan Garthwaite were left out of the match.
"We thought they were very much the next players in line in the chop-up," Balme said.
"For them to play two games in five days in a serious final is probably pretty hard to do.
"I just wish the AFL and the VFL would talk to each other. It might make it a bit easier for us."
Onballer Anthony Miles collected 25 disposals while Corey Ellis finished with 22 and a goal.

Lost because:
- Stengle had his worst game for the year.
- Ballard & Morris were liabilties.
- Menadue was weak as pee.
- Soldo is useless.
-VFL players all had shockers
- No Garthwaite.
- Balta played at the wrong end.
- depth is not as great as we think particularly in the midfiekd and the unsettled line-up has lost form.
- Managed minutes for Butler.
- Umpires.
-Williamstown were cleaner and made better decisions.
On an unrelated side note;:
Willy supporters have always been the biggest bunch of gobshytes & flogs in the comp. and proved it yet again last night. :shh

^You didn’t mentioned lloyd who normally kills it at vfl level and his absence was a huge loss to us.

Why do you think CCJ should be delisted?

Did I say that? I don’t remember saying this.
From what I’ve seen (which isn’t much) I don’t think much of him but that said he looked better in ruck than soldo. Balta on the other hand looks good.

Bit of a reality check our KP players need time all shown alot this year Balta ,Miller and CCJ all first year players judge them after 3 preseasons.I agree we need midfield depth this draft, but we sure had alot of quality missing to.Get rid of dead wood like Miles and Ellis.

It's hard to win any game when you have only one decent midfielder (Miles) in the team and he was tagged heavily. All the pressure came about because of this. It is really hard for a VFL team to draw from a depleted list when the seniors are playing finals and there are a few injuries. Also the policy to play the AFL listed players first almost guarantees an unbalanced team. We saw the result of that on saturday night.

Anyone get the impression that Balta will soon displace broad from the senior team? Seems to be a faster, more athletic version with a better kick that can play that tall/interceptor role while also providing run out of defence.
-
There’s no question Balta has an incredibly high ceiling. Could be as good as Rance; I honestly mean that. But he’s a looooong way off seniors for now.
-
Coleman-Jones is currently showing us so far that he’s way off the pace and probably won’t make it.

I didn’t say anything about delisting him. I havent yet seen much to get excited about and the way he was playing this particular game had me thinking he doesn’t look like he’ll make it but that doesn’t mean he won’t make it as it’s just my opinion from the way he was playing which at the time was making my memory of Hamspud look like Brodie Grundy. :rollin
B Ellis & Conca out is what I really want as I’ve seen enough. :shh

Writing off a 19 year old ruckman in his first year.....that's some astute commentary right there...... :shh

Also considering that he has played some ripper games and has played much more than the club actually wanted.
He was only meant to play 2 out of every 3 games but with Chol going down had to play more, he is a very exciting prospect.

11 of the top 13 players on the ground were Williamstown players.
