In: BEliis, Bolton as long as he gets a kick this w/e, Tivendale
Out: Butler, Higgins, Hyde.

Would say bring in a tough, hard nosed ball winner but the only person who fits that bill somewhat is.....Weller :(

OUTS: Higgins - say it every week but seriously how much longer? Has been poor all year)
Butler -:yes he tackled but the turnovers  :banghead

Can’t see Butler getting dropped WP.
I agree that he turned it over badly he wasn’t alone in that department.
A small forward is asked to apply pressure and tackle first and he did that better than anyone else in our team.
Rioli in the other hand was poor in that department worse than any small forward in the team.

Were you at the ground or are you going by stats and TV? At the ground it seemed Butler’s efforts were largely insipid. He tackled because he hung back. Rioli’s numbers were worse but he threw himself into the contests harder and thus wasn’t around to tackle. Also Rioli played almost exclusively as a winger and Butler as a forward.

I didn’t say Butler was good, I don’t think anyone was any good.
Besides the first quarter that was one of the worst games I’ve seen.
I thought Butler was poor but I don’t think he’ll be dropped because at the end of the day that’s what the coaches want the forwards to do. Rioli played some of the game on the members wing and was was crap and shouldn’t of even got the gig because his vfl game was rubbish as he was extremely poor. Townsend was useless too although I did like his aggression.
Caddy looks slower every game. I’m not even sure what game plan Higgins is reading probably the 2016 version.
I thought Naish did ok in his debut. Played his role better than anyone.

Injury wrap: Big calls loom for Tigers ahead of huge clash

AFL.com.au

RICHMOND will be sweating on the fitness on a host of key players ahead of the crucial clash against the in-form Crows at Adelaide Oval on Thursday night.

The injury-depleted Tigers have lost their last two matches by a combined margin of 104 points and are in danger of slipping out of contention for a top-four finish if they can't reverse that trend when they take on Don Pyke's side in Adelaide.

All eyes will be on whether 2017 Brownlow medallist Dustin Martin can shake off the "massive corkie" he picked up against the Cats, but Richmond coach Damien Hardwick expects his star midfielder to be available to take on the Crows.

"He (Martin) finished off the game. He'll look after himself and get it right, so we'd assume he'll play next week," Hardwick said following his side's loss to Geelong.

Hard runner Brandon Ellis (groin), important defender David Astbury (hamstring) and key midfielder Kane Lambert (Achilles) will need to do everything right if they are to be considered for the trip to the City of Churches, but underrated backman Nick Vlastuin (hip) is likely to recover in time.

The Crows have no fresh injury concerns, although they are likely to once again be without the services of veteran Tom Lynch as they seek to win a third game on the trot against the Tigers.

Finally, some good injury news for Tigers

Jon Ralph,
Herald Sun
11 June 2019

Richmond believes Dustin Martin will take on Adelaide on Thursday as it attempts to bounce back from a heavy loss for the third time this season.

The undermanned Tigers have 15 players on their injury list and must fly into enemy territory against an Adelaide side with only Tom Doedee (knee) and Tom Lynch (calf) unavailable.

Adelaide is not only in marauding form, it has ruckman Reilly O’Brien and forward Josh Jenkins in form in areas of weakness for the Tigers given their injuries.

Richmond football boss Neil Balme said Martin, who was hobbling after copping a cork on Friday night, was expected to train on Tuesday then play, with wingman Brandon Ellis (groin) also likely to be available after missing Friday night’s heavy loss to Geelong.

But key defender David Astbury is likely to miss again as he battles a hamstring injury, with Jack Riewoldt, Toby Nankervis, Jayden Short and Kane Lambert still some weeks away.

The Tigers lost by 49 points against GWS in Round 3 and defeated Port Adelaide at Adelaide Oval the following week.

Then in Round 7 they lost to the Western Bulldogs by 47 points and bounced back by knocking over Fremantle in Perth.

Balme said the Tigers were disappointed with their second and third quarters against the Cats.

“We would be very surprised if he (Martin) doesn’t play. We haven’t heard any discussion he won’t be,” he said.

“With Astbury they don’t think we will take a risk on it, particularly with another week behind it. It hasn’t responded as quickly as we would like.

“We will have to see how they respond tomorrow but we would be reasonably surprised if (Nick Vlastuin, hip) didn’t get up.

“Our response this year has been really positive every game we have had. We have recovered a couple of times after being in tough positions.”

Adelaide ruckman O’Brien has been in exceptional form, taking the honours against GWS veteran Shane Mumford last week and will believe he can get on top of Ivan Soldo.

Likewise, the Tigers will have to hold up in defence against Taylor Walker and Jenkins, with Ryan Garthwaite struggling to contain Tom Hawkins last week.

The Tigers could recall Nathan Broad if they need defensive cover alongside Garthwaite and Dylan Grimes, while Shai Bolton responded to his dumping with 11 tackles and 25 possessions in the VFL.

Will Dusty play? Tigers sweating on fitness of several stars

AFL.com.au
Sarah Black

RICHMOND will be sweating on the fitness of several stars ahead of Thursday night's clash against Adelaide.

Dustin Martin (knock) and Nick Vlastuin (hip) were required to get through Tuesday's main training session – the only one between last Friday's loss and Thursday's game – before getting the tick to play the Crows.

Martin trained with the main group at least up until the training session was closed to media, while Vlastuin ran laps along with Shane Edwards (light training load), Jayden Short (elbow) and Toby Nankervis (adductor).

Kane Lambert (Achilles tendinitis) took part in a walk-through handball drill with the Tigers' growing rehab group but then left the field.

"[Martin's] fine. This will be our first training session today, but our indication is that he will play. No problems," coach Damien Hardwick said.

Hardwick said Brandon Ellis, who missed the thumping loss to Geelong with a groin complaint, was available for selection, while David Astbury (hamstring) won't play.

Defender Nathan Broad, who was omitted last week and had 19 touches in the VFL, will also come under consideration and is a "possibility".

In the Mix: Round 13

Sarah Black
afl.com.au
11 June 2019

RICHMOND

Get them in: Lively forward Shai Bolton did what was asked of him after being dropped, recording 25 disposals, 11 tackles and a goal. Nathan Broad was a surprise omission and after 19 touches and four marks could come straight back in. Big man Mabior Chol has hit a rich vein of VFL form rotating between the forward and ruck (22 hitouts, 15 touches, two goals).

Under the pump: Jacob Townsend (three disposals) had a poor and ill-disciplined match in his return to AFL. Jack Graham (11 touches) didn't get too much of the ball but laid nine tackles. Noah Balta struggled in defence, but his ruck support is crucial.

Medical room:
Unfortunately, another busy week at Punt Road, with Dustin Martin (cork) and Nick Vlastuin (ribs) copping hits. Missing from the Geelong game were Brandon Ellis (groin) and David Astbury (hamstring), with Ellis the better chance to return of the pair.

Verdict: Townsend may make way for either Chol (who would play his second AFL match and first since 2016) or Bolton, depending on whether the Tigers choose to go tall or short. Broad might be needed against a strong Adelaide forward line and should come in if Vlastuin doesn't pull up. Patrick Naish impressed in his debut but could make way for Ellis.

Cotchin to miss crucial clash with Crows

By Sam McClure
June 12, 2019 — 11.38am

Richmond's premiership captain Trent Cotchin won't play in Thursday night's vital match against Adelaide after suffering a recurrence of his hamstring injury.

Cotchin is believed to be feeling sore and his hamstring hasn't recovered in time to play in the clash at Adelaide Oval.

The skipper has played the last two games following a seven week lay off with the same hamstring injury.
