Title: 40,740
Post by: tiogar on April 08, 2006, 04:38:52 AM
What did everyone think of the first home crowd figure of the season? It was down on the TD game against saints early last season but similar to the Rd.16 game at the MCG. I was a bit disappointed with the turnout but the real test will be how the Tiger fans respond to two defeats.

Carlton in a few weeks time will hopefully bring out the yellow and black legions since they could be genuine rival round opposition and hopefully the bounce back we saw begin last night will be really rolling when we are home to Carlton. I'm looking for a huge turnout then.

I thought 40k was ok. It's not our home ground  :nope. You have to wonder how much last week's "effort" and the fact Saints members were allowed in affected the turn-up. People who like to walk-up would have been detered from going thinking they wouldn't be able to get in especially at the Dome. The first and third tiers looked pretty packed and when we were coming at the Saints and hit the front we were loud as hell  :thumbsup.

Tiger supporters will turn up if we play with the intensity of last night game most weeks. The 'G is our real home ground and the game is against old rivals Carlton who are no St Kilda talent-wise. First game back at the 'G should bring out a big crowd even if we are 0-4 but have been competitive.

On the radio they said they thought there were more tigers fans there.

A lot of saints fans would have gone also as it was there first game in melb.

It was a good crowd, but when you think we had 43,000 against the Dogs, it's hard to gauge the reaction from last week.  Seemed an even turnup from both clubs.  Still, pretty good showing from tiger supporters - considering ....  :banghead
