RICHMOND vs Port Adelaide
Saturday, 20th July @ the M.C.G.
Start time: 1:45 pm

-
Port look garbage currently :D
-
We're overwhelming favourite.
Odds:
Richmond $1.25
Port Adel. $3.80

Port look garbage currently :D
Port have been Jekyll and Hyde this year. They have a WLWLWLWL record over the past two months. In that time they've beaten Geelong yet lost to Freo and Hawthorn. If they are favourite to win they lose and then the following week when everyone writes them off they win. Reminds me of us in the mid-late 90s when we couldn't handle expectation.
-
Port defender Ryan Burton will miss.

We always seem to play well against Port in Adelaide, and they have a good record against us playing in Melbourne (MCG and Colonial Stadium)

Jeez I love Saturday afternoon footy.
Looking forward to this one.
Hope our young stars in Bolton and Stack keep getting better with each game they play.

Play Richmond footy and we'll be too good for these flogs.

Match preview: Richmond v Port Adelaide
AFL.com.au
Sarah Black
Jul 16, 2019
Where and when: MCG, Saturday July 20, 1.45pm AEST
What it means for Richmond: The push for top four continues. Now just two players – Toby Nankervis and Alex Rance – away from full-strength, the Tigers are finding form at just the right time.
What it means for Port Adelaide: The frustrating Port Adelaide form line has continued, but all expectations will be off, taking on a side with momentum at its home ground. It's the perfect opportunity for the Power to strike a crucial blow.
The stat: Robbie Gray has starred for Port Adelaide over the years but struggles against Richmond. He averages 15.7 disposals when playing the Tigers, his lowest tally against any side. Gray does like to hit the scoreboard, kicking 21 goals in 13 matches.
The match-up: Trent Cotchin v Travis Boak
The two veterans are a chance to go head to head in the middle of the ground. Both are strong contested ball-winners who love to go hard at contests, setting up their teammates on the outside.
It's a big week for: Ken Hinkley
The Power have once again been the Jekyll and Hyde of the 2019 season, winning games they shouldn't and dropping games they should win. Last week's loss to Brisbane at home was demoralising, and Richmond looms as a tough opponent to bounce back against.
Big call: The Jack Riewoldt-Tom Lynch combination will click into gear, with the pair kicking seven goals between them.
Prediction: Tigers by 25 points

PORT Adelaide co-captain Ollie Wines is in doubt for Saturday's crucial clash with Richmond at the MCG, while Brad Ebert could also join Ryan Burton on the injured list.
Scans have revealed Wines fractured his left thumb in the Power's 48-point loss to Brisbane at Adelaide Oval on Sunday. Wines was able to play out the game and will be assessed during the week.
Ebert injured his left knee and had it strapped, with the Power likely to have more information on Tuesday when they receive the results of scans.
Defender Dan Houston is expected to return to face the Tigers after he missed the loss to the Lions through illness.

-
If Lynch and Riewoldt click in to gear as the ‘Big Call’ suggests, they’ll kick 17 between then, not 7.
-
Resurgent Richmond host Port Adelaide at the MCG on Saturday with Hardwick wary of the hot-and-cold Power.
Port slid to ninth spot on the ladder after last week's loss to Brisbane, which continued their sequence of win-loss since round six.
"At their best they are an incredible football side," Hardwick said of Port.
"When they play their very best football, which is what we will be preparing for, they can beat anyone.
"They would be disappointed with their game against Brisbane on the weekend, in saying that Brisbane were fantastic.
"But then we saw the demolition job they (Port) did against the Crows.
"We understand how they play their best football and what is required of them to play their best football.
"We have just got to make sure we limit a few of those things."

From Barrett's 'Sliding Doors' column today:
Port Adelaide
IF ... you're a really tough club, and not just a pretend, conditionally tough one ...
THEN ... you'll attempt to "terrorise" – that's your word, Ken, not ours - Dusty this Saturday at the MCG.
Richmond
IF ... indeed Port does seek to "terrorise" Dusty ...
THEN ... there's going to be massive, ugly-for-Port consequences.
https://www.afl.com.au/news/2019-07-19/sliding-doors-round-18
-
Hope they do target Dusty.
And just like their game against Brisbane they will forget they are also there to get the football.
-
Hope they do target Dusty.

-
The Power always act like tough guys against us.
-
Richmond by 35 points
-
As usual blobbo and co just holding dusty gets mauled and we lose this one
-
Must Win Game ... :gotigers
-
A defiant Ken Hinkley has not ruled out giving former Docker Cam Sutcliffe another big stopping job against Richmond on Saturday, despite the plan backfiring spectacularly against Brisbane last week.
He would not specify Sutcliffe’s role against the Tigers but said he would continue to be “adventurous’’ with his selection and tactics to “try to make us better’’.
Hinkley did not rule out Sutcliffe being asked to play a run-with role against Richmond Brownlow Medallist Dustin Martin, who can take exception to being tightly tagged.

Late goals in quarters kill us. That was pathetic defence.
Astbury has been excellent today but when there's less than a minute to go you maintain possession not cough it up defensive side of the centre.
-
We're 5 goals up but I'm not as comfortable as I should be
Thoughts on the final quarter?
-
We're 5 goals up but I'm not as comfortable as I should be
Thoughts on the final quarter?
That late goal keeps it under 6 goals.
It's the way the we're playing that is making us nervous. Handball mad although I'd guess it's an improvement on the first half that we at least kicked as much as we handballed in that 3rd qtr. Still it's 151 kicks and 186 handballs.
-
Bolton 1-2 with Grimes bounces luckily to Lynch who gets a toe to it for a goal :gotigers.

Key defenders were immense.
Lynch BoG for mine.
astbury and grimesy superb :thumbsup
Actually thought Astbury was the weak link alot of the time today. Gave away stupid frees for holding because he panicked against Dixon
Have watched the replay, will admit I was harsh on Astbury, he was good even though he let Dixon off the leash a few times and got monstered when he lost contact on Dixon
By the look of the coaches votes you were very harsh WP! :lol
